There are few sights in the bass world more iconic than Lee Sklar and his planet-sized beard! Lee has played with so many artists and recorded on so many hit records that his bass playing has literally dominated the airwaves for decades. Видеоклипы
A true legend indeed. He can even talk without opening his mouth 😮
💀💀💀
Thanks cant unsee that now.
I wonder if he ever eats.
@@olmage0799 anytime mate! I’m here if you need me 🙂
@@NWOrba123 I’m assuming no, cuz if he did, he’d choke on his own beard. And since he seems to be alive, I don’t think he eats. He probably survives on air.
He is like a bass santa
You better watch that he might give you the finger 😂😄😎
Sinterbass
Underrated comment 😂
he looks like john petrucci's older self
Dude looks like a straight up wizard.
That's because he is
Big respect. OG bass wizard
Wow Dumbledore has some skills
You better watch that sh#t Lee might give the finger😄
Hipshot tuners are definitely a tier gear. One of the few things I’d recommend to almost any bassist.
That bass sounds amazing -- I know a big part of it is the player, but it rings and sings.
Jesus, the amount of experience, wear and knowledge this man possesses in his fingers is mind blowing
Lee is my favorite of all the other many, great bassist.
I bought mine at the Hipshot factory in Interlaken, NY. Right in the heart of the Finger Lakes of NY where I grew up, and just a couple hours before I got the chance to sit w/ Mr. Sklar for a bit before his gig w/ Lyle Lovett in Geneva, NY, summer of '22.
Hi, small world I live near Syracuse and went to college there. Saw Genesis twice at the Dome, and Phil solo at Saratoga for the But Seriously tour!! I went to the House of Guitars in Rochester and bought an effects pedal for my guitar. I met Chester Thompson at the Drum clinic on James st. in Syracuse and got an autographed photo. I admire Leland for his ability to sound fresh on each project while still recognizing that its him playing. Geddy Lee and Chris Squire are the only other bassists that carry their signature sound !!!
Half a century of just being the foundation of some of the most iconic albums. You could do six degrees of separation in music with this guy and probably only need two most of the time
That tone is golden
Truly enjoy your channel Lee. Thank you for taking us all along the journey. We have never met but feels like we're old friends.
Santa do be groovin tho
This is what orchestra double bassists often use to play the low Eb, D, Db, C, B.
I thought he was going to talk about the producer switch
That’s the best of all bass gadgets!
0:10 - 0:40 The groove here is insane I wanna learn that
The true bass GOD
The beard is the true brains here with great beard comes with great wisdom and power.
Country in drop D, Yeah!!
It’s folk not country
Dude, Father Time is a smooth player.
One of my favourites Lee is, he’s that good!! ✌️☺️
This man is a wizard on the bass
Leland Sklar : My hero in the bass guitar world 👍🏆.
Who knew Santa was a successful bassist
One of my heros.
That's a true Master. ♾️💜🤘
5 strings go to a much lower "B" and you can make it go to a ultra low A adding one of these gizmos
Maybe one on the E and the B
He has one on his 5 string Dingwall signature bass
It’s a real treat to see Mr. Sklar demonstrating that lever. My mainstay bass guitar since Dec. 2020 is a fretless 4-string which wasn’t built with that lever but that I hope I can modify with one eventually.
¡Grande Maestro!
Props to Leland.
Somehow, when I picture meeting Leland Skyler, I picture him levitating, and finishing your sentences for you.
Hey, Lee! So good to see a video from you!
That is an amazing beard my guy
He looks like he's been playing bass for 1000 years 🔥🪄
When really, he's only been playing for a little over 60 years.
Lee is such a hip dude.
Genial, muñeco 🙌🏼😍
True Legend!
Sin duda es el rey del bajo🎸🇨🇱
Santa Claus of electric basses
Drop D is a great Tuning for Harmonics and Ghost Notes too.
I have one of these. Hipshot makes them, and it's a game changer
Like the one I installed a couple decades ago (probably more) on my Peavey Foundation four-string. Worked great!
Killer FAT sound!!
So like the EVH D Tuna but for bass
If he has a band the genre must be DumbleCore.
Gandalf is fire on the base
Love you man
Bro looks like a unlock-able skin in guitar hero
Nifty , I like the riff more
Love him
I wish my bass sounded that good unplugged 😢
Mind blown
[ooo I want one for my bass to cool😛
Legend. 🔥
💯💯💯
Hey santa that was the bass I asked for for Christmas heyyy!!!!
Master Teacher
Legend. Just saw him on Rick's podcast
Oh yeah, Billy Sheehan uses one.
Leland is such an amazing player. Truthfully, his skills are very average, but his body of work and obvious professionalism made him a lifelong stalwart and icon.
He says usually a loaded smoothie. Yes, I have been listening to him that much lately.
It's EVH's D-Tuna for the bass.
That is super cool. I always leave my guitar in drop c and capo up to standard so I can always remove the capo and be in the lower tuning. This is obviously way cooler than my cheesy method but both work.
Didn’t know that … Cool!
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Smooth
He belongs to the best Bass Player. Perhaps I'm to old, but I mean that I saw him 30 years ago on stage with Phil Collins in Germany.
This is why we never saw the Blue Wizards in Lord Of The Rings
🤣🤣🤣
I'll take 8!
Lovely ❤
🧡🧡🧡
Legend!
I love this idea. I can tune E to D pretty fast, buy I can see where you can just flip mid song. Open up alot of possibilities
That's a gnarly beard
Saw your face and didn't know your name, but I emidiately thought I saw you with James Taylor. Nice ...
Only downside I can see to this is the added weight which could cause the neck to dive which is annoying when standing up
I mostly play a 4 string, but if it were necessary to play that low D, I'd use a 5er over using that thing.
AKA: Hipshot. Been around for decades
Hi Scott and Lee, do you have a link for this device? I'm playing a musical theater gig and there are some random low D's. Thank you!
Hipshot Xtender is the name of the product
@@MichelleAlberda Thank you so much Michelle! ❤️
I've never held an interest in playing tuned to drop D until now.
🧡🧡🧡
Not my favorite bassist but damn he good
I did not know about that " instantly tuner " and I'm almost 68
Maybe capo a 5 string. I have thought about using a capo on my basses.
You can also just tune down takes a second
Beautiful, I'm a lover of bass, I play but I mean I'm below beginner I suppose.
hip shot
How does this affect the string intonation?
Yooooo
Didnt know Santa played bass
.... Hipshot
I'd like to get something like this for my guitar. Any drawbacks from the hipshot?
Check out Michael Manning and see what he does with his hip shots... All 4 of them.
I had something similar on a Ibanez guitar I had. It was handy but you always had to tune again as it never really got it to land on the perfect note.
nahhh bro i didn't know darwin can finger bass 😩
Where can i buy it?!
Who let Gandalf cook
YOU SHALL NOT BASS!!!
EVH d tuna like but on the Floyd rose end.
Gandalf bass
I didn't know god plays bass
Gandalf the groovy..
Perfeito
Why treat this as revolutionary? I mean… it WAS, about 30 years ago when the Hipshot D-tuner first came out. But not anymore.
Yes, he got a prototype when they were developed, 30 odd years ago.
