If the game is swingy, additional playthroughs are appreciated to see what that’s like. If you have time. Thanks for this one! Can’t wait to get my copy!
Great playthrough! I know I've said it before but I am forever jealous of you and Colin's dice luck....you both must have been born under a lucky moon. Add my name to the list of people who would like a playthrough of the other sets (whenever you get the time, of course!) This one is arriving next month and I can't wait.
At level 1 difficulty (what I was playing here), I'd say my win rate is in the 70% range, so I didn't need HUGE luck, but yeah, lots of crits to play with here :)
Dude, that was a rollercoaster at the end… I saw your minion pull and said,”wow, good thing he got the Port a Fort, or this would be bad times…”. Fast forward to your rolls, and it made a dire situation seem easier than it was! People watching this video may get the impression it is more easy than it is 😂
First time I went up against swarm lord I brought it down to 1 health first round, but then it beat me before I could beat it in subsequent rounds. Would love to see either of the other two games.
Awesome playthrough! Thanks Mike! I am quite sure that you can’t play it like that in Round 8 (I think the fight immediately ends once you apply the needed hits and you can’t continue rolling.)
Thanks for watching, and glad you enjoyed it! Round 8 was played correctly, though. Especially because many enemies have abilities that trigger at the end of the combat, whether they are dead or not, you continue to resolve the round steps in order regardless of how many enemies are defeated or not defeated. Also, the rules specify that you can continue to add more hits to enemies that have already been defeated.
The cards are lovely. They shuffle smoothly, and feel good to the touch. And the embossing or raised elements or whatever the heck you call them are really nice.
Never heard of this game. I liked what I saw. About half way through, you didn’t recover your 2 Crits per round, focusing instead on your 5 recovered dice. It didn’t slow you down, as you started recovering so well and efficiency.
Not sure what you mean, unless you are referring to rounds where I was already recovering all my dice and the ability didn't matter. Do you have a timestamp for when you think I made a mistake and didn't recover as much as I should have?
The Solar Sentinels module kind of feels like Warp's Edge to me, which is something that could definitely be worse. Also, Too Many Bones and Hoplomachus do nothing for me so here's hoping for Cloudspire and Burncycle modules next.
I can see that comparison. Both have a strong sense of progression and unlocking new abilities. I like Victorum more than TMB (in terms of their 20 strong modules), but I agree, no idea how they will do Cloudspire or Burncycle but I am EXCITED TO FIND OUT!!
At 24.16 why did you leave a hit unapplied only to reroll it in the next strategy phase? Wouldn't it be better to just apply the hit unless you were going for a crit? Just trying to learn and understand!
Yes, that’s usually the reason not to apply a hit, especially if it’s a red or purple that will auto hit or likely hit again anyway. Gives you another 1/6 chance for the crit :)
@@OneStopCoopShop Ok thanks, makes sense! I got the game for Christmas and love it. I've not had tons of time to play but got my first win last night. I always just apply hits but I'll certainly look to re roll them on stronger dice.
Thanks for the play hrough! I know now its not a game for me., but I’m sure plenty will love it Too long, limited dice manipulation. I go back to play One Deck Galaxy!
maybe I missed a detail...but weren't there 3 dice used on the beeserker in the boss fight to get him killed 1st.....but his modifier is the one that limits to 2 dice applied to enemies....
He had one crit applied to him in the first apply dice step, then I rolled again and applied two more dice to him, during the second apply dice step. Hope that makes sense!
came back to this video to check out the quality of the dice since the ones that shipped seem to have defects. looks like the ones Mike got also have a defect (though, strangely, not the same one lol). defect in mine: the confetti bits inside the dice are all settled to one face, and on some they're protruding out of the die itself. i'm kinda surprised they made it past quality assurance, frankly. :/
Oh geez, don’t ask me to choose between those two! I’d say for pure fun and power growth warp’s edge wins, but 20 strong has better variety (if you buy multiple sets), and maybe a bit more strategy at times?
This is one of those games that I knew I was going to regret not backing when I had the chance. And now that regret has set in. This will be a buy as soon as it's up for sale on CTG's site for me (unless I get super lucky and PAX has the game available next month, but that seems VERY unlikely).
Huh... I wouldn't compare the two necessarily, especially with Set a Watch being multiplayer, but I guess they do both have tactical combat with dice :)
DISREGARD - I think with round 2 drone alone, before you keep the crit you have to reroll it due to drone alone? Can you apply hits before you reroll those hits due to the 2 misses?
Yeah, I rewatched it a couple times and wasn't sure and was about to send a reponse when I notice you did do the reroll, it was so fast!!! Thanks for the quick response. Got it now. Anyways, I love watching your playthroughs. Thanks for all your efforts
It looks like there's been a change to the rules. I've checked the printed copy I received with the game and online, and I can't find the part that says you get to recover critical hits. Do you have a reference for that? Thanks!
Wait, are you referring to the character ability? That’s on this particular character’s card. It’s not a universal rule that would be in the rulebook 😅
Bought this game for $30. The extra decks are $20 just for a deck of cards. I don’t recommend this game. Most people lean towards either luck or strategy. This game seems to be the worst of both worlds.

Definitely going to do more when I can fit them in!
Would love to see a victorum play through to help decide if I want to dive into this system. Great job as always!
That’s the next one I want to do. It’s quite a bit different from the other two
Awesome playthrough, especially that last roll against the boss 😂
Really looking forward to the Victorum playthrough. Thanks for this!
Glad you enjoyed it!
So glad I backed this one, can't wait to actually get my copy.
Please do a playthroughs of the two other sets.
I’d certainly like to, but I also have to work my through the 15 other games in my queue 😅
@@OneStopCoopShop Yeah but this one's so short! :P
You aren’t wrong ;)
This game is everywhere right now! Thanks for the playthrough!
Nice little play there! Im a backer, so playthroughs of the other sets would be marvelous.

thank you for the play through, very informative and entertaining.
Wow. What an ending. Just got my copy. Thanks for the vid. 🤘🤘
Thanks for the playthrough. SUPER excited for a whole new type of Chip Theory Games game! I think us backers will be getting our copies pretty soon.
I hope they come soon, and with the fixed dice that aren't in this copy ;)
@@OneStopCoopShop it's an original, CTG doesn't do copies 😂

@@OneStopCoopShop Yeah, if my 20 Strong dice roll like that, I'll have a set of Hoplo Alloy dice up for sale in a flash! ;)
Just got my copy today. Looking forward to giving it a run.
Hope you have fun!!
Coming back to this video for the holidays for a drinking game. Any time Mike says 'crud' - take a drink 😉
You might die of alcohol poisoning 😅

Gotta crit whenever I can!!!

Nice playthrough Mike, can't wait to get my hands on my original.
Great to hear from you Dave. I'm pretty sure you'll have a blast with this one.
@@OneStopCoopShop I guess you already know I want you to make a 20 Strong TMB video, right? 😁

@@SarimRune oh yeah, good catch! I had 1 crit on that enemy, so should have recovered 6 dice total that turn.

Lol, Peter is borrowing it so we can do a podcast, then I can play again.
Do you have to commit dice or can you just take the damage and go to the recovery step?
You can just tank an attack if you want, absolutely. That’s a decent strategy against weaker foes
