      good stuff gary, it's a great way of fishing and corn over the top is a perfect hookbait, if you haven't already, have a look at the fox arma mesh in 14mm, you can make small bags of pigeon conditioner with it and actually fish with a little package of the seeds over the top of your bait, you can mesh sweetcorn with it too if you get any nuisance fish👍

    Hi Mark Carp, love the idea of switching people on to cheaper ways to fish for there Carp
    That said, it was drilled into my Carp fishing from the start `early 80`s to pre soak minimum 24 hours and a boil the b jesus out of any particle
    When people are told there is a shotcut or hack in fishing it starts to LAYER...bigger short cuts are used `over the top` and hey ho more dead fish, unessasary nut bans and a general mistrust of all things particle
    Stick it all in a bucket and give it a good soak PLEASE....surely this can be managed before a fishing trip without getting the sack or having the kids sweep chimmneys etc..
    Listening to anglers from all aspects of our sport seem to agree that bait is a fundamental part of the game and shortcuts have no place in Carp bait preparation
    Tight lines and all the very best
    Brad

    • @MarkCarp
      @MarkCarp  3 года назад

      hi brad, i hear what you're saying about prep, particles like hemp and pigeon conditioner don't expand a lot when soaked so you can get away with using a cool box for pigeon conditioner or a thermos flask for hemp. pigeon conditioner done this way won't harm the fish but it is a short cut and i don't think it's as effective as a good soak and a decent boil of at least 20 minutes which is still how i prefer to do it. people are lazy though and this way has gained popularity but i''ll always boil mine. i'll be covering the full soak and boil for this particle at some point in the future and why i think boiling is better👍

  • @DannysAnglingBlog
    @DannysAnglingBlog 6 лет назад +2

    Cracking video mark, very informative and one i will be looking at for sure as i like the ease of prep. Hemp is getting silly now mate to the point its actually cheaper to buy it form companies ready cooked than it is to buy raw. mpst particle companies are selling 20 kilo of hemp for under 30 quid.

    Thanks for a great video on pigeon conditioner. I am an American living in Chicago area. I am new a carp fishing. I understand everything you said. I am not sure what we call pigeon condition in the USA. Would that be just pigeon food/seeds? Also could I use the pigeon conditioner as a pack bait, using bread crumbs, panko, or oatmeal as a binder to make a pack bait to stick on a method lead. I know you were speaking of using it as a chum as we call it. Thanks so much for your video and answers to my questions.

    • @MarkCarp
      @MarkCarp  3 года назад

      hi richard, pigeon conditioner is just a mixture of a few different seeds, there are things like red dari seed, white dari seed, rolled oats or groats as we call them, pinto beans or mung beans, wheat, oilseed rape and safflower seeds, they are just mixed together and coated with aniseed oil. it's a big ask to make your own, i don't know if you have people who keep pigeons over in chicago but if you can find people who keep them as a hobby or race them then you should be able to find a supplier. if you can't, rather than make your own, all of those seeds will catch carp on their own but i'd highly recommend just wheat or groats, both will catch stacks of carp and they'll go in your pack bait as will pigeon conditioner itself if you've a decent binder👍 wheat and groats are on this channel already and i think you'll find wheat the cheapest on your side of the pond👍

    Hi mark :-) i consider myself as a beginner as im only on my 3rd year carping (although 30+ years a sea angler beach and boat) so as you may imagine ive bought thousands i reckon of expensive cc moore and sticky baits so far and yes there great but its bothered me that the carp on pressured venues where i fish have become acustomed to them a bit yeah! And so i thank you so so much for sharing your experience and secrets too buddy :-) sadly ive found the more knowledgeable ive become the less fish i catch hahaaa and the funs gone a bit too as nothings better than landing a whopper on a blunt hook on a flimsy rod in a shithole small venue right hahaaa , ive liked and ive subbed and hope you keep on making videos that make sense to beginers like ma as well as all the experts ive met hahaaa, there all experts according to them teheheee, tight lines buddy, Paddy :-)

    • @MarkCarp
      @MarkCarp  6 лет назад

      cheers paddy, i just follow my own path mate, a long time ago i fished a water up here in the north called capesthorne hall, i got the chance to watch fish close up and their behaviour towards boilies was quite something, they would either leave the area or ignore them, these were pressured fish and they knew round baits were dangerous, if i chopped the baits up into halves and quarters they'd take them!. Ever since then boilies have never formed the main thrust of any campaign I've done and i rarely use round baits, i found that by moving away from the boilie/round bait scenario i instantly gave myself an edge👍 this is why i prefer seeds, beans and nuts for my fishing, if everyone is on boilies you instantly have an edge by way of giving them something different that they won't be wary of👍 the carp rags and internet promo teams we have these days are very good at flogging you a dream though....lol😂

      yes it does Jordan, you don't need to boil it for long at all, you can do it in just a bucket with a sealable lid too, poor the boiling water on it, close the lid but let them soak for longer, a full 24hrs rather than just overnight with the cool box. With the world cup starting very soon keep an eye out in your local supermarkets, they quite often sell big cool boxes for keeping your beer cold, during the last world cup i remember seeing them stacked high in my local Tesco and they were a tenner each, if they sell them again this time round it could be a chance to pick one up cheap👍

I've no more room left for anything else, it's a working home office and space is at a premium...lol. i mainly operate in the winter months on those days when it's too crappy to go fishing.
