FYI, the rulebook for the F4 expansion actually lists the heroes that count as having been on the F4; its on the back page under Baxter Building subsection. Very easy to miss and arguably not complete but for a quick and official reference I'm glad it is there!
@@c.m.9613 I know this is a year old, but since it's at the top and there's a new season coming out: Hulk, Ghost Rider, and Wolverine (along with Spider-Man) were part of the "New Fantastic Four", and Luke Cage was a member of the Fantastic Four for 2 issues. I'm sure there are others, but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
Love this expansion. The teamwork card aspect is great and Doctor Doom as a hero is so much fun and my number one at this stage (Silver Surfer is not far behind). As a villain he’s like a cross between Red Skull and Ultron, also great fun. The Baxter Building Location working with Ant-Man, She-Hulk, Nova and a bunch of the others from regular Marvel United is also a great touch! Glad you had fun with this one too :)
I was really excited to try this expansion - unfortunately with VAT and shipping it was just too expensive to get and sadly seems to be only a Kickstarter exclusive - hoping we might still see a printing as it seems like a no brainer as an expansion!
There a real easy explanation between a mutant and a non mutant in Marvel comics, Tom. I'm surprised you don't know this. I'll make it real clear: Mutant (Magneto, Cyclops, etc): Humans born with a specific gene, called the X-gene, that from birth grants them with abilities and/or physical characteristics stemming from that gene. These abilities usually manifest during puberty or during periods of heightened emotional stress. Mutates (Spiderman, Mr Fantastic, etc): Humans absent of the x-gene and thus not born with abilities and/or any characteristics stemming from that gene. They however acquire abilities and/or traits from an unexpected outside source (aka, cosmic rays, radioactive spider).
Just getting started on playing this expansion, but I do have a couple early takeaways. 1. The F4 seem like they are slow to startup because they won't be playing any double symbol cards till like round 3 because of their starting cards and then those fantastic four symbol cards, but once they get going they do very well. So, I could see some villains overwhelming them, like Rhino or something like that, but once they get going they are hard to match. 2. Dr. Doom seems like a great villain. Hard to know for sure, but he could be one of the better villains of the set. Looks like a decent hero as well. Same could be said for silver surfer as a good hero. 3.Not sure about Super Skrull, but I like what I see so far. Yeah, seems like a great set.
Dr doom is probably the best hero in the entire game like dr strange or adam warlock level. If you can build a team around him, he feels like he can solo carry a 3 player game.
Flame-colored hero making crisp apple strudles Stretchy, fantastic and looks like some noodles Invisible woman, like an angel's wing These are a few of my favorite Thing
Yes, but I never understood why a "person on the street" would care if someone was a "mutant", or got their powers from cosmic radiation, etc. It makes no difference to me when a guy is using super strength to destroy my house.
In the Marvel universe it's a bit strange but the mutant fear thing is a metaphor for a lot of different stereotypes. What it really comes down to is most people in the Marvel universe are scared of mutants because they are born that way and anyone could be a mutant. Irrational? Yes. Completely human reaction to the unknown? Yes.
Is there a plan to sell this outside of the kickstarter campaign? If not, it seems like kind of a waste to give an opinion on whether you should add this to your collection or not. Maybe I'm not understanding the future availability. These videos are interesting to watch to see the product but giving an opinion on something you can't even make a decision about anymore seems useless.
If there’s ever a Season 3 Kickstarter, it would probably give the option to add these expansions. Tom’s reviews and rankings of Season 1 helped me decide what I wanted to add during the X-Men Kickstarter.
This game is the epitome of a cash grab. To each their own, but I find this type of sales/marketing of board games to be almost predatory, for lack of a better term. You're getting precious little for the additional expenditure which is then "justified" by the inclusion of unnecessary components (in this case, miniature figures).
not really. actually, I think it is the best value of any united expansion. this expansion basically allows you to play "the fantastic four"-the board game.

Cool. I just checked and it’s:
Ant-Man
Black Panther
Iceman
Nova
She-Hulk
Spider-Man
Storm

Ah, Fantastic Four, my favorite X-Men team
Well, Franklin Richards is often considered a mutant, I guess.

on the invisible woman model the little disc thing on the bottom is supposed to be one of her force fields she is jumping off it

They're offering this expansion again as a KS add-on for Marvel United Multiverse right now. Going for 45 USD
@@koalabrownie thanks - i've signed up this time and made sure i've got the cash to cover the vAt and shipping! :D

The only expansion I got because it seemed to be the best value :p
I've been selling most of my expansion sets but I might keep this set based upon your review. I barely know anything about the Fantastic Four though.
I really like the Takeover challenge, i use it every game. Just another incentive to not overflow
If you need the origin of how the Fantastic Four got their superhero names, Norm McDonald explains it on his album Ridiculous.
Your judgement should have been “Fantastic”…I’m disappointed in you
Kind of bummed I didn’t pick this one up.

Dang it, I totally skipped this expansion on the KS. I couldn’t afford everything…. :(
FOMO, why do you do this to me!!
Damn you should have skipped everything else outside this. Well maybe except S6 or DoFP
They're offering it again on the current KS for multi-verse
Mutants are born with the x-gene Tom. The distinction is right there. I thought you knew your comics.

@@thedicetower when you look at it that way i get it. There still has to be that distinction tho.

Spoiler laugh out loud😃.
I was thinking Phoenix would be the number 1 hero since she is so OP.
so I’m guessing silver surfer is #1

@@c.m.9613 Fair enough. Thanks for the perspective.
I wouldn't hold your breath on them coming to retail, and honestly not even on them doing a third campaign. You're best trying to find it third party.
It’s available in the S3 kickstarter going on right now!
