P.S the guests can be overwhelming you’re not rude at all. Sleep deprivation and getting over labour is really hard going. Don’t be afraid to put people off, anyone that’s had children will understand! Xx

I'm so happy you're so open about what it is like after giving birth, a lot of mothers (even those with many children) will never talk about this - I think it is such an important topic and something that needs to b discussed. Thank you, it is very much appreciated ❤️

You should try the anglecare baby monitor for Daisy to help with David’s worrying. Basically it’s a mat that goes under Daisy’s mattress that monitors her breathing so David won’t need to worry as the monitor beeps everytime she breathes and alerts you if there is a pause in her breathing or if god forbid she ever stopped breathing xx

I'm so glad I'm not alone when it came to people visiting... it was just to much for me. I was living with my partner and his dad and step mum so their friends and family were constantly round, his family would just show up and expect to see my daughter let alone hold her. I was trying to recover from an emergency section also. I moved out 3 months later because I just couldn't do it! Doesn't make you rude, just means you like to adjust x

  • @swimgirl24

There are socks you can buy for the baby that monitor oxygen levels and will tell you if the oxygen levels of the baby are low. You definitely shouldn't depend on them 100% but it can help new parents get ease of mind when the baby is sleeping. I heard of them on some other channel. I wish I remembered their name but if David was interested, I'm sure he could find them online!

Yes the owlet sleep sock. Their are many sleep monitors you can get to monitor your babies breathing. Lavana makes a diaper clip and Angel care has a mat you can put under your babies mattress. S.i.d.s is still a very real and terrifying thing. Definitely something to look into.

OMG! You are speaking exactly what my husband & I are feeling! Totally not rude! We’ve said it everyday since our son was born, 3 weeks ago, that we just want people to wait. I would just think that people would try to be somewhat considerate of what had just happened, and give you sometime to rest. People wanted to come over to our house the day we came home from the hospital and I had to tell them no. With two other children, it was hectic when we came home anyways. We’ve only aloud 3 visitors so far, specially with the sicknesses going around. Your feelings are very justified!

  • @freyahalls9118

Yes feed on demand. Listen to your baby. Don’t stress or compare to what you hear. You’re doing fantastic. And your so refreshing. This is motherhood it’s so tough but just cuddle and hold her as much as you can before she grows oh so fast. I let mine sleep on me for every nap and he co slept with me or my partner for 4 months. Rocked him to sleep until 8 then one day he just didn’t want me there and started to sleep by himself when I left the room peacefully. He never had to cry when he started to self settle, we just listened to his needs. So in my opinion, don’t push anything just do exactly what you’re doing and just listen to when they need something. Good luck ! Love following your journey 😘

  • @rockinhorse123

Angelcare has a baby monitor that has a sensor pad under baby's mattress that monitors their movement and breathing, and an alarm goes off if they don't breathe for 20 seconds, maybe you (or David really 😂) need something like that!
Well done with little Daisy, you two are doing so well! And thank you for keeping your videos so honest and real, I think everyone appreciates it!!

Don’t feel pressured into getting her into routine! She’s still a newborn and just wants feeds/attention on demand so don’t feel bad about that. I started inputting a routine with my daughter when she was about 8 weeks, which is still quite early but we just felt she was ready for it. You guys seem like you’re doing amazing! x

There's a lot of info on the lullaby trust website about babies sleeping on there own/own room.
One of the topics covered in my antenatal classes was actually about visitors in the days after birth. It wasn't till then I realised how much a problem this can be! I'm hoping for myself people come around then leave us be for a while and won't be offended. Breast feeding can be such a struggle I don't want to be worrying about people turning up.
Nobody's ever told me about losing control of bowels. Thank you for being honest and open about that!!
Yous are doing fab and the honesty is much appreciated not all new parents get in a routine straight away. Much love x

I LOVE how positive and honest you are. You go through such difficult and traumatic things and you still always manage to be super positive. I think that's sooo inspiring and you are so strong! I saw that David loved the book "live in the now" by eckhart tolle, so if he is into spiritual stuff maybe reading something like "the universe has your back" by Gabby Bernstein would be good too! The reason I'm saying this is because he is so scared that Daisy is not breathing, it might helped to know the universe is always has your back and if you choose love, and have faith that everything will always be okay maybe he won't feel that fear as much!

  • @sarahkingston793

Love your honesty!! You are doing a great job with Daisy! Can i recommend some stuff??
    1) a monitor to go under Daisys mattress which keeps and eye on her breathing so David doesn't have to worry
    2) As she starts to get older, start tummy time with Daisy to encourage her core strength
    3) Look out for some baby massage/relaxing classes that you and Daisy can go to. You may learn techniques that will settle her when she is grizzly!
    Great job guys x

We had the same thing with friends and family over constantly , when we had our first two children.it was exhausting.
I’m currently 37 weeks 1 day pregnant, we have already said we would like some time too ourselves for the first week or so.
That’s why it’s hard to get a routine, people in and out of your house all the time and off course eating cuddles with the baby.
Your doing a great job and you are so lovely. Good luck in the future. X

It took me until my third baby until I put my foot down and said guests were on my terms when I was ready. We had several days to bond until I was "ok" - then we would allow 1 or 2 per day, when we felt up to it and it was perfect for us!

  • @ElmoGrace1988

I love the honesty. I am just under two weeks in with my own baby girl and she also settles so much better with her daddy than me because he doesn’t smell like milk. This has improved for us in the last couple of days but only because she is now combination fed (for health reasons) and not exclusively breast fed. As for sleeping - recommendation is they stay in your room for at least 6 months or until they can push up onto their hands and knees and sit unaided (at which point the Moses basket is no longer deemed safe).

Congratulations and welcome Daisy! My son arrived arrived a day before your wee beauty 💕 we have a miniscule routine in that he usually goes for a long 3 hour nap around 1 or 2 in the afternoon and then he's a wee grumpus again around 10pm so I try to settle him in his Chicco crib. I Absolutely agree with you on visitors: I struggled to get River latched and found visitors to be so stressful. When all I wanted to do was to sit with my boobs out! We opted to have 1 family day where extended family and friends could come for cuddles. Before then only very close family and close friends were allowed over. You're doing great lovely! Xx

  • @rachelhotchkiss3277

My little one is 18 weeks now - I only managed to breastfeed for the first 6 weeks but during that time he was exactly the same in that he only settled with my other half! He could definitely smell my milk and just wanted to feed every time I held him. I found it quite frustrating at first, but in hindsight it was quite nice for him to have some bonding time with his daddy - with breastfeeding there isn’t a huge amount that he could do to help! Being a mum is so awesome! There is definitely no better feeling!

Hi Ebony just to say current SIDS guidelines are that baby should sleep in the same room as you (including naps) for the first 6 months so please don't feel like you should be putting her in her own room. Also 1 month is way too soon for a routine, just enjoy her whilst she's so little!

  • @toriharrold

I remember feeling overwhelmed with guests for our first baby. The day we came home from the hospital 2 of my sisters were already at our house. Then we had a midwife visit and other family members arrived, it was chaotic. But when we had our second child it seemed like no one bothered to show up, it was a little sad. So enjoy this first baby attention, soak it all up. You're doing a great job ☺️

Nooo. My daughter had no recognisable routine until 5 months! She’d go through little stints of routine for a few days but not until 5 months did she start settling for naps at regular times! Weaning helped get us into routine I think! My next baby (hopefully), I’m having no visitors for at least two weeks. It was exhausting having so many people coming in when you’ve had zero sleep! 😰 xx

Feeding on demand is the absolute right thing to do. It’s okay not to have a routine, it’s okay to be a mess. It’s okay to not be sure and to just follow your intuition and your baby’s cues. It’s okay to be close to her all the time. It’s all okay Ebony! Coming from a pediatric nurse and a mom of 2 ♥️. Love you.

I totally understand you asking visitors to take a step back. More so after Daisy taken ill. You are well within your right to do so. When my two were babies, my in laws would visit and go to pick my babies up with their outdoor coat out (I had a September baby and a March baby, so was cool outside) I hated them doing that and had to say something. You and David enjoy the early stage, she has a lifetime to be shown to family and friends. Those that matter don’t mind and those that mind don’t matter. xx

Baby is ment to stay next to you in your room for the first 6months so don’t worry about that, and she’s only 4weeks old I would not worry about a routine just yet, my little man has just turned 16weeks and he feeds on demand in the day has a last feed around 10.30pm and sleeps until 5am/6am it all falls into place eventually. Mine also settles better with dad but will settle with me eventually it’s just quicker with him but he held him first when he was born and for a good long time and gave him his first feed as I lost a lot of blood and needed a lot of stitches inside and out so they was busy with me for a good long time before I got to cuddle so I think that’s why,he got dads smell first and finds him comforting. Im a mum of 3 btw. xx

Totally understandable you guys dont have a routine for daisy just yet. When I had my first baby she had colic which meant she had bad wind and would cry from about 5pm-11pm every day. It was extremely stressful for me and my partner and we didn't even think about setting a routine at that point in time. Make things worse when she was about 3 weeks old she caught a viral infection and was in the hospital for about 3 days. Was a complete nightmare! She was so unsettled to the point where I just felt so helpless and when we went home it didn't get any better up until she was about 3 months old. What a hard time that was but now she is 2 she is in a routine and happy as ever. I am now pregnant with my 2nd and i dont know but i think I will be ok this time round. I feel so much more relaxed and feel it will be much easier as I already know what I'm doing. You are doing an amazing Job keep up the good work . Every stage is a learning curb. Godbless !

We’ve personally never had a routine with either of our boys. Even now they’re 5 and 7 we still don’t. Personally I like it. When my eldest was born I was given the EASY care routine or something to follow which tells you when to feed, when to put them down etc and I hated it! I breast fed on demand, and just picked them up whenever. Sometimes I would sit for hours just holding them sleep. I wasted much of my time but I’m so glad I wasn’t stressed about following a routine or constantly click watching. I just wanted to be close to them whenever I wanted not when the routine allowed it!

I can’t stand family/friends coming constantly when you have a new baby. Of course family and friends are gonna want to see the baby. However, I think it’s quite rude for family/friends to come over 4+ plus times a week in the beginning for hours on end. If they were here helping with the house or getting a routine down that would be different. In my experience some family would want to come over 4+ times a week for 5 hours at a time. They would disregard feeding and nap times... Then expected us to visit when stuff needs done or you just want to be napping. That kinda of thing makes it really hard on Mom, Dad, and baby. With my second baby I’m gonna be super stick with letting people come over to see the baby etc. I’m also feeding and putting the baby down when it’s the right time regardless of who’s here and if it hurts there feelings. Getting a routine those first few weeks is hard without people not considering your feelings and what’s best for baby.

Love this I was not told what to expect after birth and it was a shock! I found my baby wouldn’t settle on me either as I breastfed and I’m sure it was because he could smell my milk so don’t be too worried! Also I was advised to keep my baby in our room for the first 6 months because it reduces to risk of SIDS as they follow your breathing pattern or something but you’re doing a great job and daisy is a beautiful little girl sending lots of love 💗

Girl don’t even worry about a routine right now. Our little girl is 2 months and her pediatrician said that she’s not even able to understand a good routine until around 4 months. I hope that eases your mind :) right now we’re on baby’s routine.

My dad always comments on how many visitors they had when they had my brother and I (we're fraternal twins). So believe me, you're not alone in how you feel about the visits. I bet it's a common occurrence, something lots of people think and feel too

I haven’t had a baby yet, I’m currently having fertility issues and going through a lot. But I just wanted to add that when it comes to visitors after I have a baby, it will only be mine and my husbands parents allowed over and that’s it until I’m ready. I will have gone through so much and also after everything Ive went through to have a baby I need that special first while alone as a close family! And if that seems selfish well I don’t really care! :)

I love your videos! :) Your always so honest and make me laugh, Daisy is so so cute and you guys are doing an amazing job :) my son was also lifting his head the day he was born :). I always would count theyre windy smiles too haha :), my son is still in my room over a year old as its just easier for when he wakes up in the night and otherwise he would wake his brothers up. I found the same with my breast fed babies that they settled not as well on me at first they only wanted me for boob and would only cry for it on me, but like you've said it got better after a while my boys are such mummy boys :) You guys are amazing parents and are such a lovely family :)

Sorry I'm commenting again haha! It's recommended that a baby doesn't sleep in their own room until 6 months because your breathing actually regulates theirs. I'm not sure if you know that so wanted to say. Obviously it's completely personal choice though!! As for the paranoia at nighttime.. PLEASE invest in an angelcare monitor! I was so anxious with my son, I was checking him constantly during the night. I bought a monitor when my daughter was born (it goes under the mattress and basically sounds an alarm if baby stops breathing) and it has been an absolute god send! I sleep so much better this time around and I wouldn't be without it!! Highly recommend!!

love these updates, more please :D and you're doing so well, I love despite all the negative things you still love being a mom. Can you make a video on what you expected and the reality of things on all levels like baby wise, how you feel etc? Like I know some ladies who didn't really feel a connection with their baby after birth like they expected to, got very tired of doing mommy things etc. How do you feel about being a mother? What about David? :)

You can get a kind of sock that you put on her when she sleeps that shows her level of oxygen. It connects to your phone and an alarm goes of if theres something wrong. Maybe that can help him relax a bit.

I just had my 9lb baby boy January 18th and you just had daisy January 22nd (my birthday) so I can literally relate to everything. It’s my first born, and me and my hubby have been trying to figure everything out as we go. It is the quite the learning experience! Keep being positive 😁

You look amazing despite the tiredness 😊 Your not supposed to put they into their own room till their 6months plus, but the sleepy head is a fab thing as it helps them feel safe and secure as it mimics how they felt in the womb. Keep up the hard work, your doing fab 👍

My best friend had a Baby Shower for her kids 2 weeks AFTER each baby was born.. She said that it was the greatest decision because all the 'guests' just waited until the baby shower to meet the baby instead of each person popping over at any time... It was all done on the day.

I think we all appreciate the honesty. My little boy is 9 months now snd we still don’t have much if a routine. Hes started ”talking” a little. Goes dada when he wants daddy and boobbii when he wants me, not mum, mama or anything like that, nope, I’m boobie.

No it's not rude of you to say. The last thing I found I needed was a bunch of people constantly around, I needed quiet relaxing time. Think your suggestion of having a one off visiting session is a better idea. You've done really well , well done :-)

I am 8 weeks postpartum and can totally relate to so much of this. Our boy has sort of started a routine at around 6 weeks but we still feed on demand. It is more that he has started doing things on a similar schedule. Have you tried the baby manager app? I have found it really useful to track his sleep and feeding.x
