Its a brilliant pedal,a fantastic toned high gain/low gain distortion which is "super clear" and a very natural full low end,I ordered one on Brett's very accurate review and i am delighted with it,Wampler really leads the way with great drive pedals, they really leap out of the mix, in a live and recording situation,Thank you Brett and thank you Wampler.
Brett is brilliant, he is a really good player with a wide variety of styles his reviews and product tests are totally spot on.So far i have ordered a Wampler Sovereign and an AMT e2 without going to a shop to try them out. The reviews represent very accurate appraisals of the equipment and i am delighted with both my purchases-all because of Brett's reviews!
I've got one. My Les Paul has the 490R 498t setup...the sag blooms on the Sovereign make it unusable. The Wampler team said that lowering the pickups would fix it. I'm not lowering my pickups for one pedal. Sounds great with my Tele though.
Brett, I was looking for a demo of the Sovereign with humbuckers so I could see how it would sound with my Les Paul and my (believe it or not) Charvel CS Mahogany San Dimas. Imagine how thrilled I was to find this demo and your other demo with your Charvel We have similar styles and you definitely sold me on the Sovereign! Thank you so much for these! Cheers, Mike, USA
Currently obsessed with this pedal, looking to pick it up for my Les Paul Smart Wood, so this was a useful demonstration! Also, the Les Paul you demoed it with is one of the more beautiful woodgrains I've seen on an LP! Great vid all around.
Aw!!! Don't like hearing that, I'm sure you have ample equipment to get you by for now. I'll be in Sydney in 2015, and was told to not leave without visiting Melborne. I was hoping to hear you play out while I was there, I'll be happy to pay an inflated cover charge if that helps, lol. Thanks for the reply, be well Brett.
Hey Bman!! Thanks for all your great vids! Can you recommend me a cheap OD that can do it all or is versatile? I don't play live anymore due to health reasons but I just started playing again at home and recording on computer. I have a Laney VC30 and 2 Strats if that helps? Thanks for all the amazing info and reviews!!
That first tone you were using until about :30 is absolutely MASSIVE. This guitar/amp combo in this vid with the pedal is by far my favorite of the three you've posted.
This is the best demo of this pedal I've seen. I own this pedal now, and found that setting the knobs anywhere sounds good. Brett, will you do side by side with the sovereign and the pinnacle? I'm guessing I can get the pinnacle sound from my sovereign by backing it down?
You're very kind Neil, thank you. Unfortunately I cannot grant your wish for a comparison as I no longer own either. I had to sell them and others to pay household bills. Melbourne is a REALLY expensive city to live in. I miss the Sovereign most of all as it is so versatile. Perhaps I'll acquire another one day. I hope so. :) Cheers.
I have a question. Do you think that the mid character knob would tame the voicing to get along with a Vox type amp (chiming and lots of upper mids type el84 amp)? I don't generally play high gain with a Vox type amp, but it would be handy for occasional nastier sounds with that sort of rig.
This pedal is more versatile and will let you "tweak" your sound more than the Riot. In my opinion this is the better pedal. The Riot is a great pedal though.
Fancy that- A Queen sus 4 resolution,a little bit of Thin Lizzy, breaking out into some Judas Priest-(`The Ripper`) All in the first minute- Nice vid and great demo of the pedal-Thanks.
Hello Brett! Can you maybe tell me about the bluesbreaker, i play a strat with a bridge humbucker. Just HOW versatile is it, is it easy to get a good distortion, or is it all blues? I own a T-rex spindoctor, how do you think thats gonna work with a bluesbreaker? ~ Dennis.
Ok I know this is going back awhile to some older posts. I like the pinnacle and the suhr riot better. Brett makes every pedal sound fantastic. This is the best combination right here. It sounds massive. My set up doesn't. Anyway, its not a bad pedal by any means but I also like the brown pig which gets no acclaim. Brett sold me on that one awesome pedal, purple plexi800, jhs angry charlie awesome and jhs all american. Those 4 r my favorites.
The Wampler Mini Tumnus Klon Centaur klone pedal is 100% alive and breathing compared to the buzzing, nasal sounding Way Huge Conspiracy Theory pedal, the Wampler Belle has a similar deep powerful strum feeling of the Earthquaker Devices Westwood Overdrive but with a room filling bass presence. Most 'midrange priced' ($80 to $129) pedals like Animals Pedals or Electro Harmonix Pedals for instance need to be plugged into amps with built in gain like Vox or Marshall amps to extract any gain from them- The circuits in the Tumnus and the Belle through just a single clean channel Princeton Reverb Amp with no gain knob pack hefty wallops of identity assertion. If I didnt already have the JHS 3 series Rat Distortion and the Animals Pedals Tioga Road Cycling Rat clones Id buy the Wampler Ratsbane, Ive been playing guitar since 1994- started buying and taking an interest in guitar pedals around Halloween of 2021. I bought up a whole lot of crappy pedals until I discovered Brian Wamplers stuff. I only have the two Wampler pedals the Tumnus and the Belle. Each time I turn on my amps Im plugged into them. Satisfied. Now I need to look into some Modulation effects like The Earthquaker Devices Dispatch Master_Delay and Reverb pedal and JHS 3 series Flanger. Josh Scott of JHS Pedals on his own youtube channel (The JHS Show) said he felt Brian Wampler makes the best overdrive pedals
Im not Burgerman, but I have some experience and I recommend the Hardwire CM-2 Tube Overdrive. It has 2 modes (classic and modified) so it's really versatile like having 2 pedals in one. The classic side is more tight and less gainy. The modified is more gainy and you can feel the bass a bit more. It has a great transparent tone and feels really well. It cleans up fantastically with your guitar volume knob. Watch the online reviews and you'll know what I'm talking about!

Wow! Sounds great! Very natural saturation sound!
up, way better than the friedman shit !
Great pedal. Wampler Sovereign is one of the best sounding drive-distortion pedals!

A, D and F# bass on the D string. You can hear it in the We Will Rock You Solo by Brian May.
Great demo of this pedal. i enjoy all your videos. Thanks for taking the time to post this.
I was delighted to hear some Van Halen and AC/DC in there! Love the pedal and your playing of course!
”Rosalie” is my OD/Distortion pedal tryout riff! Fantastic sounding pedal. Awaiting mine.
Uhhh when you turn down your volume and it cleans up so well. Dang...
Caleb Mills Incredible!
sounds liek the plexi drive deluxe with testcules ! and hairs !

Sick tone for days! Cheers!

Do you Still have it? Why or why not? Is there current favorite that you have? Videos from 2012 what’s the latest in 2018?

this one! had the RAH, it had noise issues..
@Burgerman666 Awesome job man! Could you compare the Plextortion and the Sovereign please!? I can not decide between the two. Huge fan. :D
is your neck pickup flipped or is that a bridge pickups
I liked this pedal !
Nice playing there! Sounds magnificent! Wish I had a few thousand bucks to spare!
@Burgerman666 what r the chords ur playing from 0:20 to 0:37?

Dear Dennis....sorry I can't right now, but if you wait 10 more years, I must might! lol

Damn, I dont know which overdrive I want to buy of wampler..

I wonder how this would sound through a vox ac30
Brian uses those. So, pretty good I reckons.

The sound(s) are B R I L L I A N T
guitar cables?
Yes, he used guitar cables :)
One of the easiest pedals to use to get many different usable tones. No one trick pony here.
sounds fuckin brilliant

omg this extreme loud popping at 00:11 ... :-/
doesn't sound nice, sry
