Dave Kalama, u are so cool. Pre Buttons K. before he passed away him and Hiriata would always insist anytime i was in Hawaii i had to stay with them, so i did. Back in 2003 or 4 when we first met. Helped him at his surf school. And his addiction because i had been clean from smack back in 1999. But Buttons and my other close friend on the N. shore, Phil Fineman, dubbed Fido. Taught me paddleboarding at Rocky Point when it was small and fun. But now i live in Bali and do conservation ocean volenteer work with the RIP CURL SURF SCHOOL in Sanur, matter of fact the school is doing a Pro longboard SUP contest via Jonni who owns the school, and Scotty who own's Smik now, use to shape for Starboard and Svein sponcering the contest. I hope we get good swell for it to? Looking forward to seeing Insane Zane to. He will be here and last time that guy was in Bali was pre Covid. I love the way Zane works his paddle. He's always very helpful with giving advice. Hey man. Alobrah and peace up. U are an inspirational hero. BUTTON'S to who i truly miss. Stevo.😃😃😃 🌴✌🏄♂️🏄♂️🏄♂️🏄♂️✌🌴
Nice storys brah. I grew up surfing in town(oahu) w Bro Buttons & da Boys, he was such an inspiration to many brahdahs, miss that unique Kanak, Take Care gang!
I danced hula as a young boy with Naomi Kalama in San Jose California. She had a brother Ilima Kalama down in Newport. These Hawaiians helped bring outrigger racing to California. Such cool history.
Joe Rogan and Tony Hawk were talking about Dave and Laird and Rush. Tony was saying how crazy they were, in a good way. For a guy who can go vertical on a skateboard and do a 900 to call someone crazy is really saying something.
Great video! Thanks you for sharing. Dave is legend!
