It's sad it you think about it, yes. But it is the food chain. Feeding Billions of humans. Does a lion feel remorse when it eats an antelope alive? It does not. Food Chain. The entire world has run on it since life spawned. We're just at the top.

I do not agree. Humans are at the top of the food chain, of course, but we are unlike any other animal. We are not at all comparable. Humans have the capacity, intelligence and potentional to work towards a kinder world.
It's important to note that most natural deaths occur, well, naturally. This is profoundly different to the way on which we source our food. I'm not sure about you, but I do not have the ability to kill a cow myself and eat from it. It must be processed and raised in unnatural conditions. It has no quality of life and does not enjoy the liberties that free animals would.
A chicken eaten naturally has had a meaningful, preoccupied life and has had every chance to not get eaten. Chickens can fly to escape and resort to trees. If after all else the chicken gets caught and eaten by a predator then so be it. But the chicken had the liberties of being free and had a reasonable chance to escape. Not every animal on this planet was destined to be eaten. If that was the case, there would be none left. Predators do not decimate entire populations, but rather eat as required. They do not sit down at a burger chain each night consuming a chicken burger doused in sauce and melted cheese on a milk bun. Humans are gluttonous, and we raise our food sources in inhumane conditions to raise funds and be profitable. Livestock are not raised for food, they are raised for making money. There is not humanitarian cause here, there is no desire to feed humanity, for if that was the case there wouldn't be thousands of Australians who go hungry each night.
To say that the practices human utilise is just a natural exertion of being 'just at the top' is ignorant and simply not true. Humanity is fueled by greed at the expense of others. Just look around you.
As Earth's intelligence form of life, we have a responsibility to look after our animal peers. We are compassionate, empathetic and loving beings. Cruelty toward animals is just not of our nature.
@@Matthew_M11 I disagree. It all depends on the kind of farm the animals are raised on. I can agree that factory farms are bad, but I would argue animals on small-scale family farms have better quality of life than animals in the wild. They have unlimited resources (food and water) and more importantly have no stress of predators. Wild animals such as squirrels tend to be extremely twitchy because they spend every moment of their life looking over their shoulder living in fear that a giant monster will run at them and tear them apart. When it comes down to it, I would much rather be a cow living in an “unnatural” family farm environment that has removed these stressors (food, predators) then live in the wild where you have to constantly worry about getting your next meal or surviving predators.
