Former 7.5 owner here. I loved, loved, my 7.5. I test drove the 8 as soon as one hit a local dealer. I really wanted it but just couldn’t let go of my 7.5. Then I test drive an 8 3 times over the course of a year. The driving dynamics were obviously better. Hands down, not even close. But the no buttons & knobs thing did scare me. Especially since I’m old - lol. But by the 4th test drive I realized the tech was really cool & easy to use. And by then the 2023 was out and the screen was much snappier. So I finally traded in my 7.5 😢 The 8 is by far my favorite car I’ve ever owned. I still kinda miss my 7.5 But really, the 8 is simply heavenly in my opinion
I agree with you about the tech! Very impressive but def a learning curve and not as easy to work with. But the improvements to the car overall are sweey
The 22 had a some infotainment glitches. I have the 2023 and I adore the infotainment system. I even really love the touch capacitive buttons. The 8.5 goes back to “real” buttons on the steering wheel. And will come with a big screen 📺 slammed on the dash versus the current integrated screen. I’m going to be giving my car - the S trim - to my son next year once he graduates from graduate school & will be buying myself a new one - probably an SE because I like the cloth seats. I’m leaning towards the 2024 because I like the integrated screen. And the capacitive buttons. But the tech in the 2025 is supposed to be a significant upgrade. For me, I don’t really care about that because I think the current tech is all anyone could ever need. Anyway, decisions decisions 😉
“Pretty thin” steering wheel?? I guess it depends what you’re used to. I mean, it’s not BMW M-car-comically thick, but I think it’s quite meaty - noticeably more than the Mk7, and more than anything from Porsche, for example.

May get this car trying to take it for a test drive in near future. Driving my mk7.5 currently and loving the interior design vr mk8 😊
Do it!

You can put whatever you want on the drop down shortcut menus, including the ESC
