Hi Kelly, it is possible to see student faces in Collaborate Ultra, but, in my opinion, it's not as convenient as a Zoom meeting. Collaborate Ultra is set up to view the video image of the active speaker, but the instructor/moderator can set the session to view attendee videos as thumbnails. I believe only 5 or 6 student web cams can be showing as thumbnails at once. By default, video is turned off, so a student would need to turn it on. Here is Blackboard's help page on video for Collaborate: help.blackboard.com/Collaborate/v12/Moderator/Configure_Your_Session/Video. Hope that helps.
Here is a video specifically on sharing a slideshow: ruclips.net/video/6H3R-E_pgEY/видео.html. You can either share your screen/application or share files. If you choose to share application, just make sure to open the slideshow before entering the course room. The start/stop record button is under the session menu button in the top left corner of the screen after you enter the Collaborate course room.
The program is not free. However, if your institution already uses Blackboard learning management system, you may have access to it. Ask your educational technologies specialist if your school has Blackboard Collaborate Ultra.
clearly explained...thanks.
Can the students see my screen as I search for a file to share?
Thank you for this! I'm curious...will I see my students' faces like I would in a typical Zoom session?

@@jocelynireland7626Thank you! I think I will give Collaborate a try, and if it doesn't feel right, I may switch to Zoom. I appreciate your help!
Thanks - nice tutorial. Can you show tutor's face while presenting slides?
Yes, you can share files and participants can see your web cam at the same time. Your web cam window will be very tiny though.
