I once had a dream where a man's voice said, "You are salt." it was at the beginning when I started taking Christianity seriously, even if I grew up in a Christian home. I've had my ups and downs. But I remember those three words.
The idea of Jesus using salt to convey “preserving the earth” is not an accurate reading of the text. He’s obviously talking about salts flavor. Not it’s preserving properties. How do we know this? Because it says “if the salt hath lost its SAVOR”. I believe the correct interpretation would be to view it through the lens of cooking. Since that is the where the application is it’s savor is used and REQUIRED for good food.
Good breakdown, i dare to believe that the true 'meaning' behind any verse/set of verses is somewhere in between the actuate translation of words and the actuate interpretation of the message those words are meant to convey. Im not contending your interpretation, just thought the message conveyed in this scene was beautifully put.

For some reason, pastors often use this verse to reference salts preserving qualities. I don’t know why. Because that’s not what’s being talked about here.
Also muslims got this idea of salf of the earth of God. SO being salt of the earth is preserving it from the evil or there is anything else I would like to know more and thanks
