Not failures, just uncertain. A production can be a mess behind the scene and still produce and excellent video (see "A dead person ruined my life... Again")
The videos themselves have been successful, but their production has been a failure for Grey (the time and energy spend making them went way beyond what he planned for)
Every year, Grey promises himself to follow his original plan and stay on track. And every year, Grey makes an interesting detour and makes a completely different plan, that would be the Tiffany videos and Sharks!
Cortex Animated is one of the best things on the Internet. Grey's parents were amazing, but then the flashback sequence was just …perfection. Thank you for doing these.
I loved the Tiffany one, and the insight into what "research" actually means. Loved sharks because pedantry and laws are some of my favorite topics. But, I am still waiting for the Indian series, in which you research American History.
Random, but the building at 0:13 used to be a lovely care home, where my wonderful grandad spent the final years of his life; so I probably had a slightly more emotional reaction to this video than many people!
The thumbnail for this one has an awesome "3 weird sisters" vibe! 😆 Also, thank you CM Boutet for all of these amazing animation vids... 🥰 They have basically infinite rewatch & entertainment value, even if one hasn't yet caught up to the relevant podcast episode!
Brilliant as always! To have picked up on the one comment about "...not doing anything different" and matching that to the plethora of times Grey changed his recording setup was genius!
Cortex is a truly timeless podcast. I just caught on this episode and a few before about MtG, theme system, and swamp of uncertainty. I then went on to review SHARKS!, tiff, poem videos now with more context on how it messes with Grey's life. Now here I am, watching an animation about EVERYTHING mentioned above with extra contexts of all those audio shenanigans. This is just delightful!
I am loving these recent videos of Gray picking topics that has him going down a really specific rabbithole, too concerned with if he could find the answer, never thinking if he should. It has led him to the graveyard trying to find the grave of a dead person, a Nuclear Weapon Plant, Sharks! and Tiffany's epiphany. All of which have caused him endless frustration and me an endless supply of dopamine. Thank you Grey.
Holy shit, I loved the sharks and Tiffany videos!!! The Tiffany ones especially... Watching you through your research process and seeing your anguish and discovery is a perfect combination of hilarious, pitiable, and important for causing the spark within the curious.
Yeah, Sharks was fantastic, and the Tiffany outtakes showed me London libraries which blew my MIND! Those are amazing and tiny and twisty and out of order because they are SO OLD, I can’t believe those things. Much love to those 2 videos you referenced, Grey, they are worthy additions to an impressive list of Top Tier content!
just want to mention that I personally loved the Sharks! (cause you have to have the exclamation point,) video, and a friend of mine regularly quotes it. "Oooooonne shark in the water."
For some reason I refuse to believe that anyone has ever taught their parent to play Magic the Gathering. Every magic player tries and fails at some point. It is the curse
Ironically, "The Battle of SHARKS!" and "Someone Dead Ruined My Life... Again." are two of my favorite CGP Grey videos of all time.
Someone dead ruined my life again speaks to my obsessive soul
Me to
In junc Ted!!
Yeah, they are really freaking great.
Those microphone mischief flashbacks after Grey's 'I wouldn't do anything differently' are gold *chef's kiss*
Sheer genius.
Why can I only like comments once?! That was one of my favourite overall Cortex moments!
And then myke's revenge.
"2021."
I just started giggling, I could not stop :) hehehehehe
Why is he so bugged with setups changing?
'Sharks!' and 'Tiffiny2' were considered failures? I LOVED those videos! Two of Greys best! I don't get it!

I showed ‘Sharks!’ to everyone I knew. I loved it.
I agree
Cortex Animated is one of the best things on the Internet. Grey's parents were amazing, but then the flashback sequence was just …perfection. Thank you for doing these.
The flashbacks of grey being a mischievous teenager are the best thing I've ever seen in an episode. Good work!
I love that the Greys are an adorable robot family
I loved the Tiffany one, and the insight into what "research" actually means. Loved sharks because pedantry and laws are some of my favorite topics.

Holy crap, the animations are getting so unbelievably good! I love all of the amazingly detailed backgrounds!
Best animation yet. Love the design of the parents.
Glad to see you're having a good time, CGP
My favorite part is drawing Pa and Ma Grey as an old cell phone and computer respectively lol
The second Tiffany video was the most enjoyable of any of Grey’s videos ever.
Speaking as a long time Grey viewer, those three videos are some of the most entertaining. So I vote for them not being failures.
Random, but the building at 0:13 used to be a lovely care home, where my wonderful grandad spent the final years of his life; so I probably had a slightly more emotional reaction to this video than many people!
Tiffany is the greatest saga I've watched unfold

Always extra fun when you make those extra editorial decisions, Hm Boutet!
I’m only donating because of that suspicious crewmate in my abandoned Spaceship You.
I love Grey teaching his mom Magic, so sweet.
one of the best animations, making your own versions of the Tiffany's, and the grey patent bots! awesome flashbacks too. damn
I’ve always enjoyed these animations, but this one is S tier 🤣😂
Mike has "Levels Levels" PTSD...

Thank you Grey.
Oh my god I think this might be your best animation yet! Absolutely amazing!! 😍
Tiffany is one of my favorite videos of all time - including professional movies. It was fantastic.
This is the best one so far
Holy shit, I loved the sharks and Tiffany videos!!! The Tiffany ones especially... Watching you through your research process and seeing your anguish and discovery is a perfect combination of hilarious, pitiable, and important for causing the spark within the curious.
I love how these shorts match and sometimes surpass the views of their respective episodes on youtube.
There is something satisfying about seeing the Tiffanys animated.
Tiffany2 was the first Grey video I saw. I have now binged all of them, and it’s still the first one I show people.
I love how Grey's Mom is an Apple III. Nothing else to add but I just like that.
Grey's Dad is a TI-83 😂
0:27 Those stick figures don't look like what usually appears in CGP Grey's channel that nicely
0:57 It's confirmed; Grey is a cross between an Apple III and a TI-83!
"thats my review of the 2020 year of the voyage" yeah it still feels like we're in 2020, you're not alone!

Awww, poor Myke
just want to mention that I personally loved the Sharks! (cause you have to have the exclamation point,) video, and a friend of mine regularly quotes it. "Oooooonne shark in the water."
These are always so fun but that existential crisis was 🤌🏻
I appreciate that Mom Grey is a Monitor ///
Love how his mom is like older model of robot 😂
we need an animated review of thinking fast and slow
The thumbnail is so adorable, someone please make it a gif of 0:26
I LOVED SHARKS!
One of my favourite videos of yours
Tiffany? No comment 😂
But seriously all your content is always amazing
Hold on…. This is grey from the history and learning channel! (I guess you can call it that-)
Versions of sharks and Tiffanys are great
Haha, love the last part
Oh my god that was perfection!
These are always so amazing
HM just keeps pushing the awesomeness envelope.
Loved "Sharks!"
Tiffany was funny & I enjoyed all of the vids
I always love these!
The last 1/3 of this video was pretty well done.
So much. And yet, I love every reference that only a few people on the Internet get. This show. Man. Yeah. 🤭
Tiffany2 was an excellent video: I can understand why it's niche, but I've shared it with a bunch of friends & family who understand research holes :D
Soo good!! 👍 well done 👏
What episode did cgp drop his mic again?
I love the new thumbnail 😂
For some reason I refuse to believe that anyone has ever taught their parent to play Magic the Gathering. Every magic player tries and fails at some point. It is the curse
I have to say the part where you learned magic to your mother I liked
Those ones where my favourite
Wait, RUclips never notified me of the shark video. I'll go watch it now.
OMG! This is a Best, I love you episode 😁
CGP, I don't think we can be friends anymore... You're not right for this one man 1:10
no one noticed the mogus that appeared after grey split the spaceship in half
I think that Sharks represents the research process pretty well
Who made these videos?
Sharks and tiffinies are failures????? I LOVE THEM SO MUCH
I'm just here for Sharks!
I guess you had to be there
This one was awesome
Gorgeous animation, but seeing robot Grey animated just makes me sad and nostalgic for Hello Internet :(
CGParents Grey
I guess seeing the shark statue was a premonition. You didn't know it, but you jumped the shark.
Something sus at 0:09
Sharks! - a video with 2M views is considered a _failure_ !?
Love these videos
