@@MetalSchoolChannel Okay, I have a serious request for you. I have been tracking the career of one Wally Passet online. He is famous (or infamous) for being the burned-out-looking singer of the Wally World Encinitas video "Raise Some Kaine" that went viral as a "bad" music video -- even though the music is pretty good. Turns out the guy has been rocking since at least 1980, and was in the metal band Snakebyte (live footage of which can be found online from 1984) and other bands. What I admire is that like the guys in Anvil, he kept on rockin' despite lack of commercial success. His singing is actually better in the Raise Some Kaine video than in 1984, in my opinion. He looks worse but sings better. Venemous compilation (2014) is another thing he was part. I've known a lot of guys like him from the 1980s but none who were in a viral video as he was. People make fun but the song's good and his singing is good.
Really enjoying your videos Thanks for shining a light on some of these great uncommon(and sometimes obscure bands) that time has seemed to have forgotten, Would you be able to do 1 about 220 volt from Sweden, Trance also from Germany called mistreater From Ohio, Thanks I have a great day Jesiah.
Would love to see an episode about Heaven's Gate from Germany. They were awesome in the mid 90's but then they changed their style and split-up a few years later.
Spotify are the Devil for musicians! If you want to support them buy there physical product or a t shirt. One lousy cent ! The average income for a pro musician these days is 12 grand a year. So don't give your money to these streaming platforms if you're a actual fan , they see none of it .
I can't believe you covered these guys! A doc on a band I grew up with so fucking cool my old metal ears eyes thank you when we were young people these bands so special rebellion with a soundtrack poseurs couldn't touch horns up to ya thanx you make an old heads day!
Stormwitch is the single most influential band of all my projects, so much so on the upcoming Smith & Swanson record being released on No Remorse Records there is a song called "Song for Harry" which is in no obvious way whatsoever dedicated to Harold Spenglar. Without him I am nothing.
Great channel. So much fun. Thanks for spending so much time putting them together. Love your commentary too. ...Standing in front of a fire and wielding a double mace...I wouldn't change anything!
Stormwitch was one of my favourite Bands back in the 90th and i still love their "old" stuff. Unfortunatelly what once was a great band has become the "Andy-Mück-Show" when Spengler and Kauffmann left the band after "Eye of the Storm". Rumor has it, that since back then the real witch in Stormwitch is Andy Mück's girlfriend and runs their management now... It's said, that it's extremely hard to work with the management and her ideas of where the band is heading to, music wise... Hence the disbanding at the end of the 90th and the many lineup-changes that happened since their reunion in 2002...
The other day, I was listening to the albums you recommended, while I was protesting in the streets of France ! The perfect soundtrack ! Hope you cover Edguy, one day!
It is so great that you all review more fringe bands, because there is not much to add to the success and pride for the big bands of those times. Those reviews are done. keep going. Get German Band Steeler and Axel Rudi Pell. One of my favorite German acts.
I discovered them in the early 90s, listening to The Beauty and the Beast all day long and after that to the newly released War of the Wizards (it had a strong Lord of the Rings vibe to me). After Shogun, I lost interest, didn't like the way it developed and focused on my favorite 5 albums - all those you named as the Homework ;) And then my music taste changed more to the heavier parts of the metal genre. In the early 2010s I heard they were still around and bought their 2002 and 2004 albums without hesitation - but didn't like them and forgot about it once more. And now you come along and rekindle my 'a teenagers first step into metal' feelings and bring back old memories... Thank you for that 😌
I got walpurgis night 8 years ago and my brother got Stronger than heaven. But we have listened all their 80's álbums and some of the 00's too. It was one of more favorite bands for me. I love their music
I'm not into metal that much but these profiles are so well done I keep coming back to watch another! I owned a short-lived little record store in 1983-84 and got into the metal wave due to popular demand. I remember Stormwitch being one the bands we carried, along with Witchfynde and Witchfinder General.
Wow, thanks for this one. Classic Stormwitch is a Top5 metal band for me, I loves them as a teenager, and still do after 30 years. You can't really go wrong with the first 4 records, and I also like Eye of the storm, even though a couple of songs are too cheesy on that album. Also, War of the wizards is great, because each song has an infectious hook, a chorus, a bridge, or twin guitar harmonies. Shogun was miserable, as is the rest of their discography. High Roller Records did a terrific job with the vinyl reissues of the first 4 records and they did sell like hot cakes. God, how I love their early stuff, thanks again.
I feel like walking down somewhere totally undiscovered..most of the bands you've covered is totally new to me..Thank you.. and more power to you..✌️♥️🤘
One of my weirdest gig moments was in Hungary (I was on holiday) when I went to see Stormwitch play with a friend I was staying with. It was a pretty good gig (in the open air). The weird bit was the band covered the Doors song "Roadhouse Blues" but for some reason did the live version that is on Status Quo's live album from Glasgow which features (for the Scottish audience) music to do a Scottish Highland Fling. So there I was watching a German band in Hungary do a Doors song from a Quo live album with a Scottish jig! I danced a Highland type jig to it to the general bewilderment of the Hungarians around me! I suppose it proves that music is truly international. If it hadn't been for Hungarian friends I would never have heard of these guys or indeed seen them live. They were as I said pretty good, tight and had some decent melodies. The singer danced like a loon which I did find amusing (well he was enjoying himself...). Nice video and a great way to introduce a little known band to more people. Good work!
I never heard anything after Eye of the Storm. Stronger than Heaven was my favorite. I like that songs Rats in the Attic. This is a cool retrospective. Nicely done. Thanks for posting!
Phenomenal video. I am loving your channel so far. Your work on Running Wild was remarkable! If you accept requests, I think you should give the band ADX a chance: they are one of the oldest French Metal bands, going all the way back to the 80s, and they have an extremely consistent discography. Worth your time.
Of all the bands this channel introduced me to in greater detail, I'd have to rank Stormwitch as my favorite so far. Eclectic mix of elements from Iron Maiden, Running Wild and Helloween, which worked together surprisingly well most of the time.
All their albums are great, including Dance with the Witches and Witchcraft, which I also consider great. The first metal album that I got on vinyl was Eye of the Storm (simply because it was one of the first metal albums to appear in the local record shops) . Also they were quite popular in the former socialist block as they were the first western metal band to play in my country (it was such a remarkable show with more than 5000 or even 10 000 visitors. There were many great German bands back then- Running Wild, Helloween, Stormwitch, Heavens Gate, Chroming Rose, Scanner. Axxis ...
The Album „Eye of the Storm“ is legendary just because of the Song „Rondo ala Turca“. A brilliant Metal-Version of Mozarts „Rondo ala Turca“. For me this was the reason to buy this Album.
I really enjoy all of your videos! Well researched and presented 🤘🏼 Just throwing it out there, a Metal School doc on Cacophony would be pretty epic. Interesting history of the band as well as the guitarist Marty Friedman and Jason Becker each having their own story that takes many turns! Just started watching your stuff today, lovin your stuff so far it's nice to see videos about metal that aren't just from the more extreme genres. Did you ever think about doing a rock school video, like maybe UFO or The Almighty?
Missed my favourite song "Russia's on fire" and the amazing Mozart instrumental "Turkish March" in this. Plus they got a live album (recorded in Hungary) from the "Beauty and the Beast"-Tour with all the "hits". Cheers from germoney
I love the album Shogun which is in my opinion underappreciated. Most bands go through a certain experimental period within their development. I also like the albums The Beauty and the Beast, Stronger Than Heaven, Walpurgis Night
Masque of the Red Death is probably my favorite song by them. Priest of Evil is a good one too. Tears by the Firelight is one of my favorite ballads (along with Strawgirl by Virgin Steele). Always thought they had surprisingly good lyrics despite some of the cheesiness. Great band.
For me, Witchcraft has the sound they were tirelessly looking for, but for some reason something is missing, the best tracks Sinister Child, Witchcraft and Blood Lies In My Hands, on the other hand Shogun has the best guitar playing of their career making it the best album for me, because I'm into neoclassical just too much, (by the way The Armada the band from Damir has a similar sound to Symphony X firsts albums) ... And the first 4 albums are deep in me, I just love them... You Are Bound To The Witch...
I remember there was some shit going on in the band between Andy and the current OR past Line-up. Followed them on facebook and there was a statement of the band (not sure if it was the current or former members) about Andy and his girlfriend and toxic things were said and they do not want to be connected to anything Andy does or something like that. I think the official Facebook page has been closed because of that, so I have noc chance to look it up. But I would be very interested what exactly happend there :O Until then I am listening to the songs before.
