My son's 10 and after seeing my Condor figure in hand, he's willing to put aside some of his allowance money for a figure of his own. He has his eye set on an Urban Trooper and Urban Gear pack. It's a bit of money (for kid allowances anyway), but the fact that it's captured his interest to the point where he doesn't want to save up for a Roblox or a Minecraft gift card for online purchases says something.
Michael you are exactly right. I used to work for Microsoft, a company that WOULD NOT EXIST if not for the laziness of IBM. Hasbro is being just as lazy and arrogant as IBM was. History don't repeat, but it sure does rhyme. I have 100% confidence that Bobby and Valaverse will go FAR. I look forward to the day where Hasbro goes to Bobby and offers to buy his company and he laughs and says, "Oh, HELL no."
4h are actually the first to do this I think..mythic legions are my main line I collect and what the 4h have done is remarkable and paved the way for what Bobby is doing..know also im all in on AF..im.loving action force and just got my wasp raider in yesterday and waiting on bbts to get all my second and third figures for customs..right now 4h legions and Bobby's AF are my main lines and im loving them all..but def gotta give the credit to 4h..love the vid..and can't wait to see what all Bobby comes up with..ill be getting it all
You're so right about focus being splintered...4 different Star Wars lines, 3 different MOTU lines, 5 different companies making dozens of different TMNT figures, the action figure industry is going to collapse in on itself at some point. There are original properties out there, but it's so tough for new lines to break into the market these days without the animation/comic book dynamic of the 70s/80s/90s. Valaverse seems to be doing it their own way, the right way. Bobby is setting trends, not chasing them.
Your passion is so sincere and the way you articulate what you want to say is so well thought out and cohesive, it makes me wanna get some of these and I've never even heard of them 'til now. Terrific vid, bro! Extremely well done!
Michael another company doing something similar is Four Horsemen with their Mythic Legions (fantasy) and Cosmic Legions (sci fi) lines. Do you have any thoughts on those?
Is there a mythos with the Joytoy mechs? It seems like they’re just over there putting out cool looking toys with environments and figure packs. I couldn’t be less interested in 6” scale but if you give me a 3.75” figure with a big hulking machine to climb in, I’m game. Exo-squad arguably did it the best until now.
They've been putting out some great stuff, they we're clearly ripping off Titanfall in the beginning though, no idea if they any lore behind it though.
This line isn't technically "my jam", but the level of quality for a first time figure company is insane. My friends love them, and you can really see the dedication to putting out a great product.
I have to respectfully disagree on a few points, firstly Four Horsemen has had mythic legion before the inception/ release of the current action force line, with it's own lore as well, I will conceede that it didn't have the buzz of Action Force has enjoyed. Also with the MOTU origins line (admittedly this line is not at all original) but it was a line meant to bridge between adult collectable and kids toy (I can attest to this as I have a fairly sizable collection, and my kid is also in to them). As for your discussion of AF being original/unoriginal (I have only read the first 3 comics) Robotech, and Star Trek, don't really have clear cut villains. Unlike GI Joe (and both incarnations of Action Force) neither Trek or Robotech started off as a toy line and thus did not need a clear cut villain like the other lines. Klingons were only in a handfull of original series episodes, and while clearly belligerent they are not the constant source of woe or conflict like say cobra or the decepticons. while the Valaverse AF may be more than a GI Joe rip off/ reskin, the swarm's similarity to cobra i think has more to do with the format a story for a toy line takes versus the story one tells independently of that. Saying that I do agree that the valaverse line is exciting and impressive (i am still patiently awaiting my BBTS preorder). i just wanted to say my peace on the finer points, and show one can disagree on the internet and do so respectfully :)
@ Nerd Rage. Correct me if I am wrong (please do as I am not 100% certain) but I don’t believe Mythic Legions has created any “lore” beyond the text they put on their site and/or figure boxes. Now, I am not downplaying the time and effort however that the Horsemen put into said Lore they have created but I feel there is a major point of distinction between simply writing text on a site versus spending the time, money and resources into getting a comic off the ground to truly put the story/lore into the hands of the customer. Bobby has also stated that he plans on doing animation at some point and the movie is also supposed to start filming by years end per Bobby. Again, I don’t want to sound like I am minimizing the work of the 4H but we both know that Legions is much longer running and more popular brand than this Brand New AF line from Valaverse so I don’t think it’s a “money issue” keeping Legions from truly expanding their mythology into other avenues for their customers, it’s more a choice on their part. To that end, I think it’s quite clear imo that Valaverse is just really trying to prioritize the mythology of the line, not just the figures, as well as simultaneously expanding it and growing the exposure. I do believe Legions did something along the lines of going to release/have released a mobile video game though if I heard correctly so if that’s true, good on them for trying ti step up the story/customer experience for the brand cause that’s pretty cool.
@@CobraSaboteur that’s fair, the lore certainly is not played to the level of having comics, or a movie, but my point is that there is lore, there as well an ML is still an original IP. The push of the comic may contribute to the buzz for AF being more prominent that it was for ML.
I’ll tell you Michael, I didn’t know much about this line when it first launched. It somehow stayed under my radar, until about 2 weeks ago. I started diving into yours and Analog Toys’ videos on the IP, where it came from, and what Bobby Vala is now doing with it. The community as well, seems so genuine. So with that, I had to add them to my toy collection. Hopped on Valaverse’s home page, and just started clicking add to cart lol. That Crimson Shadow Arsenal pack???? MY GOD. What a gift to 1/12 collecting. I REALLY hope this line continues to evolve and grow through the community and becomes a mainstay. Valaverse truly is something special in a market overflowing with reheated ideas. How can you not support this??? I’m in all the way.
Really appreciate your points here. I’ve been totally in on this line since Tony and other’s videos. Got to see the prototypes at JoeFest last year, and my son looked at me and said we had to get them. Bobby, at the booth, said “he’s hooked you!” And speaking of that personal type of interaction… I work for a smaller company and the relationship building that Bobby has done is very similar to what we do for our services and wouldn’t you know, customers respond well to it.
You may have heard of that Chinese 1/18 toy company Joy Toy. Their Warhammer figures are pretty cool right now. Being formerly from England I think you might be interested. I want to hear your opinion on it.
@@PelinalDidNothingWrong It’s a new toy company from China. Right now they have mostly primaris marines figures for the Imperium, some black legionaries and some Chaos terminators. All in 1/18 scale.
I have to say I ordered Slaughter back when these were 1st announced because I wanted a 6 inch Sarge figure , but I grabbed a Swarm Trooper and that arrived 1st and I have to say this line just hits different , even when you open the package you can tell the care that has gone into them and they are absolutely beautiful figures , i can't wait to grab even more of them
What you said Michael, is true, the toy industry is looking for existing IPs to sell to us, but there aren't a lot that are creating something new. It's the same with cinema, we need to support those like Valaverse, who are trying to break that cycle. I found out about Action Force (original) because of Analog Toys, and because of Tony and you about the new AF. I made my preorder for the second wave, and I can't wait for the third. Great video, keep it up man.
For me, this isn't Action Force.... BUT, before I get piled on by everyone - I don't mean that as a bad thing. I grew up with the original AF (well, second iteration) so it will forever be Z-Force, S.A.S. Q-Force and Space Force against Ironblood and the Red Shadows... so this isn't it! HOWEVER, I love the Valaverse AF line as a great toy line in it's own right! And I do appreciate what Bobby is doing here, it's an incredible effort. These are fantastic new figures and I can't wait to see where it goes... the new figures previewed look amazing, the female figures too look far, far better than anything we've got from other companies... also, the upcoming Crimson Shadow Trooper will feed my love of the old AF, if you know what I mean. One last point - on something Michael said - how much of the old AF line licence/TM is up for grabs? Whilst I want all these new figures, it would be great to get modern take on Skip for example, or Dolphin etc. and also Baron Ironblood.
I believe on one of the podcasts that Bobby said he wanted to get the Baron but that he couldn’t secure the rights. He also said that the design of that character is pretty unique but that he has ideas on how to incorporate him into this line.
@@starlord157 Shame he couldn't get the licence - but I think his unique look is the great thing about him... afterall, you don't want the figures to all look the same... perhaps something similar to Director Krennic, with the front panel of his tunic Red... make it more a uniform than a white onesie 😁
I personally enjoy the G.I. Joe classified series (when I can find the figures) and also bought 3 figures from the Action Force line. I don't think the Action Force figures are expensive, you are getting a bunch of different hands, accesories and other stuff that justifies, at least to me, the price difference. Besides, I think both lines can work together (from a collector's point of view), why would you not take the chance to get some nice figures just because they are not made by the company you usually get them from? I think fans need to understand that "brand loyalty" is not really the best for you...
Solid points as always, Michael. The industry has stagnated in terms of both quality and over-reliance on licenses/existing IP's. Back in the late 70's and early 80's there were NEW lines and NEW concepts popping up all of the time. It was exciting to dive into IP's like ARAH or Transformers because everything was NEW! I applaud Bobby for creating a mythos to drive his line as opposed to just a series of generic figures. That is what makes things exciting!
With the possible exception of the W.W.II German Stormtrooper, the 1st wave Action Force didn't really have baddies, back story or mythos. They were just small scale Action-men for kids to create their on adventures with.
That mini-montage showing all the companies aquired and bought out by Hasbro made me realise; They are The Tyranids of the toy industry, they just consume all they see to add to themselves with very little hope to stop them.
A thoughtful and entertaining video from Michael French for RetroBlasting, that not only highlights just how good the Valaverse Action Force action figure toyline really is, but also details the whole concept behind the Valaverse Action Force, as created by Bobby Vala.
I was super excited for Classified when it came out. But with the direction it's taking (less futuristic reimaging, more straight homage to originals), Action Force has swept right in and surpassed Hasbro in my heart. Not to mention that they have MORE accessories, better paint apps, better sculpts and more options, all within roughly $7 of the Classified price point.
Here's the weird thing. That Action Figure Toy Play of Good Guys vs the Bad Guys. That was actually really really new and mostly just came in with those specific toylines Mike mentioned. Prior to Star Wars Toy Companies did not like making Bad Guy Toys. For the same reason they did not like making female "Action Figures". Because they sold so much worse than the hero characters. Yes there was conflict play in the forms of the classic Green Army Men and similar cast plastic Cowboy and Indian figures. But the Action Figure lines of named characters? Very very little. The fantastic Marx Johnny West Line had one single Bad Guy character. The Lone Ranger line just had Butch Cavendish. You could have a crook to capture. Mego started it a bit with their 8" Worlds Greatest Super Heroes and Star Trek lines. But other than the Klingon none of the villains were great sellers. GI Joe never had an enemy (please pay no mind to the dwarf space caveman). Big Jim didn't have any. The first line that maybe had a broader spread of popular antagonists might have been Planet of the Apes? Micronauts had Baron Karza and the Acroyers which was a start. Although the comics made Acroyer a hero. And then suddenly there was Star Wars with its clear factions and team good guy team bad guy. And then next we saw the new GI Joe vs Cobra and the crown jewel Autobots vs Decepticons. All within a span of around 5-6 years.
Action Force is exciting. I love the feeling of being in on the initial release of something new and innovative. Bobby's willingness to be transparent about the process of toy design and manufacturing makes Valaverse even better because he's allowed us to become emotionally invested in the toys and the toymaker.
So do you think the new popularity or Action Force is why we have seen the extreme change in direction in the G.I. Joe Classified line as of recently? Hasbro focusing more on classic deco and now actually using realistic(realish) weapons instead of the nerf guns?
Action force is really promising, but I really hope the qc issues get fixed in future waves. The amount of figures I've seen break right out of the box online is a little scary.
@@k-dawgbroadcasting5444 lol the big issue will be if Valaverse improves. NECA has literally stated they make semi posable statues, and are not even going to attempt "fixing" anything. They got your 30 bucks for Super Shredder, they don't care it's arm snapped off in the box. We'll have to see if Valaverse does, they deserve a chance and they haven't issued a "deal with it" response.
@ Daniel Watts. I am not saying you are doing this, but I’ve seen plenty of people that see several posts online amplify and boost the signal to turn it into a bigger issue than it is. As someone who has ordered and currently owns a very large amount of AF figures, I can state that I have had zero issues with breakage. My father has opened about a dozen figures and I have opened more than 3 times that with all the troop builders. I understand mileage may vary but in my first hand experience of handling over 50 individual AF force figures and not having a single one break, I consider that slightly more than anecdotal. However, I did follow the instructions provided in the box and heated up all of the figures thoroughly. When it came to switching hands, I found myself heating up the wrists more than once on certain figures. I also keep my house at 70 degrees pretty much permanently so I’m not sure if that played a role in repeated heating but it probably didn’t help. Having said that, the very next AF figure I open, could be the first one that snaps at a joint, who knows. I’ve first hand seen my son snap joints right out of the box on 4 marvel legends figures and that’s a toy line that is 20 years old and literally thousands of figures deep so shit does happen. However he does have over 100 Legends so the failure rate is below 4%, which is the important part. The question I ask myself when I see someone online post about a figure breaking is this; is the guy who opened dozens of the same figure and didn’t break a single one…also posting online that his figure DIDN’T break? Probably not. Now if you opened and posed a Neca figure without it snapping and breaking, than you probably should make a post about that as that’s pretty much finding a unicorn lol. Michael said it best with them…their figures are made with glued together sawdust lol. Neca…what a fucking shit company…20 years of producing figures too, what a joke. Calling a spade a spade though, my experiences with AF have not been without frustration. Heating the hands up a lot, as well as feet to fit the stand pegs, did get old. Also, the removable vests are a absolute pain in the ass to close back up once opened and highly annoying. However, I take comfort in the fact that Bobby has specifically stated that he is aware of those exact issues and that they are already corrected for the very next series 2. Considering this line has only just begun, and to know and see that it is quickly shaping up to become bigger and better is just so exciting and was exactly what I needed as a rather seasoned and jaded collector at this point lol.
Excellent explanation of Action Force now Michael. Though I only have a pre order on Desert Rat right now, I am seriously wanting to invest into this line because of what it strongly represents right now. Thank you again for knocking this video out of the park.
if you guys want a full breakdown on the history of action force. head over to toy galaxy's channel, he has a full video tell you the history of the line and how hasbro was doing gi joe at the same time.
@Timothy Ward. Exactly. I mean does Toy Galaxy even own any Action Man/Action Force figures? Tony/Analog Toys literally eats/sleeps/bleeds AM/AF. Rumor has it that every time a parent/grand parent finds some original AF figures in a garage or attic and discards them as junk, Tony gets the cold sweats that night…poor guy.
That was perfectly explained. I have noticed that there has been a lot of hate on Valaverse. I like GI Joe but these Valaverse are a better buy for your money and have better accessories
Star Wars is an updated Flash Gordan vs. MING... swiped concept.... Action Force us basically THE CORPS to G.I.Joe Only ordered a few, because the design looks good that's all. Some looks better than others
I never said Star Wars wasn't inspired by something else, but EVERYTHING has been "swiped" by your definition. Using your logic, we should just give up and sit on our hands and eat mac and cheese with our faces just smushed into the bowls because what else is worth thinking about anymore.
@@retroblasting Basically if the toys look good, folks will buy it. It just happens that this last 2 sets of Action looks really good... that it caught my attention... for the very first time. Know absolutely nothing about it's storyline. Heard of the the name prior, but know knew nothing.... these new sets, just good specs, good colors... so if they keep it up... folks will buy it
Alright! Fine! I just pre-ordered Sgt. Slaughter. I've watched a few of the Valaverse RUclips videos and they seem like great guys. Real military guys. They've sold me. You've sold me. I'm buying.
I got to tell you I am super excited to hear a company sticking with a single scale for its action figures. One of the many reasons I've been deeming the toy aisle "the disappointment section" for the last 15 years. One of my all-time favorite franchises, MOTU, not only has multiple different scales, but three different mythologies. What a fucking nightmare. If any kid ever said that they wanted a He-Man figure nowadays, there's a high likelihood they're not going to get the one they actually wanted. It's worse than the Voltron debacle of the '80s.
Very interesting video Michael, I have Wave 1 in hand it’s absolutely great, do you think that we might begin to see more companies creating 6 inch military lines when Valaverse grows in popularity? (Wave 1 has completely sold out here in the UK aswell)
Another great video Michael, Really want to get these they look great but, I gotta get the comics first which are currently sold out but, also concerned about the figures breaking and snapping. I know that's not unique problem limited to just valaverse and, I know you addres this by solving the problem using a hair dryer but, im seeing more videos popping up about the valaverse figures limbs breaking off so, im wondering if is more of an issue with this particular line of figures which is making me hesitant and, how does the hairdryer help, how long do I use it for and and should I use it on all of my 6 inch figures? Keep up the good work michael...
Great job, Michael! I’m off to order some Action Force figures… I hope Bobby give you a cut of my order… you put me over the line! Bobby seems like a great guy that’s passionate, dedicated to excellence and very business savvy.
Michael, have you seen the Eagle Force figures at BBTS? Some of the figures are clearly homages to Action Force. Do you have an opinion on them? I am very curious about what you think about them and I'm hoping you talk about them at some point if you haven't already. Thanks.
You're totally right, Michael. The 80s were just an explosion of creativity, and that's virtually gone these days. Very little to get excited about with new ideas. Bobby's got a good thing going here. I can't wait to get my Analog Toys Trooper (I mean, Desert Rat)!
G.I. Joe vs Cobra was just a reworking of Larry Hama's idea for a Marvel Comic "Fury Force", where a military force (including a masked man and a redhead) fought the snake themed HYDRA. The initial 3 3/4 Joe figures weren't even going to have villains.
The last time I remember originality in the toy world was when my sister was a kid in the mid-90s. She had Starla & the Jewel Riders toys, Dragonflyz, Conan the Adventurer etc
I like action force, but let’s be real here. This is a line of action figures that blatantly rip off Classified. It’s like they got that 00 deluxe exclusive snake eyes from early 2020 and grew an imagination around that format.
Great insights!!! This is my favorite toy line now. What I love about Valaverse/Action Force is that they aren’t afraid to embrace the realistic military aesthetics. Gradually getting more of the figures and gear packs. Just that alone makes it a line I’ll stick with for the long haul.
Mythic Legions is doing all this and has a video game coming out. I like what Valaverse is doing too, Fromo Toys is getting there if Mattel doesn't fuck them over
Bobby seems to understand what made GI Joe great, which is something Hasbro has forgotten. Exciting characters, Accessory packs, create "offical" character back grounds, mythology, easy to kit bash, and more. It isn't so much as a new script but going back to the original script and adding flourishes.
When Hasbro puts up a guy, their lead designer on the brand, who refers to the paratrooper wings on Lady Jaye's hat as "some pilot logo," you know exactly how little they give a crap about military accuracy or the IP they are essentially stewards of.
I died a little inside when he said "knife holster". And the marketing person they have on those streams. She reminds me of an aunt who has a nephew that wants a power Ranger for his birthday and she buys a "Ninja Warrior" from the Dollar store.
Exactly right! The reason I'm so excited about this line is because they are producing quality figures and they're an independent company. Not a big company that cares less what we want. Really looking forward to seeing what comes out of valaverse in the future.
Great great video!!! 100% agreed. We need new fresh characters and story telling!! And Valaverse gets that! Hoping they continue their success for years to come!
20 minutes of rambling to basically say " hey everyone support this company they're doing innovative great things at reasonable prices". we get it, do you honestly believe that this concept of supporting companies that give Hasbro a run for their money is yours and yours alone?
The overriding point of this line is that it hasn't relied on TV series and the like to launch it, that will come later and is, in all ways a massive gamble that is paying off in spades. It is also not a range designed by committee, and shows strength thru strong leadership and real experience in this business itself. But overall it is the quality that appeals to its fans--- and that is its greatest asset!!! CARPE DIEM!!!
Some good points raised Michael. As someone outside of North America Hasbro Pulse or some other sites from the big companies which have the intriguing items I have to go through loop holes to get as they do not deliver to my part of the world. My understanding from Tony answering a question on one of his live streams is that Valaverse would of delivered to our part of the world but it's not currently financially possible for a small company due to the world situation. I can accept that as its something out of Bobby Vala's control whereas a large corporation just won't do it. Tony also pointed out a company locally that would stock them in our part of the world. So even though the situation was difficult for a small company they still found a solution.
I agree 100%. While the price tag is a little more than I would like to spend, you get more in that price tag in detail, accessories, weapons, etc. I can't wait to see what Valaverse does next.
You're right. We do need original concepts and ideas made into toys.New ideas create new lores for kids of this generation to connect with and have as their own stories. And the competition from a new business like Valaverse makes toy companies like Hasbro and Mattel step up their game. There are so many new properties out there (especially in the indie comic market) that could easily be merchandised to a new audience, but the big to companies play it safe going for the easy collector money instead of taking a risk on a new audience. New characters and new stories can get kids away from the video game consoles and get them back into the toy aisle. I have to admit toy collecting has really gotten stale. Over the last 30 years I've been collecting I've had Six Wolverines, Three Snake Eyes, Three Voltron Deluxes Two Optimus Primes and a kajillion Batmans. I'm eager to see some new characters hit the shelves.
I like the idea of Valaverse and how they are doing Action Force. I got Steel Brigade and Sgt. slaughter. I want to get the Swarm or Hive Trooper, but had limited funds. Still paying off student loans for a college that permanently closed. I wish the weapons were a bit softer plastic, I feel like I would break them.
I like the line. It’s moved into my have to order from each wave going forward. Great original characters, sculpt and paint. But like many have said going forward improvements have to be made. From the sounds of it Bobby has heard it and looks to correct a few issues.
They look good but just not intrested in them. What I am curious about is if Bobby doesn't want this line to be associated with gi Joe or Action force International heroes or to have it seen as a reboot (even a slight 1) why include Sgt Slaughter.?....including a character (even just 1) from a line that Bobby says he doesn't want his line associated with is the VERY thing the will make some people think it's a gi Joe/ a.f.i.h. reboot...... Just an observation.
Umm, I don't know if you've watched television for the last 40 years or so, but Sgt. Slaughter is fairly popular OUTSIDE of GI Joe and the entire reason Hasbro brought him into that line in the '80s was to BRING his popularity as a pro wrestler INTO the line. Which is the same thing Bobby's doing here. Your comment is the equivalent of "if you don't want to be like G.I. Joe, why have William "The Refrigerator" Perry?" Celebrity likenesses always have built-in audiences before they become action figures. Same reason Valaverse is using Tim Kennedy (or its version of him).
@@jeffreyyoders6366 yes I'm well aware he's a real person (wwf wrestler) but it is YOU who doesn't get the piont... If you don't want your product associated with a rival companies product (in this case 2 military toy lines) then why use a character that your rival had in their line before you did.
@@timothyward8695 I realise that but my piont is "my product line is not gi Joe nor is it action force International heroes and I don't want it associated with either of those lines in any way... So I'm going to include a figure of a very popular character from those 2 rival lines in mine and my version of the character will be exactly the same chracter"..... You can't include a gi Joe /a.f.i.h character in your line and state you don't want it associated with the above named rivals. Either its associated with it or its not.
@@Kickback-dm7zt It's really YOU who doesn't get the "piont." He was popular before he ever was in GI Joe. Same reason Bobby's using his version of Tim Kennedy, too (as I already said once), it's to bring an audience that may not even know about Valaverse to it. Robert Remus (the person you know as Sgt. Slaughter) hasn't had anything to do with Hasbro or the GI Joe IP for 30 years. Even when Hasbro's licensee, Fun Publications, did a Slaughter's Marauders set in 2018 they replaced him in the set with a new character because they didn't even want to try to do a deal with him. Mattel has made Sgt. Slaughter figures more recently than Hasbro. You just don't get it, bro. He was a free agent then and he's a free agent now. Signing with Action Force was a good move. It brings Valaverse his fans and introduces him to a whole new audience.
@@Kickback-dm7zt Because no one really associated him with GI Joe anymore. As I said before. There has not been a Hasbro GI Joe Sgt. Slaughter figure since the '80s. Including when Hasbro's licensee, Fun Publications, did a Slaughter's Marauders set in 2018. Can't get much more proof than that.
Hello out there. I need guidance. My estranged son has decided to come back into my life. We have lately been building a post apocalyptic city for my old GI Joe men. I’m desperate to find vehicles and accessories I am not a collector so much as a dad who enjoys playing with gi joe men with his 10 year old son. So I don’t care about who makes it or if it’s used without all the pieces. Please advise me where to buy vehicles play sets we will probably be repainting them anyway. I need a tank and a fighter jet
They look very good, and I agree, the new characters and stories are a great idea. The figures have a lot of character. They could write a lot of stories about rank-and-file soldiers being betrayed by top-level political appointees in the military structure (a theme that is both timeless and relevant right now).
I have absolutely zero interest in this line because they seem like a GI Joe KO. But I agree that we need companies to invest and try new IPs rather than always going back to the well because that well is just about dry.
@World. Per Bobby, the live action movie starts filming at the end of this year. Nothing concrete on an animated series yet but Bobby has stated he would love to do an animated series. He’s got the comic going on, he’s working on the movie and also actively developing future waves of figures, Series 2 and 3 of which are shipping this year so I think it’s just a case of he only has so much time in the day right now. However, you can’t say the guy isn’t working, dude must be damn near killing himself trying to juggle all of this stuff so mad respect to him for all of the effort he’s bringing to Action Force.
I'm all in favor of this line and respect Bobby Vala's efforts getting this truly stunning line up and running. With that said, the QC issues are real. The vest connections are flawed (looking forward to the revision), the figure plastic is too rigid, and the weapons are too brittle. I trust Bobby is addressing this for the additional waves, but I'm going to hold back buying further releases until the issues are resolved.
I haven’t read all the comments admittedly, but has anyone other than RUclips reviewers gotten an action figure in hand yet? I apparently made the mistake of buying wave 1 via BBTS and have no idea when or if they will get at my door. Feels a bit ( sorry to say) like a lot of celebrities sucking rarified air as they get sent stuff early for reviews. I say this a normal guy who’s a fan of Retroblasting, Fwoosh, and others...seeing peeps review WHOLE WAVES while we watch our doorsteps waiting for deliveries! Love the channel but want the toys too! 🤘
So if you order future waves, order directly from Valaverse. Bobby has said that people who order directly from Valaverse will always get their products before people who order from other sellers.
@@martinj8203 So I can say that yes, I am a youtuber, guilty as charged, LOL! But I am no celebrity, not a large channel, just a regular guy that loves action figures. I have reviewed most of Wave 1. Three of them I got because I put in on the kickstarter/crowdox. Then the rest I quite simply ordered from Valaverse when he announced his in stock sale after he filled all the crowd funded orders. Unfortunately, much of his stock is sold out right now, but it was possible for us mere mortals to get some in hand!
Most 6 inch figures have priced themselves beyond my willingness to buy them but I’ll admit these are tempting. I’m more of a superhero guy though but perhaps they will team up with some of the other guys creating Independant superhero comics and branch out into some other genres. I’m keeping an eye on these guys for sure.
It’s always good to support the little guy and help them get big. Especially if they offer more than the big name brands. Shows you Hasbro can give more bang for the buck, but they won’t to make a big profit. Watch out Hasbro, Valaverse is coming in strong. Hasbro is going down especially if Valaverse offers affordable vehicles.
The best thing of this line is a Sgt slaughter is in the first wave and they all look like the have a little bit of creativity in designs but also look real.
As I watch this I’m reminded that Hasbro announced a third 6 inch Gung -Ho variant. A third. In just over a year. Great video Michael. I’ll be purchasing.
My only problem with Valaverse - I was late to the party. I wasn't yet prepped to dive in on a small unproven company, until I saw the releases. So I missed out on a few figures, but the ones I have are amazing. Now it's a matter of "catch-up". But still a fun ride!
I look forward to the day where Hasbro goes to Bobby and offers to buy his company and he laughs and says, "Oh, HELL no."
what about the breakage issues?? and the heating instructions really??
4h are actually the first to do this I think..mythic legions are my main line I collect and what the 4h have done is remarkable and paved the way for what Bobby is doing..know also im all in on AF..im.loving action force and just got my wasp raider in yesterday and waiting on bbts to get all my second and third figures for customs..right now 4h legions and Bobby's AF are my main lines and im loving them all..but def gotta give the credit to 4h..love the vid..and can't wait to see what all Bobby comes up with..ill be getting it all
I like the Snake Mountaineers. Sounds like a shifty group of rock climbers.
Maybe they could open for Evil-Lyn and the Beastmen. 🙂
I love action force. Truly makes me feel like a kid getting Joes again. Can’t wait for the future of this line
Sure this isn’t news but Acid Rain World is a line of 1:18 scale figures with a rich backstory that is really well done
They've been putting out some great stuff, they we're clearly ripping off Titanfall in the beginning though, no idea if they any lore behind it though.
I'm not familiar with this line but also think Mythic Legions from Four Horsemen are doing some great things.
👍🏻
If I were to collect a toyline that ISN'T Gunpla, it would be Nu Action Force. These toys look incredible!
Bobby, at the booth, said “he’s hooked you!” And speaking of that personal type of interaction…
I work for a smaller company and the relationship building that Bobby has done is very similar to what we do for our services and wouldn’t you know, customers respond well to it.
You may have heard of that Chinese 1/18 toy company Joy Toy. Their Warhammer figures are pretty cool right now. Being formerly from England I think you might be interested. I want to hear your opinion on it.
Oh? I play the tabletop game and have some of the Mcfarlane figures but Joy Toy?
That is what makes things exciting!
i will forever be know as snakemountaineer!
In Toy Galaxy vids they say: "Hasbro: until all are one". And yeah, they seem like Nids, consuming everything.
Just like Disney
@@VorpalDerringer They crave properties and IP's like The nids crave Biomass
I love how objective and factual your videos are.
This exactly
Have you ever seen a NECA figure? They break if you look at them the wrong way...and they're still going strong 20 years in
@@k-dawgbroadcasting5444 lol the big issue will be if Valaverse improves.
Action Force us basically THE CORPS to G.I.Joe
Only ordered a few, because the design looks good that's all.
Heard of the the name prior, but know knew nothing.... these new sets, just good specs, good colors... so if they keep it up... folks will buy it
This is me slow clapping with a crescendo of force and speed.
WELL done, sir.
Alright! Fine! I just pre-ordered Sgt. Slaughter. I've watched a few of the Valaverse RUclips videos and they seem like great guys. Real military guys. They've sold me. You've sold me. I'm buying.
Such an amazing new toy line that has clearly been created with passion. Cannot wait to get my Desert Rat.
Respect your points, especially innovation. Very nicely done.
Valaverse has knocked it out of the park with these figures.
Great job, Michael!
I’m off to order some Action Force figures… I hope Bobby give you a cut of my order… you put me over the line!
Bobby seems like a great guy that’s passionate, dedicated to excellence and very business savvy.
Michael gets no money from any toy-line or maker he reviews. He is unbiased and owned by no one.
Fantastic in-depth video Michael!!! Some great interesting takes ..
I can't wait to get my Analog Toys Trooper (I mean, Desert Rat)!
and it did not stop at toys. There was an incredible range in music, fashion, movies and other art as well.
Appreciate you. Thanks for these. And happy to see new IPs, new ideas and new creators being championed.
G.I. Joe vs Cobra was just a reworking of Larry Hama's idea for a Marvel Comic "Fury Force", where a military force (including a masked man and a redhead) fought the snake themed HYDRA. The initial 3 3/4 Joe figures weren't even going to have villains.
Kristy McNicol had her own toy ! I never knew that.
The last time I remember originality in the toy world was when my sister was a kid in the mid-90s. She had Starla & the Jewel Riders toys, Dragonflyz, Conan the Adventurer etc
Really good video Michael.
I like what Valaverse is doing too, Fromo Toys is getting there if Mattel doesn't fuck them over
I have no love for the line itself, but I like what it conceptually represents for the industry.
I pre-ordered Sgt slaughter to use him with my gi joe classifieds but bbts sent an email that it's stuck in the container yard in California
Military-themed action figures don't really fit into my collecting interests, but I'd certainly be up for figures based around a Space Force idea.
Check out Hell Screamerz
This video was proudly brought to you by Valaverse..
@Dan Badd You clearly know nothing about how RetroBlasting has run its channel for the past decade. Michael purchases his toys.
Yeah, this 100% isn't PixelSendMeFreeStuff
What's your take on the dollar tree "final faction" line?
ruclips.net/video/uoXQQ8ajcF8/видео.html
I pee in a cat box,...I feel personally attacked.
They look great. I will pick some up at some point. I really want to check them out.
"The Snake Mountaineers" will be the name of my Zydeco band.
"Nose Deaf in a House of Cat Pee" will be my Oscar/Grammy reaction channel.
I would have chosen a different name if it's totally new characters. Now if he secured the name and the legacy characters, I'd understand.
Nice to see military toy lines make a comeback
Great video... and great analysis as usual!
20 minutes of rambling to basically say " hey everyone support this company they're doing innovative great things at reasonable prices". we get it, do you honestly believe that this concept of supporting companies that give Hasbro a run for their money is yours and yours alone?
Fantastic video, looking forward to getting my set of series 1.
UGH, still waiting for mine from BBTS. Can't wait to have these in hand.
If BBTS knows where their shipment is, they're not saying. And they don't seem to be in any hurry whatsoever to secure it.
@@BobbyLCollins It's maddening.
This is a fricken’ brilliant idea especially the part about the weapons packs. I’m very curious what they’re going to do for vehicles
Spot on Greg, I couldn't have put it better myself!
I hope we get to see a starcom review at some point. Always loved retroblastings toy/cartoon reviews
Thanks for making this video Michael, this answered a lot of questions I had about the new Action Force line, personally I want this line to succeed.
Shampoo bottle scale figures... Valaverse "head and shoulders" above the rest... this video is definitely bouncin' and behavin'.
How did valverse get the rights to sgt. Slaughter though?

@@retroblasting thanks for the link.
I have absolutely zero interest in this line because they seem like a GI Joe KO. But I agree that we need companies to invest and try new IPs rather than always going back to the well because that well is just about dry.
Michael do you know if Action Force will be an animated series or movie?
There is a live action movie in the works. Where it is in production, I don’t know.
About to leap into Valaverse with wave 3. I really like the look of this line & think the figs are 100% compatible with other 6 inch lines.
I'm stuck in the 80s still
Sgt slaughter I'm in💯💯💯
Excellent points Michael. The figures look really good.
Awesome! Trying that today cuz I NEED Desert Rat! I really look forward to getting these in hand
