Feeling a little unwell with Covid. Lying down with the sun on my face listening to a mix of Robbie Basho through my Bluetooth hearing aids. I was suddenly elevated to another space and my soul has now been fed. In my semi conscious state I don’t think I have had music enter me so powerfully on a whole before .Just blew me away

I started listening to Blue Crystal Fire, which led to Night way then Moving up a ways. Finishing on this Wounded Knee. If you want to feel transformed immense yourself in these songs. Probably the best I’ve ever heard.

Just watched the documentary about him. I stumbled on Basho some years ago, heard I think five or six albums in total. But he had over a dozen?! Like fourteen or some other prolific number. Some people say it's a shame he died so young. Well, he composed more than a lifetime's worth of music, so it's not like he wasted any time in that regard. What is sad, however, were his infrequent expressions of severe loneliness he would occasionally share with some of his students. I think we all can say his music would have soared to new heights had he found the woman of his dreams. I think it goes to show that while art is certainly an important part of life, it isn't the end all. (I should really take my own advice here.)
The world did not deprive him of any love. He deprived himself. I say this with absolute respect and adoration, of course. The man has affected me in such a way no other artist of any medium ever has before. It just breaks my heart is all.
