That's one thing I've noticed owning my 05 Titan is that there are plenty of issues with these trucks, but they are remarkably simple to work on. Keep up the good work!!!

Just happened to my 08 Titan yesterday. This video saved me time, all buttoned up and fixed. Easy. Same issue with the plastic clamp letting go. Seems like a good idea engineered in, to prevent larger problems. Thanks!!
Soooo, embarrassment aside, I backed my Titan into my elevated boat trailer tongue (we live on a slope). The tongue smashed out the tailgate lock and caused a bit more damage. Didn't look too serious (though I was cranky) but when I tried to drop the tailgate I couldn't. And to make things worse, the tonneau cover was closed and locked and I had a bucket of prawns back there. Anyway, just wanted to say your video really helped, so thanks.
THANK YOU !!! Your instructions worked beautifully I too was lucky and just had to slip the rod back in the yellow holder. I may order one, just to have on hand if it slips out again, or JB weld it in :-)
One difference on mine was the tailgate protector on mine had a double sided tape across the entire tailgate about 10 inches down from the top. I couldn't get it to separate so I had to take a heat gun and work it over the entire cover to get the plastic protector to separate from the tailgate. Just an FYI for anyone who does this. Thanks for the aid. Just did to my tailgate over weekend
Last time i locked mine idk what happened now it feels like its not unlocking key will turn easy both ways and handle does nothing when trying too open

It is under the intake manifold. About a 12 hour job.

Usually the clip will let go again soon. I put 2 zippy ties over each yellow clip to prevent that.

How did you open it so you fixed it prior to open and demonstrate?
I showed on the video how to open it. You reach your hand in there and pull the bar
