Watching the (light) in the man's eyes go out and glaze over as the music artist sings, "I am your light, your light, your liiiiight." Then the symbol of him wearing his wedding ring. Rewatching this after seeing John Wick 4 a few weeks ago. I think this scene is my favorite in the entire series. I have so much respect for Keanu and all the work he puts in to John Wick.

I just noticed, how the lyrics perfectly matches the story of john wick 1. As if his dead wife is singing "think of me" while he goes on his klling spree for her. "You are always in the dark, i am your light", cause she got him out of the organization but now hes back "in the dark". Great choice of music.

This is one of those "perfect" scenes... Everything from the choreography, the music, the colours (cold blues and violent reds) was absolutely spot on... I really love how simple but effective the camera panning was at the 45 second - one minute mark
This is the scene that laid the foundation for the franchise. This scene and the music and John on a mission. 0:56 I think this scene ( according to the song ) means that people are in the dark and death brings them in light, like they understand everything in hereafter and the true meaning of life when they're dying.
the clubs name is the red circle and ironically In some cultures the red circle symbolises a ring which enemy's come inside to fight till death.. like a boxing ring. that's either on purpose by producers or coincidence?
The song lyrics painful referenced John's previous and current situation: "Go ahead, you've taken me down now." Of all the foes John Wick fought, none of them ever took him down except for Helen. His love for her ruined his devotion to being a hired killer and took him away from that world. "Give me, give me, give me, give me what you don't know." John is unused to love, but he's willing to give Helen something he doesn't know for her sake. "Go ahead, take me all out now." Of all the enemies John fought, love was the only one he ever submitted to, and one that he submitted to willingly. "Get this, get this into your game." John's "game" is about having mastery over death, but now that he's in love with Helen, he must learn the game of life and enjoying it with her. "You got me in a heading drop." The elation John felt when he was in love with Helen was overwhelming, especially in light of how grim the criminal underworld is. "I never wanna come off." John never wanted to leave the peaceful life that Helen provided him, saving him from the grim life he led as a killer. "You got me with your beat of love." Helen's love enraptured John and gave him the idea that maybe he could be a good person for once. "I never wanna come out." Why would John ever want to go back in the darkness after seeing the light? "Think of me." Obviously, Helen is the most important person in John's life, so, of course, he'd be thinking about her. "I'll never break your heart." is an ironic statement since Helen did break John's heart with the circumstances of her death. However, the fact that John now has a heart that can be broken shows that the love Helen instilled in him was very real. "You're always in the dark." Two implications here: A) John never told Helen about his blood-soaked past, and thus she was in the dark about who he really was. B) John's soul is always in the dark, because of the life that he's led, and even if he tries to ignore it he will always be a killer until the day he dies. "I am your light, your light, your light" Helen was the source of light that redeemed John's soul and allowed him to turn away from his violent past. "You're never in the dark." John is never in the dark so long as the memory of Helen's love lives on inside him. However, this is an ironic statement since John is still very much in the dark, since he's going back to his vengeful, violent lifestyle in honor of Helen's memory. "Now that I'm, making this all up..." John is reflecting on the fact that with Helen absent from his life, he's making this all up as he goes along and really has no clue what he's going to do with himself long term. Is John back in the game? He still doesn't have an answer. "Let me, let me, let me, let me into your know." John is looking to Helen's memory for guidance, hoping that she will remind him of how to lead the loving, peaceful life that she showed him now that she isn't there to give him directions. He really has nothing left of her. "You got me in your open hand." With Helen gone, he's no longer the stoic, invincible hitman he used to be and he's an emotionally vulnerable mess. He's henceforth stuck in the open hand of his enemies until he can regain the focus he used to have. "I never wanna come back." John lamenting on the sad state of affairs that the game he left behind is pulling him back in, despite his best efforts to avoid this fate. "How do we let you never found?" John is remorseful over the fact that he's letting go of a peaceful lifestyle that he arguably never found in the first place, and perhaps Helen only gave him the illusion that he could be a good person. "You know it's gonna come out." With all these emotions bubbling under the surface, regardless of how much John fights it… his old killer nature is going to come back out, and it's going to be messy when it does.
I've heard people criticize John Wick as an action movie, but I think you have to think about it more artistically, it's a very aesthetic movie/series of movies, there is a lot of work put into making it a pleasing movie to watch and it's very detail oriented. No you're not going to find the drama you will in other movies but I seriously doubt that's by accident. Aesthetically I think it's one of the best action movies and certainly one of the best series ever made and this scene is testament to that. The colors, the music, the way the scene progresses, its all beautifully done

This song has been stuck in my head for daaayyysss
The use of the lighting in this scene is just beautiful
Really wish they should've continued using songs like then on the sequels, this scene alone made john wick as a badass for me.
Category: Education
It teaches us how to be hitmen.
Because it's Tutorial about how to kill mofos
Pencils.
Education about to not piss off John Wick
Cause it is
The second guy he kills, stares into his eyes the whole time...straight gangster.
"Gangster"? Pff.
Try "Grim Reaper"
That's what i noticed, Super amazing scene .
He stares into the man’s eyes to confirm he’s dead. Once the man’s pupils dilate, it signifies he’s dead.
@@7ofredspades12 nope....this is an Omo scene ..no doubt
@@7ofredspades12 Still, its fucking bad ass
0:32 when you watch your brother at 3:00 am opening the fridge to eat the last pizza.
Extremely underrated comment
😂😂😂
I’m bringing out the pencil.
🤣🤣🤣
You don’t know how much that made me laugh
The music is SO GOOD!!
When John is in blue light, he’s wining & killing.
When John is in red light, he’s struggling/losing.
holy shit good attention to detail, and its amazing how they added that detail nonetheless, amazing idea.
00:42 is the best moment like so artistic
Fr
Yes!
1:45 👌
Oh I love that !!
3:33
John Wick had such a nice choice of music!
the way a beautiful song goes with a horrifying violence action scene is beyond thoughts....this is what we call, 'Great Movie Making'.....and i think this song is meant for this movie.....a strange connection between the music and movie..wowwwww...the way john wick looks into his eyes....damn.......simply amazing...great acting, light effects, direction...overall a great movie making...
I can’t stop watching this, there’s something about the music, John wick and the whole set up of the scene which is done to perfection
With the song being so soft and the scene starting slow is like a hunter coming for his prey
Love the way he stares at him in the eyes at 1:04 as the guy dies, music fits perfectly at that point as well
that kill is intense the look of Keanu Reeves is badass
I like how his face goes from blue to red as he kills him because of the lighting. Great touch if it was intentional.
That's what you call a confirmed kill lol
Nick Usher i wish he murdered that kid like that
Nick Usher he just immerses himself deeper into the character that is Baba Yaga
They should make a prequel to John Wick.. Like how he grew his reputation before he settled down
Heard talk of a TV show? May or may not be true, but still a nice idea
They made a comic book about John Wick in which they show events before the movie.
Muhammad Usama Paracha it was kinda lames and turned into a superhero comic.
For example when he was a kid, some dude he was watching fired a rocket at him.
We can dream......we can dream......
That would be clean
The actual terror starts at 0:44 and then boosts up at 1:45
Awesome synchronisation!
Greatest edit/scene in action movie history
Absolutely hands down my favorite scene in the series.
"I am your light, your light, your LIE-E-I-E-IGHT!"
Lol when I first heard it I thought she was saying I am your love your love your Lo-o-o-ve.
+drcheekyisback It's "I hate your love, your love" right?
ok ive found 3 different versions of these lyrics...what the hell
listening to it again, I believe you are correct
drcheekyisback I swear I heard that to xD
the intensity of his eyes is such an incredible turn on
Urgghh yesh totally
Shit I guess I'm not the only one
Eyes are beautiful, they really are
Keanu Reeves is a turn on! Damn those seductive and beautiful eyes!! Omg yesss!!! 😍😍😍
Have you ever rubbed one in whilst watching this?
@@jackincorporated8480 hahah asking the right questions
This has to be if not my favorite scene from this movie, its definitely up there as one of them. This is how you make an action scene that has very little dialogue. The music is absolutely perfect. And the lighting is amazing.
Such a good song choice for this scene. Fits so perfectly, well done sound guy!
1:01 John wick starring straight into that guys soul while the song says “I am your light “ just gives me chills every fucking time :)
This scene and song NEVER get old and now I'm waiting for John Wick 3

Yo did you like JW3? I assume you already watched it.

John wick 4 now
@@laughyg4571 John wick 4 was going to be May 21St 2021 it's now been moved to 27th May 2022.
The song goes "I am your light" as he looks at the dying man straight in the eyes. The angel of death.
Love the way he reloads
These scene is so fucking ICONIC ! The nostalgia is gives me is ridiculous ...
Good lord this is the best mix up.
idk y that part where he stabs the guy and covers his mouth while he stares into his eyes watchin his life fade away is fukin intense..i watch that part over and over
So do i. Glad i'm not the only one
Yeah, I thought I was obsessed
Brandon Anders my girlfriend thought I was insane when I said the same thing at least someone else agreed haha
lol yea hands down top 3 favorite scene
Brandon Anders
Symbolic that those who sin will die a terrible death with sweet sounding music in the background LOL
Whoever was in charge of all the music for this movie should be applauded. Even the scene where he's driving his car to the Continental & Marilyn Manson's "killing strangers" is playing. John closes the car door & trunk to the beat of the song. It's simply satisfying. ♥️
one of my favorite scenes in this movie...the brain that blended this music with this scene is on point!
Kaleida and Wick are made for each other. Moody but slick. Great editing too
I’m obsessed with this scene ❤️
Go ahead, you've taken me down now.
Give me, give me, give me, give me what you don't know
Go ahead, take me all out now
Get this, get this into your game
You got me in a heading drop
I never wanna come off
You got me with your beat of love
I never wanna come out
Think of me, I'll never break your heart
Think of me, you're always in the dark
I am your light, your light, your light
Think of me, you're never in the dark
Now that I'm making this all up
Let me, let me, let me, let me into your know
You got me in your open hand
I never wanna come back
How do we let you never found?
You know it's gonna come out
Think of me, I'll never break your heart
Think of me, you're always in the dark
I am your light, your light, your light
Think of…
Oxygen needs John Wick to survive.
Copied
Honestly Keanu is a scary ass person. Think of all the greatest moments in action history. He created them. He’s like on par with Jackie Chan but in a different way. Incredible
He's just the kind of man that rather talk with his actions than his words.
This is one of the greatest scenes in cinematic history
1:00 He’s watching for his eye’s to dilate to show that the person is dead. The attention to detail.
He's also savoring the kill
This fucking actor is a BEAST
*****
No way.. Swear ?
fuck yeah!
That's putting it mildly
+TIRION FORDRING I was gonna say that...
why 'fucking' ,he's a good man
Just started watching John wick and I love the trilogy. Can’t wait for JW4
Hell yes! Love the sound boost! Guard taking blade to the neck/stare down best part of the whole movie!!!
this never gets old :D
STILL. A. MASTERPIECE.
this entire scene is nothing sort of a master piece The way the lighting changes on john's face.
The calmness of the song with utter violence of the scene.
Everything is just sort of perfect in its sence.
This is soundtrack. Beautiful!! Amazing!!!
0:59 - 1:06 i legit questioned my heterosexuality in those seconds
Same here
Ahahhah same here dude especially in those scenes where his hair moves like that
O fuck Im woman and I am wet when I think like John push me and look at me like that...aaaaawwww
It was beautiful like art, not sexual like a naked woman 😂
Turned this movie on just for something to fall asleep to/never seen it before, wasn't even watching at the time but the song had my attention, then combined with the scene I was captivated/mesmerized. Searched for it and found it. Pumped to watch the rest of the movies now.
One of the best club shoots in a long time
This scene is weirdly satisfying to watch like Istg I've watched it at least 10 times but it feels new everytime I rewatch it.weIRD
Same. I've been re-watching at least once every day.
0:56 that part is so nice loved how the song just spiced up when John started looking at him
And he had his wedding ring!!
This scene right here is one of the greatest action scenes in movie history.
John Wick is a bad man.
👀😮👊💥
it seems you didnt see a lot of films ..Even without thinking a lot i can tell you there is way more better ... ruclips.net/video/mgYINdpBaPw/видео.html , just this is way more effective .ruclips.net/video/wfNU6JfDN_c/видео.html or this ... ruclips.net/video/glOnDceqqJc/видео.html
0:56 I think this scene ( according to the song ) means that people are in the dark and death brings them in light, like they understand everything in hereafter and the true meaning of life when they're dying.
Let’s take a moment to thank Losef, without him we wouldn’t have this amazing series of events that is the return of John Wick.
The editing is so good in this. I love how it matches to the song.
the clubs name is the red circle and ironically In some cultures the red circle symbolises a ring which enemy's come inside to fight till death.. like a boxing ring. that's either on purpose by producers or coincidence?
i think it was made on purpose
there's a lot of symbolisms in the film that was written by chad and david...
Wow
Wow
Damn even the comments section has so much admiration for the scene, reading the comments itself giving me goosebumps !!
I’m so addicted to this whole scene. So badass bro especially 0:53
This scene is majestic.
The song lyrics painful referenced John's previous and current situation:
"Go ahead, you've taken me down now." Of all the foes John Wick fought, none of them ever took him down except for Helen.
"You know it's gonna come out." With all these emotions bubbling under the surface, regardless of how much John fights it… his old killer nature is going to come back out, and it's going to be messy when it does.
the reload is a special moment
What an edit ! What a choreography! Just Awesome sync of music and scenes. Love it
5 years later I keep coming back to watch this masterpiece
I've heard people criticize John Wick as an action movie, but I think you have to think about it more artistically, it's a very aesthetic movie/series of movies, there is a lot of work put into making it a pleasing movie to watch and it's very detail oriented. No you're not going to find the drama you will in other movies but I seriously doubt that's by accident. Aesthetically I think it's one of the best action movies and certainly one of the best series ever made and this scene is testament to that. The colors, the music, the way the scene progresses, its all beautifully done
