    This song has the most profound lyrics I've heard.
    "And in my darkest moments, fetal and weeping. The moon tells me a secret, my confidant. "As full and brought as I am, this light is not my own and a million light reflections pass over me." The source is bright and endless, she resuscitates the hopeless. Without her we are lifeless satellites drifting." It just moves me man. Every damn time.

    • @openmusic3904
      @openmusic3904 4 года назад +1

      I agree wholeheartedly, it is a beautiful little piece. Out of the three, it is probably my favourite, even though it's not very long. There is something very rapturous about it, and uplifting, even though it appears relatively understated. My only criticism would be, that Reflection and Triad don't seem to be particularly related musically to Disposition. It had me feeling a little let down when I first heard the three, not because Reflection or Triad are bad songs, but because they are such a departure from the atmosphere and development Disposition laid the groundwork for.

      That's awesome. I saw Tool when I was 13 or 14 with my Dad on the Lateralus tour. They came to my home town a couple of hours south of Sydney, Australia and haven't been back since, we don't often get rock bands that big here it was kind of strange. It was my first proper rock gig and absolutly blew my mind along with the album when it came out. I feel so lucky I got to experience that gig.

    When I was 17 I hadn't done mushrooms before and didn't know the proper dose, so I took 10 grams and pressed play on a CD that had this trio on it. I left this world about an hour later and found myself following Maynard through an endless blue portal that was intricate and covered in moving hieroglyphics for most of that night. He kept whispering for me to follow and I struggled to keep up. I never made it to the end of that shimmering blue portal but for years afterwards I certainly felt like I'd been transported to another dimension entirely. Hey, Dean! I don't usually comment on your Part 1 videos, but I have so much to say about this particular reaction video duo. First of all, may I just say sir, that you mouthing the words "I love that" after Maynard's moon secret line in Reflection was sexy as hell. ☺️ Ahem.
    Moving on: Your comment about Tool's vocals often being recorded "naked", sounding humble and honest really nails the power of Maynard's emotional range in singing. To me, his vocal work as a whole (A Perfect Circle and Puscifer included) illustrates what it truly means to be a man. At times bold and strong, at times full of rage, yet at times also vulnerable, unsure, and in pain. He encapsulates the entire range from abused child to flippant teen, to horny man, to leader, artist, father, preacher, comedian, addict, teacher, farmer, warrior, lover, disgruntled asshole, friend, lost soul, and philosopher. He creates a mood and unlocks emotions you sometimes didn't even know you had. The raw, unashamed vulnerability he can portray is humbling. And yet he can also do sarcastic asshattery and bench-press-1,000 rage screams. One recent tune that shows some of that versatility is "The Doomed" by A Perfect Circle. I highly recommend it. 😉

The best thing to ever happen to me was the Lateralus album which changed my life forever. It introduced me to Sacred Geometry as well as other discoveries as I go off into a meditated state (I'm drug free) while listening and if I had to choose one song that changed my life the most if would be Reflection.... without that song I might not still be here now typing this. The Holy Trinity is amazing especially live. I wish one day that Tool would release live video but until then we are stuck with what we have. Hey, like your videos from a fellow Canadian perspective. I like the insights you provide as well as the appreciation you've been showing for Tool's music. Just a small (almost pedantic) nitpick - it's not "east Indian percussion", it's just "Indian percussion" (i.e. a Tabla). The term "East-Indian" is very outdated, unless you literally mean from the eastern part of India, but the concept of tabla playing is from north India.

    Hi man, its great to see you react to new prog music, I never get into tool music, for me is flat and boring... please do more reaction of some other bands like dream theater, symphony x, transatlantic, opeth. Greetings.
