TOP (rabbit mask) was rapping in clubs as a late teen and was overweight so he was told to lose weight before he can join as a trainee. he said he didn't know how they could be an idol group when they don't sound and look the same. They can't even move the same - their group choreos are so much simpler than others because TOP is usually asynchronous with the others lol. Anyway. New sb19 fan here and an old BigBang fan. Bigbang sound sooo good live - my favorites off the top of my head are Haru Haru, Cafe, zutter (live versions). With subtitles if available.

I think what's most melancholic about this whole song, mood, vibe, aesthetic is that it marked an end of an era for the group. They haven't officially disbanded but they're all doing their own thing, and especially after one of them got arrested for soliciting prostitution amongst other charges. TOP has also hinted a couple of times here and there about potentially not returning to the music scene. I think GD and Taeyang will always be around as solo artists, and I'd hope that's the case for Daesung. We're also unsure if they'll ever return with music again as a group. And they're not quite kids. I believe the average age in the group is around 35. They really turned the tables for k-pop and paved the way for other Korean pop artists. I'm sad.

"Still Life" is BigBang' newest song that was just released in April, their first comeback in almost 4 years. The first time they came back as a group since being discharged from the military and going through several major life changing events. It's a new chapter in all of their lives. Taeyang got married right before he enlisted and his wife and him just had a baby boy in December, so the group dynamic is changing and evolving just like the ever changing seasons. In the MV each of the members represent a different season. I see "Still Life" as a continuation of the theme within their previous comeback "Flower Road" from 2018, which was a final farewell before they took a long hiatus to allow the members to all serve in the military. It was released after T.O.P had already enlisted and right before G-Dragon and Daesung enlisted. Although we are excited that they finally made a comeback, if you pay attention to the lyrics in "Still Life" it's almost as if this is actually a goodbye song. They fulfilled their promise to VIPs that they would greet us again after they were discharged, but does that mean they will continue as a group? We just have to wait and see.
More than the vocals and the video, what makes this song particularly beloved is its message. This was great! And yes, while bigbang is definitely better known for their club bangers in the west, they're equally as well known for their ballads in korea. Mid-tempo songs that show off their vocals include Love Song, Cafe and Tell Me Goodbye (the last two are much, much better live than recorded. They also seem more comfortable not having to be so flashy, and just allow their inner energy and personalities to carry natural swag. (I’m not sure how to say it.) The beat, the music, and visuals aren’t “hard hitting” in-your-face. Their signature dancing and choreography- and they’re the masters of it, they’re OG - are non-existent. Totally unexpected, especially when that is now what’s super big. Totally unexpected, especially as a comeback. It’s surprising, but pleasantly so. It’s refreshing and shows how established they are (and confident and comfortable) to not have to feel like they have to. They’re subdued, and it works well to carry that pensive, distant mood and to showcase their natural, inherent coolness. I wasn’t expecting this style, but am impressed. 🐲🐉

The reason why they never meet up can be speculated. They used to be a five member group. The fact that they are never shown together, they didn't even have promotional images for the comeback together, and they show empty chairs; I think they are showcasing visually how they are not going to present themselves as BIGBANG because Bigbang is always Five. "Four season with no reason." They did no promotional appeaerances for this song (which was nonethless #1 for like 5 months lol).

Bigbang is always 100% intentional. In the video concept, each member embodies/represents a different season (of the year and of life). Taeyang: Spring. GDragon: Summer. Daesung: Fall. TOP: Winter. The reason why they never meet up can be speculated. They used to be a five member group. The fact that they are never shown together, they didn't even have promotional images for the comeback together, and they show empty chairs; I think they are showcasing visually how they are not going to present themselves as BIGBANG because Bigbang is always Five. "Four season with no reason." They did no promotional appeaerances for this song (which was nonethless #1 for like 5 months lol).
