Good tip Thomas! The way i do it to make sure it's aligned is placing the irons in a way that the teeth and the stitching groove make a perfect line (you need to have proper lighting for this) Thanks for the tip, will try it!

This looks like a good tip woth trying. I have really given up on punching straight all the way through unless I absolutely have to. What I do most of the time is to make my templates with stitching marks already on them and then punch holes in each piece in advance before gluing them up. The difficulty then becomes alignment hole-to-hole when glueing. One problem solved another problem achieved.
