- www.lianalowens... The Feel Better Bag is a technique to teach children and youth how to learn, practice, and implement healthy coping strategies. Therapists, counsellors, parents, teachers, and other helping adults can use The Feel Better Bag to help children learn relaxation skills and other coping strategies. This technique is particularly helpful for children who are stressed, anxious, sad, or angry. It can be used to help children cope with stressful or traumatic life experiences such as divorce, loss, abuse, domestic violence, serious illness, and bullying.
I'm a trainee and a bit proud of myself now as I just thought this morning I should split sessions and bring in the parents at the end and have the child teach them what they learned to empower them :) I now feel more confident suggesting this to my supervisor. I was also thinking about a treasure chest as opposed to a bag but the bag seems much easier. thanks!
I am a school counselor and i often look for creative ways to work with children. Thank you for sharing this technique . I will surely use this.
I have used this technique with a group of bereaved children. We found it to be helpful for the children in the group and for their caregivers once they returned home; the bag and the tangible items inside prompted lots of discussion afterward.
Thanks very much for sharing this technique. I have two of your books and often use them in my practice with children. I particularly enjoyed seeing a new intervention on this RUclips format.
This is a wonderful video! Thank you so much for sharing
This is a great idea! I teach my client's coping techniques all the time, but they often lose or forget them. This can keep them more organized, and remember where they can get them.

Great technique! I love that's it's a very concrete way for children to remember and practice coping skills. I've done something similar called a comfort kit.
I love this thanks so much.

This is wonderful. Forgive me if I missed this but do they bring the bag back and forth? Do they keep the props in the end?
