  • It's been a pretty brutal few weeks on the east coast of Australia. Torrential rain and flooding have been devastating to many regions and communities, including my own.
This has produced some challenges when running a lawn business, including losing a client or two. However, it's important to put a smile on ya dial and take the good with the bad, and the bad with the good! Make sure you watch for a few more details :)
So back to the video... This is PART 2, continuing from the last job I uploaded. The grass put up a fight for this cleanup, and the disabled client was over the moon.

My lawn guy is a gem. I treat him like gold. Message him not to come if the weather is bad. Make sure the lawn is clear of stuff before he arrives. I know the value of hard work and he works hard. You Sean, work harder. There will be more paying work with all this growth. And more people overwhelmed and in need of a hand. You have our admiratation and thanks. Good deeds and kindness are greater gifts than people know.

It’s mostly just individual gardeners who work on their own or have one or two people working for them. And they all do an excellent job. I wish you would watch more lawn care videos on the excellent work others do, you’ll be amazed! Lol

A beautiful job!! I'm in Texas and it's been hovering around 104-110° now for weeks and weeks with no rain. I think I've seen 2 days of rain since Apr 1. Grass just went dormant and I don' believe in using up water for grass during a drought, however I felt bad for my yard guy because there's no grass to cut, it's just dormant and has been for weeks now. I pay him now to blow leaves because all my trees are stressed out and dropping leaves like crazy. If it's overly hot, I pay him and tell him to go home and cool off. I can't have anybody working in that heat. It's simply not right to do that. I'm so grateful that I have a nice yard guy and this is his livelihood and now people are canceling out on him because there's no grass to cut. That makes me feel terrible and so I pay him, grass or no grass.

I can understand what that gentlemen is going through. My dad fell off a trackhoe and one of his feet was caught and it broke it knee and ripped all the muscles. He had to have knee replacement surgery and it still kills him 30 years later. He ended up having to have replacement surgery on the other knee because it got destroyed from making up the difference from his other leg. He now goes between wearing 2 knee braces with walking canes and a wheel chair.

Hi Sean, Losing a customer who doesn't understand when it's not possible to mow the lawn due to too much rain and the sodden ground is not a loss. It's not a pity for such a person. You can explain the situation to every child, so he doesn't want to understand it. In my region (I live only 50 km from the Czech border) there were tornadoes! I'm 60 years old now and I can't remember anything like this ever happening. The Czech Republic was particularly hard hit, an entire village was destroyed there and there were dead. We also had quite a bit of damage, but not quite as dramatically. I hope that you and your environment are healthy and get through this time well. As always, you have delivered excellent, precise and clean work and I can understand why the man is enthusiastic about you and your work. Warm greetings from Germany !

I can't imagine a client being unhappy with your quality of service. Clearly their expectations were not reasonable.

Not if the ground is still boggy after all that rain. You might be able to whip snip it ,but not mow it properly. Does your customer expect miracles, who do they think you are ,God or something, you do your best, and this is the thanks you get. I would be annoyed if that was me.Good luck Blade.sending you plenty of 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞.

This one certainly had its challenges.
That clients loss is another’s gain.
The sped up rake up reminded me of Benny hill , lol.
Hopefully the rain will lighten up, but I believe there’s more one the way.

How can someone be so senseless?? It is beyond me that this customer could not figure out that it is impossible to mow in puddles of water &/or mud. Was he/she having a bad day or just that they are 'that type' of critical client? Imo you are the best that I have seen in this profession, so it is their loss if they fired you for something that could not be helped! The old expression is: "You don't know how good you had it until it's gone." They will come to see the truth of that wisdom. 🔼

Well, ANYBODY with common sense would know after that much rain/flooding and you may have a couple of day's of sunshine should know it will not be dry. Her loss. Thanks again Sean for everything that you do!! I will trade you a little bit of rain for some of our warm weather! It's been in the 90's here the last few days and next week closer to 100 again!!

The lady may have been having a bad day herself and responded to your message before she thought about how her comments would bite her back. She’s lost a great garden surgeon. But I do feel for you. Just keep your chin up and keep up the good work. 🤗

Have you ever had to show the client your recordings to prove that you cut something or didn't cut something? Do they complain much? You do such wonderful work! I can't imagine anyone refusing to pay you or complaining to you about your work.

Greetings Sean, I'd like you to know that the thing I like best about you is your attitude. You never seem to get rattled.
Kinda one of those "role models". Just wanted you to know. Thanks!

Her loss, not yours. Some people act like spoiled brats when they don't get their way. Where I live, we have about 5 acres, and all over the property are springs. When we get the smallest amount of rain, we can't cut those areas. It's called Mother Nature. My husband has had to pull the mower out with our ATV a couple times trying to mow those areas before they were dried out. Always amusing to have people who don't do your job, have no idea how to do your job, tell you how it should be done.😂 So glad you could finish this yard. You do wonderful work. Have a great week!!

I am never surprised anymore by people and their bad attitudes. It had rained here everyday for a couple of weeks and the ground was saturated. I had a friend complain her lawn care guys had not been out. You couldn’t walk in her yard without sinking but she expected them out with riding mowers. I told her she was crazy. You did an awesome job once again on this yard. The lady that fired you is going to regret her decision. If she calls you back, up your price.

    Sometimes it's difficult.
    Even with a valid explanation.
To get people to see reason.
I'm sorry this was your experience.
    Prayerfully.
She will have a change of heart.
    In the meantime.
You continue to do as you have done.
    The God of my understanding.
Sees the heart in what you do.
    All the best.
    Awesome job.
    Well done.
