  • Are you wondering how to school a horse to improve the canter? You can use canter transitions such as trot to canter transitions. I have done a video on that so I will link that below. In today's video, I will show you two exercises that will help you to improve the balance of your horse in the canter and then we will put these two parts together to form one exercise. This is a fabulous exercise and should form part of your dressage training. I hope you enjoy it.

Improve your canter how? There are many ways to improve your canter. I'mlooking for more uphill. With this horse I recommend improving hks physical shape (unless he is very old) Ride him for longer and longer periods in the field extending and shkrtening until it doesn't look as hard. That's just my opinion, but who am I? Thank you for the video. P.s. Also sit back more.

Hi josie, I have a question I can't seem to find an answer to. In all the videos I've watched about asking for canter the rider is either already in sitting trot or sits for a few strides before. But what if you can't sit trot? I end up bouncing, lean forwards and throw my hands away 🤦🏽‍♀️

Hi Rebecca (sorry for taking so long to answer you), That is because the seat is an important part of the canter aid. What I would do if I was you is, work on your sit trot so that you can do a few steps (then rise again while you are learning) so that you can sit to ask for canter. I have a video on sit trot and maybe it can help you ruclips.net/video/4ux5Mh5hK_c/видео.html
