  • Some Jerk With A Camera's "ABC Goes To Disney World" retrospective continues with his review of the "We're Going To Disney World" two-part episode of Step By Step, the occasionally-remembered '90s sitcom starring Bobby from Dallas, Chrissy from Three's Company, and presumably other characters as well!
    DISCLAIMER: This video, like every video on this channel, is intended only for mature audiences. While the topic at hand is a form of media commonly associated with small children, the purpose of this video is to present a mixture of analysis and comedy about said media from a distinctly adult perspective, which may possibly include profane language and references to sex, drugs and/or violence. RUclips, like many websites, collects personal data on its users. The Child Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) has made it illegal to collect personal data on children younger than 13, and rather than fix their own algorithm, RUclips is essentially threatening to pass the blame onto content creators whose work may seem "attractive" to children. For these reasons, the producers of this video feel compelled to state, in no uncertain terms, that if you allow a child under 13 years old to watch this RUclips channel, you are a bad parent or guardian.

    What is even sadder is that I watched "Step By Step" constantly and now I can't even remember their character's names :(
    Well, except for JT but he had a personality that was set on "Douchebag" and the name was a easy to remember initial. It was a 90s thing to have sitcom kids with initials for names.

      Scholarships aren't always full rides; even with inflation now, it's common for scholarships to be awarded in amounts around $1000. The key is to get many of them and hope their terms don't conflict and aren't draconian.

    He's right. The parade route effectively cuts Main Street and Adventureland off from the rest of the park, so the Jungle Cruise is the absolute last thing he should be trying to reach from the Astro Orbiter while the parade is running. And besides, it's pointless because the parade never enters Tomorrowland or Fantasyland; it approaches the hub via Frontierland and Liberty Square.
    Holy shit, do I need a life.

    Clearly many of these subplots were merged together from other scripts in order to fill out the hour long two part length. It's the only explanation to a nonsensical music competition and a non-existent restaurant being involved. They were from different stories intended for another episode and they shoved them in here because they needed to fill air time. It's why the only subplot actually doing it's intended job and promoting the park is Ash whereas everyone else is being a horndog.

    • @CoolG97
      @CoolG97 8 лет назад +4

      It's Flash not Ash, but I agree it's like they put all the effort on that subplot and picked a few cliched plot-lines for the rest of the cast.

    So the weirdness of Flash.. the character that did the whole try to beat the record thing... He's a character that only existed for four episodes of this seven-season show!... He came into the show to replace a similar character that was Patrick Duffy's nephew... who had been on the show for almost 5 seasons but had left before the last bit of season 5.
    Flash literally appeared in the episode before they went to Disney World... and his last episode was the one after the Disney two-parter... As a person who vaguely remembers this show, the biggest thing I remember about this Disney World episode was how I was like who the hell is this guy? Why is he important to the show all of the sudden...
    And it was clear to me even at how young I was back then, that he had what was basically the Cody plot...(The guy who left the show earlier that season.) So it was like this weird alternate universe where some character we'd barely even met was suddenly important to the show... It felt like the show itself was trying to imply that the character had always been there and I just didn't remember him...
    And here's the even more funny part... Jerk is right about Step by Step... it's like I can barely remember anything about the show... but one of the things I do remember is the blasted Disney Episode... And since he was in four episodes only... I don't remember the episode where he was introduced or left... just him being in the Disney episodes... 50% of his screen time was in a Disney World promotion episode... And sure he is in apparently two other episodes but since I can't remember those... it's like he was literally in only the Disney episodes... It's weird...
    And looking at his IMDB... what's even weirder?? His name is Jeff Juday... GUESS What he's best known for... Playing Flash in Step by Step... For real it's his acting claim to fame.. oh sure he's done other Television... But this! This is his claim to fame, four episodes of Step by Step... And it was also his most prolific acting gig at 4 whole episodes...
    So Flash was supposed to be a replacement for Cody and both filled the wacky side character quotient... I guess they decided they didn't like him because instead of continuing on with him after season 5 he was replaced with Bronson Pinchot... who filled the wacky side character quotient but was very wildly different from the other two characters... being a beautician/buisness partner of the mom on the show...

    Why doesn't this guy have a smart phone in 2015? It can't be a random prop phone can it? I've seen him use it in other videos.

    ouch did that guy really get shot in both arms? or was that just another joke, I mean I know there is an alleged curse that came with this show but, man.

    • @RhythmGameAddict
      @RhythmGameAddict 9 лет назад +3

      iheartryanstyles Brandon Call did really get shot in both arms in September 3 1996 (exactly 4 months after this episode aired). His attacker tailgated him, Call had to turn around at a cul-de-sac and, in trying to pass the attacker on a narrow road, was shot. If you look Call up on Wikipedia, you'll find a reference that is the trial where the attacker was sentenced for the crime.
      Call himself retired acting after Step by Step ended in 1998.

    I'm just curious:
    How often did you have to get on and off the ferris wheel for all the clips? Do you remember or is it green screened?

    • @TonyGoldmark
      @TonyGoldmark  7 лет назад +4

      No green screen - all the shots in all these ABC intros are really me and Charlie on Mickey's Fun Wheel. If memory serves, we had to ride it four times in a row to get every shot I needed (on Charlie's birthday, no less!) and we used the most elaborate shotlist I've ever devised to make sure we were saying the right things at every "stop" on the wheel.

    WTF year was this that Uzbekistan was part of Russia?
    Edit checked, Uzbekistan left the Soviet Union in 1991, this episode aired in 1996. Russian guy? I'll take ethnic deletion for 2000 Alex.

      +sugarfrosted To be fair, it never says WHEN the guy from Uzbekistan set the previous record. It could've been before Uzbekistan left the Soviet Union.

    Great job dude, you just proved why Step By Step was an awful show. Aside from the theme song being mildly amusing, this show was never able to hold my attention. But I'm curious, do you actually hate all of these shows, or just Step By Step?

    • @TonyGoldmark
      @TonyGoldmark  7 лет назад +2

      "Hate" is really too strong an emotion for something as silly as a 90s sitcom. Except MAYBE for Full House, just for how proudly insipid it always was. For the rest of them...honestly, spending as much time as I did editing all these episodes gave me a sort-of Stockholm Syndrome, at least for the episodes in question. I don't think I'd ever sit down with the INTENT to watch them again, but for what they were, they were kinda fun.

      Tony Goldmark Oh ok. I love how worked up you got about Boy Meets World and Step By Step having a brief crossover. How much of that was you being genuinely outraged, and how much of it was just you being funny? Also, apparently in an episode of Family Matters, Steve Urkel had Cory Matthews as a penpal. Of course, that was an offscreen crossover, but it still kinda counts. Another thing I should mention is that Full House is an actual TV show in the Boy Meets World universe. In the pilot episode, Cory says that he doesn't understand the emotional content of Full House, and in another episode, the little sister Morgan even said, "Full House, I love those Olsen Twins"

      I think it outraged me a lot more the first time I watched these episodes. Like, I had JUST finished getting through Step By Step, and here comes Boy Meets World to remind me of it. In hindsight though, maybe I shouldn't have gotten so angry at it. Also, I don't think I quite realized just how astoundingly often this crossover stuff happens in scripted television - Google "Tommy Westphall" sometime. It's fascinating stuff.

      Tony Goldmark Ah I c. Personally I enjoy crossovers, especially if they're done well. Are u irked even more by the info I just shared with u? Also, has your opinion changed on the Steve Urkel appearance in Full House?

      Plus it's Dana, the cute one (at least, until Al grew up). She's like a less cynical version of Darlene who doesn't need a whole episode to learn to have fun.

    I am kind of interested in this show, but this episode is just a terrible first impression. The mere fact that this show is a more contemporary Brady Bunch makes me intrigued. This one episode, on the other hand, is many things to me: inaccurate, fraudulent, and downright odd. I hope to Goddess that this is the show's only stinker.
