Sam has never been the decider of his future in Minnesota, KOC and Kwesi are. KOC loves McCarthey and has proven that he can develop a QB. JJ also fits the “competitive rebuild” pay structure that Kwesi has been working on since day 1. Should Sam bring a SB to Minnesota ending the 60+ year drought, there will be statues of him all over the state and the Wilf’s will be forced to make the HC & GM make it work with him. Anything less than at least a SB appearance, and he walks so that Kwesi gets to return to build his vision within the budget he has spent the last 3 years working on. Either way, no decisions need to be made until February. Darnold has no love for the NY media and the Giants are a dumpster fire just like the Jets were when they drafted him. The Titans however have the need for a functional QB, $63M in 2025 cap space, a friendly media, and a GM in need to build something positive to save his job.
@@roryolson61 The return on the $10M investment is a trip to the playoffs when they were a 6.5 win over/under team at the beginning of the season. Also, they are now THE destination for QB's wanting to sit at the feet of KOC to reach their potential. They will however be fine with letting slinging Sammy go because: 1st. They will get a third round comp pick for him no matter what. The Vikes will not be left empty handed. 2nd. Let's say they do put the tag on him. If nobody wants to pay cap price, the Vikes get stuck with a fully guaranteed $40M contract, zero cap flexibility, and few draft picks to fix the terrible CB & OG rooms. Kwesi has made 3 years worth of moves to give him the ability to remake the roster into what he wants and leaving the decision to another team seems... sub-optimal. 3rd. It poisons the locker room as the deal always was to sign him or let him walk. Shenanigans will hurt the teams reputation that they have worked so hard to rescue after the hit it took from Zim's tenure. This was proven when Daniel Jones only came here because of the culture and the tutelage of KOC. He will probably take the backup role next year at a significant discount to allow him to rehab his image in search of another starting opportunity in 2026.
Why would Darnold want to go to the NYG? It is very charitable to call the Giants offensive line DREADFUL, also ( Darnold knows ) the media circus in New York is less than ideal. Indy or the Titans seem more likely. IF he leaves Minnesota ( which I doubt)
Darnold goes to the Rams, gets his multi year contract. Stafford goes to the Vikings to play one more season before retiring. McCarthy gets to sit for 1 more year and learn from a great veteran QB. Everybody is happy
Daniels probably filled jim in on whether it is worth it for Sam to go to Giants.
No way!

At a minimum they will sign then trade or use the franchise tag. They need a return on investment for Darnold.

Too early to tell.
He won’t go back lol

Are the Rams paying Stafford's salary? Then nope!
