I'm from northern Minnesota. My Mom was an RN in Keams Canyon in '86. Loved living in Hopiland. I loved watching the kachinas dance in middle village. My favorite were Velvet Shirt Kachinas. I miss Hopiland.
I love this...I am from Whitebear First Nation, Saskatchewan Canada and we are brothers and sisters to all natives...we have to keep these traditions alive for our children
They dance with meaning/authority, I like watching Hopis, I'm pueblo myself, similar ways , same spiritual/ceremony structure. But these men dancing here, you can see jus how old and sacred this was and still is, gives me the chills!! Thanks for sharing!!!!:)

The seperation of united states and mexico was created by the europeans. There r less than 300 miles separating the Pueblo people of new mexico and the Native people of mexico. A lot of southwest Natives and Mexican natives probably have some spanish blood in them.

Alot ov work goes into preparation for this dance. The men and women have to fast but the payoff is that they're not doing it for just us Hopis but the entire world. One ov my nieces/daughters took part in this a dance group like this so these always reminds ov her. Be happy and treat each other well.

I love seeing everyone involved and peacefully observing. I'm Navajo and have noticed a lot of drunks, competition and non involvement at our dances. So sad but beautiful to see our Hopi neighbors one wirh their culture.

But public Ritauals weren’t really the main stay in navajo culture from what I remember.we just had a lot of ceremonies .never been to a ye’ii dance till I was in high school. Even squaw dance, never saw the actual horse riding or dancing we just usually went there socialized then ate then left, didn’t see any of the ritual. It was a really boring affair.

And that’s what’s it says in the Bible doesn’t it? all pagan “ non Christian” religion well soon die out. Even look at head lines. A lot of drunks go to navajo dances, that statement in itself tells me something isn’t working.
As an American descended from immigrants, I feel humbled and profoundly privileged to witness this. Much gratitude to the traditional people who have allowed these dances and ceremonies to be shown and shared with the world❤️
This music is wonderful to fall asleep to. Like adult lullabies..LOL It's so calm and rhythmic. It is even better when not feeling well because that drum becomes a heart beat which is so very healing. Try it some time.

Hi I am Jemez Pueblo and Navajo. I’ve been off the Pueblo for 15 years. Plz anyone of my Jemez people. I remember when my uncle Robert mirabal went on a long walk to Washington my grama blessed him. I don’t really remember what is the powder does Jemez people use to bless dancers and our military men? Is is corn powder and where or how do I make it. How do I bless my son home is in the army and coming home from S Korea from more than a year ago. Was it each arm and then grab both hands and lift you to heaven?? Plz plz let me know. I don’t really remember what is the powder does Jemez people use to bless dancers and our military men? Is is corn powder and where or how do I make it. How do I bless my son home is in the army and coming home from S Korea from more than a year ago. Was it each arm and then grab both hands and lift you to heaven?? Plz plz let me know.
