With CLoudinary and mini-extensions we could probably avoid the complex make setup

Cloudinary is amazing... But. Cloudinary does extremely well with pictures and not much else in terms of optimization. It can do videos too.. but upt 100mb in size. Don't get me wrong Cloudinary is a BEAST. Its incredible for Web applications etc, yet 'Asset Management' is so much more than than just images. There's PDFs.. There's videos there's just tons of file types that a user COULD upload.
RE: Mini-extensions - I have a love-hate relationship with that service. Some people swear by them. I've used them on a couple of projects in the past and i wasn't impressed for one reason: I feel like every extension is just a one-trick pony. And then you need another one.. And another one and another.. So it become a mess. Make can also become a mess but its so much more scalable in terms of automations.
EDIT: Lately i think i saw they were taking steps towards 'portal-ification'. Haven't seen what they've done there so I can't speak about it.
