Wait, so you’re telling me all of our chemical, industrial and pharmaceutical plants dumping their chemicals into our river we drink and bathe from is BAD?! Someone please inform our politicians! I’m sure they will be super concerned!
As a native of Louisville, it's always been a bit of a joke how bad the Ohio is. The fish glow in the dark, they say. Or when a criminal jumped in it to escape the cops, "He's gonna regret that in a few years."
One can't overstate the importance of the Ohio River Valley during WW2. You could have stuck a pin in the map in Cincinnati, and drew a circle with a 200 mile radius around it and inside that circle there was more production happening than the rest of the world combined.
I sent a friend a picture of downtown Cincy a few years ago and he didn't even realize that the river WAS a river. It's GROSS.
When in doubt they will light the river on fire.
The passaic river in New Jersey would like a word
Mo NON gaa heela ... easy eh?
Loo-uh-vul to sound more native. Though TBH, really it's just Loovle.
As someone who grew up in the Upper Ohio Valley and can absolutely attest to the destruction the pollution it had, I’m grabbing the popcorn. This’ll be grand.
I live by Cincinnati and I always heard stories about the river being really polluted, but as a kid we were told that it got cleaned up and while still not perfect, it was supposed to be good for activities! The main things we were always told was try not to get it in your mouth or drink it, don't eat a lot of fish and don't go out in the water by yourself, that was it, no wonder everyone I know has cancer!
SE Ohio Native. Do a follow up on DuPont and c8. That effected my home area of Ohio, as well as West Virginia. I believe there is a film about it as well.
Mon-ong-A-hey-la.
Southern Indiana native, and it just goes to show you how bad it is when the Ohio River gets picked up by Geographics for being gross lmao
Proud Ohioan here. May God grant we reclaim our namesake river and make it beautiful once more.
Hey, Eric mispronounces stuff too! Just like Simon! I kid. This is good Stuff. Been watching this channel since the beginning. I Used to watch Science Get, too. You fit in here just fine, Eric. Cheers.

I dunno about "most polluted" as multiple US waterways have caught fire over the years, including Lake Erie.
Drove up the river last summer, Ohio is in bad shape, people seemed miserable and downtrodden, and every town along the river looks bombed out with rubble everywhere.
I'm from Cave-in-Rock! We do not swim in the river and if you're smart, you don't eat the catfish. If you wanna fish, just catch and release. If you want fresh catfish, get pond raised. Oh and Cairo is pronounced "Kay-row".
