Any time I feel the need to impress others, I get over it by remembering that no one really cares.
Even worse is that those who care don’t matter, a sure way to attract blood sucking leeches.
The vehicle you buy when you think it will impress others, but you just wind up having an overpriced soccer mom SUV with some extra chrome - and 99.9% of people think you just have a lease special Benz SUV.
Absolutely. If someone wants to impress sedans are just inherently more of a statement while being less. More sleek, less obnoxious, and the luxury is inherent in the illusion of being able to afford less utility (1), paradox, utility costs more, 2) The secret being midsize and large sedans are more than practical enough for most).
Oversized vehicles pull attention towards itself, especially as people are stepping out of and down from it. Sedans will grab attention while in motion and then direct it towards the occupants and driver as they exit out and up.
Yeah. Just buy your Chevy Suburban
Too much talking. Are you the targeted customer?
@@patrickamponsah679 Yes, and I choose to buy Porsche's instead.
@@MrSchn3llA Porsche would probably be the smarter choice.
I can see someone going for the rear bench if they're the primary driver and are comparing it to a 5 seater Range Rover Autobiography. I actually saw a silver five seater on the base 22" wheels online recently - black interior so about as "quiet" as a Maybach can be. There was something appealing about that prospect. The interior is nice but I can't help but think that a GLE 350 has roughly the same dash design.
Side note: Showing the now-dead S Class Coupe just reminds me that Mercedes Benz peaked in the mid 2010s... Bring it back!
I have had the incredible chance to drive this beautiful machine for about 1300km and boy was it fun. Only thing I was not so happy about was braking from 250 on the Autobahn to about 150. It felt like the brakes had no more reserve but other than that the stability and long journey comfort are superior
The people who have a problem with your colorful terminology need to lighten up a bit. ;)
As for the GLS, I'll be honest with you, M. If I'm gonna end up on a first name basis relationship with the guys at the dealership anyway, I'd rather do it with a Range Rover lol. I like the wheels though.
Excellent work like always, M.
I'll have an Alpina XB7 thanks.
I see those in Scottsdale. I assume you like it? Is it green or blue?
Yes, exactly!
Totally agree with you! Way more exclusive and better looking too.
@@RRJRR You must be joking
Excellent review and your foresight is priceless!
Liking this new format!
Notice they stopped using "Engineered like no other car in the world" some time ago...
Lease it. Dont complain about reliability during the lease. Give it back.
FYI, Those tax rules around Bonus depreciation are changing, being phased out. By this year, full depreciation won't be possible between 179 and bonus on many vehicles over 100k, and next year most won't be able to fully expense. For many businesses cash flow might start to matter more than tax reporting.
That is until the lobbyists do their work and the phaseout gets reversed
Not my cup of tea, but as usual, I greatly appreciate your presentation and observations here. I agree about the two-tone paint, it takes away from the overall package.
Sure, as some have mentioned, you could look at it as a re-badged GLS, but something of this caliber seems to have much more luxury than the aforementioned soccer-mom shuttle. Keep up the good work, M!
Another great video. If we assume the comparison is the Bentley and Rolls SUV, $200k seems like value.
Mercedes Australia has some faith in their current cars, as they all come with a 5yr/Unlimited KM warranty (and have done since 2020). So if I bought a Maybach GLS on my Island, I'd but a 1-2 year old car, then ditch it with 6-12 months left on the warranty! :D
No one goes to the depth that you do. That’s why I watch your videos. Most new buyers lease this kind of vehicle. The reliability is a huge issue for the secondary market. I have wanted an MB for over 50 years. My Honda budget could handle a 4 or 5 year old vehicle but not the maintenance for it. I am relegated to sitting in them at the car show or renting on European vacations.
Great format interesting topic. Add safety as well?
It is possible to not crash this vehicle. Therefore it has the potential to be the most safe.
Mercedes fan boy here. But I can agree with many other folks they have gone crazy with prices!! Just look at their inventory.
Why does the front end of every new MBZ look like a 1950 Buick? OMG are they ugly! And apparently MBZ hasn’t learned that workmanship in Alabama has put them at the bottom of the reliability list.
Please don't misunderstand us, M. *_We_* don't have an issue with you telling it like it is with regards to the RUclips algorithm (heck, that in general's the reason I subscribed so many years ago), the issue is entirely with RUclips itself having an issue.
This thing has MB badging everywhere, like the Mayback is an S Type Audi. This I thought was a stand alone brand above MB. Hmmmm. Not sure where they're going with this.
Ironically, the Maybach models are not necessarily a driver's car per say.
When you have achieved the level of wealth that the average Maybach owners holds, then it is likely that you have a Driver on the payroll. Therefore, you do not have to be bother with such mundane activities such as driving yourself.
Furthermore, it is likely that your Maybach is considered your "average" vehicle. Average meaning that you take it to locations where you are not comfortable being chauffeured around in your Rolls-Royce.
Side note - George, have you heard of _Totem Automobili?_ Specifically the GT Super model. I recently came across this *magnificent* coachbuilder and I simply cannot stop thinking about them. I would place them among the echelon of Singer Porsche's. Truly amazing works of art!
Stay classy my friend.
It's still not to late for the to add a 680 V12 model to the range. It should have had a V12 from the start.
I’ll take an XB7 over this anyday.. better build quality, better looking, cheaper to buy, and a lot more fun to drive. I think there’s very little to justify the price being Atleast $85,000 more than a non Maybach GLS
And I thought my IONIQ 5 was heavy. I’ll stick with my reclining rear seats and similar infotainment driver cluster screen set and put the rest of the money into investments. #reliability #investments 14:13
Love that wood steering wheel
I had one in my 2006 Volvo S60
@@icymayne that’s great. I was going to say we had one in our Volvo S80 2013
I was sitting at my desk loving the video then as I am drinking my second Diet coke, American Champaigne line is mentioned, and I fell out laughing! For the money, I am buying the Bentley but in reality, outside of the extreme wealthy people no one is buying these vehicles.!
In the UK the Maybach s-class is cheaper than the GLS
Curious as to your thoughts on this vs BMW Alpina XB7. Maybe slightly less luxury but same or better drivability and usability?
Drives a lot better. Cheaper. Get the captains chairs and it is almost as comfortable. More luggage space and 6 passengers with the third row if needed.
Considering that kind of vehicle: Love it! If I were forced between the two, probably would go that route over the Maybach. Tougher call between the GLS 63s and the XB7. ruclips.net/video/mYYWjftOb0Y/видео.html
I’d go BMW XB7 for sure
Huge car
OH MY BACK!!
Alabama? Hell no. 9 passenger. Just put 5 embryos in that cooler.
what do you think of the 2024 GLE 580? It has the same V8 engine with the mild hybrid tech, but certainly don't want to be stranded on a road trip... overall, do you think the car will last 150k or even 200K miles (if taken care of obviously) Your opinion is greatly appreciated! :)
Terrible gas mileage but if you plan to keep it less than five years . . . great car. More than five years, buy a Lexus.
Taxes is gross weight not actual weight
This < GLS 580 < SQ7 < Range Rover < Bentayga
Buy this if you REALLY hate money. If you neeeeed to spend $200k, the Bentayga at least hides that its a fancy SQ7
It is a gilded MLS with less reliability.
I heard that weight and for a second thought you might be testing an EV. 🤣
I would take the Maybach sedan over this every day of the week.
Soooooo you're not a fan of the M256 mild hybrid in E53 amg coupe then?
On the contrary!
@MotoManTV phew!!! Had me worried for a sec!!! Lol
Well good luck on your wishes” I have a 2010 450 and don’t believe it’s a bad motor, I am going towards 300k miles and it’s still running like new, my problem is the dealership where I service my car, they know what’s causing the P code problems but they would just put bandages on it milk you dry” when the roots of the problem all along was just spark plugs and coils, I you should ever buy one of these car find you a shop you can trust and just have them replace all the spark plug and coils, I will run like a new car again for another 120k miles 🎉
Appreciate the real world feedback.
What’s your favorite stogie?
My current favorites: LFD Andalusian Bull, Partagas Lusitania, Foundation Tabernacle as well as some house blends at a couple of my favorite haunts. Open to hearing others . . .
@@MotoManTV My current favorite is the Tatuaje Belle Encre Capa Especial. Fond of the Montecristo 1935 Signature too. And just about anything Padrón. Did Cuba in ‘99, and the best were from small-batch joints out in Pinar del Rio.
I fail to understand why any of these new “Maybach” vehicles don’t even have most of the iconic features from the original 57/62 like curtains as an option (and Rolls Royce still does).
Many years ago they made the strategic decision to stop producing separate cars and base them of existing serial production Mercedes product - yes, a cost cutting measure.
@@MotoManTV yeah forsure, I just don’t understand why they took away options like that which are pretty simple to do.
@motomantv what are you smoking
House blend from one of my usual haunts . . .
11:12 😂 😅 You kill the video ending with a plastic chair , why not go the full throne . Just saying !
Strong point. Will find a more suitable sitzplatz next time.
@@MotoManTV my boss recnently bought a 2024 GLS 600 Maybach and he owns a 2004 Mayback 57 . I can say this SUV it’s more comfortable but I wish it was a V12 like the old one .
Give me the Bentley
You can only deduct 60% in 2024.
Looks chintzy
It’s a rip off
Yesss. First to comment
Just my opinion but this thing looks terrible. I know that is not the point of the video though 😊
Yes, the Al Gore rhythm sucks.
