      It's a very different thing. To cancel the forced agreement made by Pompeo under Trump, USA would have to send more than 15,000 troops back in order to retake every base that Obama and Trump left empty. This retake will include trillions of tax payers money who were mostly the same tax payers complaining that we are spending so much money in Afganistán for "gender studies" and "warmongering" to feed the military complex. Trump made it almost impossible to have at least a foothold to hold back. "Meanwhile US Defence Secretary Mark Esper was in the Afghan capital Kabul alongside Afghanistan's President Ashraf Ghani - whose government did not take part in the US-Taliban talks." If you really want a deal made to keep a pro American government as leaders why would you not sit down with both? Heck, why would you even sit down with terrorists at all if USA policy is that "we don't negotiate with terrorists. I agree that USA needs to get better at making more friends and less enemies. However, if you are set up for failure and have an impossible task at hand make the best of it even if you fail miserably in the end.

      Hold a Eden accountable for Trump releasing 5000 Taliban from prison or negotiating. Without the elected government? For negotiating a leave time no one could comply with safely?
      The President set a leave date that allowed people to leave before the inevitable chaos. They didn’t heed the call. Some couldn’t for financial reasons and their role in the insanity can be forgiven. Those who could have left made it worse for the rest because they felt entitled to special consideration.
      Now the Taliban and ISIS are tightening the screws on the people of the country. That is the fault of the elected administration and the warlords who managed the conscription of what really wasn’t much of an armed force.

    This hearing has a grounding in good policy. I hope it stays above board but it quickly devolves into accusations.
    Let’s remember who’s schedule this happened under. Further, recall that the State Department sent out a notice to every registered citizen and sites where Americans were in Country saying when the withdrawal would happen and strongly suggested they leave as soon as possible. Almost no one heeded that call. This withdrawal was always going to be a mess.
    The incident that cost 13 American lives at a side gate at the airport and more than 100 Afghan lives was a result of the mini war between the Afghan arm of ISIS and the Taliban. It was designed to smear the Taliban as much as to attack the USA. That attacker was released under an agreement the Former President’s crew who blocked the then Afghan Government from participation.
    The US should have left Afghanistan ten years earlier than it did and not engaged in nation building. No one in the Afghan government was being honest about where US and allied money was going. Much of the stated army of Afghanistan existed only on paper. Maintenance on donated equipment was almost non existent. The Taliban now has piles of donated military equipment much of which is only good as scrap.

    • @dixieporter2960
      @dixieporter2960 9 месяцев назад

      @skidancin Not in this case. For starters, the only reason we went into Afghanistan was to get Bin Laden. We were supposed to pull out as soon as we got him, but by that time, we were fully entrenched, and really didn’t do much to help us in that goal. Turned out that Bush just used Afghanistan as a jump off point for his real goal, Iraq. He thought his Daddy was wrong leaving Sadam in power. Sure enough, not listening to his Daddy led to ISLE. I never bought into his lies about weapons of mass destruction. We ended up with our boots on the ground fighting for 20 years.
      Putin went into Ukraine as a jump off point to returning Russia to the USSR, and if Trump had won, he would probably have succeeded. His goals were a true threat to our allies and eventually our own country. We did not create a rallying point for Ukrainians to put up a fight against Putin's invasion. They were already fighting it when we stepped up and provided weapons they needed to keep fighting.
      The only thing Afghanistan and Ukraine have in common is the fighting and dying, but that is true of every war, necessary or not.

    Here are the facts this dude is ignoring. First, Biden extended the withdrawal date Trump negotiated by four months, giving US citizens five months to make arrangements to get out of Afghanistan. Instead of doing so, they chose to wait until the very last minute which contributed to a lot more chaos.
    Trump had already withdrawn from all but one base. Staying would have required the retaking of those bases and cost a lot more lives of our military service members than we lost in the withdrawal. We were there 20 years and we provided military training to Afghanistan citizens and left them the equipment they needed to defeat the Taliban. The vast majority of Afghan military members decided to lay down their arms and hand the country over to the Taliban. That alone should tell us all that withdrawing from Afghanistan was the right decision.

    • @Tim82ATW
      @Tim82ATW 10 месяцев назад +1

      Biden was advised numerous times by General Miller (RSM Commander) and General McKenzie (centcom commander) to not do a full withdrawal and to leave some boots on ground for a show of force. (2500 troops) He didn't listen and 13 service members lost their lives. General Miller and Gen McKenzie both testified under oath about their recommendations. If Biden would have listened those 13 service members would be alive today. These are the facts.

    And now the US will send 50k American-Afghanistan Employees aka Afghanistan Refugees abroad such as The Philippines all expenses paid that includes housing, hospitalizations, schools and securities for 4yrs without visas. The Philippines has no Embassy in Afghanistan so they'll be flown to Islamabad for the embassy assessments. That's what I heard from The Philippine Senate hearings. My questions is: Will this continue as planned? What will happen after 4yrs? The country are still suffering from leftist insurgencies for decades now and so the people don't want this. The people don't have any idea who these people are. This might create tensions or havoc and might disregard US Bases in the country again and the people don't want that to happen. Don't do this to the country... my country The Republic of the Philippines.
    Edit: We are glad that The US are back, but please not with this one. Just a thought and opinion. Thank you.
