Mine had sram nx whereas the 2021 has shimano deore, and the 2020 comes with tektro brakes which are awful. I’ve put a brand X dropper on mine and I’m saving up for some shimano slx 4 piston brakes

Thanks for the vid. I am hoping to buy a SQ3 on Saturday from the LBS. I had things narrowed down to a couple models but saw that Marin still offers a lifetime warranty on the rigid aluminum frames so that pushed me towards the Marin. I just cracked a frame on my old bike(not marin)

Great video! Question: what do you do of you are between frame sizes? I am 5’6” with 29” inseam. I currently ride a size small 2015 Specialized Stumpjumper Evolution Como. Is it been to go down in size so you can man-handle it or go up in size? Thanks 🙏 in advance!
I have the riftzone 3 because I broke the frame at the gusset on my ok’d b17-2. Riftzone frame was next to replace great geometry change. But I have to buy a bigger dropper now that the seat clamp area is considerably lower than the b17-2. Pretty bikes.
How different does the XL size feel compared to the large? I'm wondering cause I feel I'm in between the two sizes being around 6 feet tall, and I'm getting a mix of recommendations from different shops. I don't want to feel that the bike is too small or too big for me, but I do tend to lean towards a more nimble bike. Normally I'd try them both in the shop, but with the shortages, that's nearly impossible to accomplish nowadays. What would you say separates them in terms of ride feel to the best of your knowledge?
It seems there are two versions of the bike with different GEO at the connection point of the seat post and top tube (not sure how this part is called but visible in the video)? Local dealer here has the SQ3 with the geo of the blue bike hero and the SQ2 with the geo of the orange one?! Do you know any details?
Great video, I have recently booked a sq-3. Here on RUclips, your video is probably the most detailed video regarding the San Quentins. One thing that I don’t understand is that the specs specifically mention “suspension lockout” in specs of the San Quentin 1 on the official website, but San Quentin 3 specs don’t have “suspension lockout” mentioned anywhere on the official website. Does this mean that only the San Quentin 1 has a lockout feature or do all the San Quentins have a lockout feature? PS: I am new to mountain biking, in case you are wondering Looking forward to hearing from you. Regards,
I think it is mentioned on the SQ1 because at that price it is considered a feature. As the prices increase, a fork lockout is basically expected so they don't bother mentioning

Hi interested getting Marin SQ3, I’m 176cm and having trouble choosing between medium or large size frame. I’m more trail riding and single track on a hard tail. Any advice what would be my size of frame? Much appreciated. Thanks!
Great video, I just received my sq3, do you know if the rims come with tape for tubeless? I noticed they came with some kind of tape but I’m not sure if that works for tubeless or I if need to remove and use real rim tape, thx
The ones we checked seemed to be taped and ready for Tubeless. That said, we are seeing some inconsistencies with specifications as the factory will change details depending on outsourced parts availability. Typically Tubeless compatible tape has a shiny smooth appearance, non Tubeless has some texture and a satin finish.
@@BikeBrosBikeShop thank you for replying :) I have a last question hopefully you can answer, putting back the rear wheel is a pain in the *ss (axle not screwing to the other side) the trick seems to be derailleur hanger, It has some play, should i tighten it until no play or loosen it until axle can screw all the way to the other side?
@@danyAlva11 Hi, we've seen this sort of issue on bikes from a few brands. Loosening the hanger could allow it to align with the thread's better to get the axle in easier. Just make sure you tighten the hanger after. I'd make sure there is some grease on the thread too. If this is the case, test if the axle is hard to remove with the hanger tightened - if it is, loosen the hanger before loosening. I'm guessing this could be extra thick paint somewhere that mis-aligns the threads at the last part of tightening.
Hi great video. I am newish to MTB have a tolon 2 to thinking of upgrading to fathom 2 or San Quentin 2. Which is the better choice ? Would like to do some jumps and harder trails. Thanks all help greatly appreciated.
I think they're both great options and you're sort of trading lighter weight (Fathom) for a bit more toughness on the Marin. This year, with the shortage of bikes, if you're lucky enough to find either then you're pretty lucky and I'd be surprised if you had a moment where both were available at the same time from your local store.
cant decide on the sq 2 or 3 and the riftzone 2 and 3. i don't have a preference on full sus or hard tail, i just want whats the best bang for the money in that category of san q and riftzone
I'd go with the SQ 3 or RZ 3 if you can afford it. Quality of suspension and drivetrain is worth it and especially suspension as it is so expensive to buy after market. Whether you go SQ or RZ is very personal. I love having a hardtail as a second bike for when the mood hits but prefer a full suspension bike as my main bike for comfort and being able to do some drops more easily. If find my wrists and lower back get sore more quickly on a hardtail.
I only ride a carrera now but looking for an upgrade. At 17 I have a job and enough money for SQ 2 is it much better than the SQ1? Is the SQ1 even worth buying?
San Quentin 1 is a great bike for what it costs... it just isn't as refined or as tough as the SQ2, just like the SQ3 is even more refined and more capable. SQ1 still has the same great handling characteristics, just won't hold up quite as well under harsher use.
Medium would work if you're looking for a stable trail bike. Small would work if you're hoping to have a more agile bike (like if you enjoy jumping and messing around). One thing to watch for, if you go with a medium (and you're officially on the small side for a medium) is that the dropper will work for your desired pedalling seat height.

Is san Quentin 1 frame the same as these two
Hi, no it isn't. The 1 is designed for a qr rear hub, not a thru-axle

No, bikes don't come with any tools.
