I know eating scenes are extremely difficult to shoot with continuity issues, doing multiple takes/ eating multiple times and delivering lines with mouth full of food. I have seen shows where the actors just play with the food without bringing it anywhere close to their mouths. The Wire is just awesome.

Chris Partlow's family including his young daughter were presumably looked after by the now multi-millionaire, out of the game Marlo after he took the life sentence for all of the vacant house murders to protect his friend and one-time boss.
The way the cop broke the seriousness asking about cole slaw was perfect. It’s the exact contrast that makes this show great. An extremely serious moment that shocks you, followed by a moment of every day life. Reminding us this is a tragedy that happens everyday. People you’ll never know die every day, and people just keep on going ordering cole slaw.
and for bey, murder wasn't all that serious. he was more upset about not getting the potato salad than confessing to and probably actually committing multiple murders

At this point, the detail that worked on the Barksdale organization is getting shut down and anyone who could do something about it is either recovering from getting shot or being dumped somewhere for fucking with the bosses. Sergei admitting to killing the guy who killed all the girls in the can in season 2 is what gets the Major Crimes Unit established.

This scene takes on a new life in Season 4 when you realize that he has a son, Namond, who was also out hustling in the streets and headed down the same path. While Wee-Bey is a soldier here, he ultimately sees it's not worth and wants better for his son. And seeing that his son wasn't built for that life, he also recognized he'd probably end up dead or just messed up.
I think he saw too much of D'Angelo in his own son. Wee-bay was smart enough to figure it was his name that was propping Namond up and having seen first hand how it played out previously he was unwilling for it to happen again.

A couple days ago I'm on my way to work and it dawn's on me that Bird would have gotten at least a new trial based on Weebay's confession. Folks, this show's been wrapped for almost years and the characters are still living in my head everyday: simply amazing!
I don’t think it would because later on in this episode when Bunk mentions to Jimmy that Weebay confessed to the murder Bird was charged with they both agree that Weebay’s version of how it played out doesn’t match the evidence. Jimmy even says that as Weebay was already getting a life sentence he more than likely was just confessing to try to save Bird.

I love Wee-Bey’s acting here; it’s very natural. As someone who took a few acting classes years ago, I realize how difficult it is to do eating scenes. One is conscious of the dialogue and trying to portray all of the right emotions and everything, while still taking bites of food and sips of drink at appropriate times. Most beginning actors would have clearly enunciated the word “witnesses, “before taking a sip of Coke. But the actor, Hassan Jones, was so in the moment, that he kind of obscured the word “witnesses,” as he was taking a drink. That’s how people eat and talk in real life.

I think one detail that has gotten overlooked over the years is Wee-Bey’s official name; Roland. Why is this significant? Well if we are going by the chess motif and Wee-Bey is a knight, Roland was not just any knight, but the greatest knight in the Matter of France who was one of the Twelve Paladins of CHARLEMANGE, the 1st Holy Roman Emperor. Oh and he also wielded Durandal the French counterpart to EXCALIBUR and going by other legends was originally a part of a spear wielded by Hector of Troy.

This scene takes on a new life in Season 4 when you realize that he has a son, Namond, who was also out hustling in the streets and headed down the same path. While Wee-Bey is a soldier here, he ultimately sees it's not worth and wants better for his son. And seeing that his son wasn't built for that life, he also recognized he'd probably end up dead or just messed up.
Season 4 is the most sad season. The ending for thos eboys, with the exception of Namond, was just tragic.
I think he saw too much of D'Angelo in his own son. Wee-bay was smart enough to figure it was his name that was propping Namond up and having seen first hand how it played out previously he was unwilling for it to happen again.

A couple days ago I'm on my way to work and it dawn's on me that Bird would have gotten at least a new trial based on Weebay's confession. Folks, this show's been wrapped for almost years and the characters are still living in my head everyday: simply amazing!
I don’t think it would because later on in this episode when Bunk mentions to Jimmy that Weebay confessed to the murder Bird was charged with they both agree that Weebay’s version of how it played out doesn’t match the evidence. Jimmy even says that as Weebay was already getting a life sentence he more than likely was just confessing to try to save Bird.
That’s assuming bird appealed his conviction but given the way he behaved he probably get shanked before he even filed the docs

I love Wee-Bey’s acting here; it’s very natural. As someone who took a few acting classes years ago, I realize how difficult it is to do eating scenes.
One is conscious of the dialogue and trying to portray all of the right emotions and everything, while still taking bites of food and sips of drink at appropriate times. Most beginning actors would have clearly enunciated the word “witnesses, “before taking a sip of Coke. But the actor, Hassan Jones, was so in the moment, that he kind of obscured the word “witnesses,”
as he was taking a drink.
That’s how people eat and talk in real life.
I dont wanna rain on the parade but, they don’t actually eat food on most sets and he doesn’t actually eat the food here. It cuts away every time he puts something up to his mouth.

I think the 'piece' that broke me was being shown how the characters in Bodie's murder scene moved like chess pieces - Bodie a pawn, Chris and Snoop and ole boy who shot him like knights (to your point here as Chris and Bey were shown to be counterparts in the final montage).
