The 4th album from the Pagan Metal Horde. First Orders will receive a FREE EXCLUSIVE A2 HEIDEVOLK Poster. With their latest album, Heidevolk takes their fans to a time in which Germanic tribes fought against the Roman Empire along the banks of the Rhine for domination of Northwest Europe. Caught in the middle of it all were the Batavians, the protagonists and namesakes of Heidevolk's latest album "Batavi". Set against the backdrop of war, alliances, intrigue, and betrayal, the nine songs relate the struggle of a people needing to redefine themselves in order to survive this turbulent time. While the band's musical path continues to explore traditional pagan metal, it proves to be much more resolute and aggressive than ever before. The characteristic clean sound of both Heidevolk vocalists recounts the stories comprising "Batavi", while heavy guitars, thundering drums, and folk melodies build the foundation of each track: at times sweeping and at others melancholic. Peter Tägtgren's mix masterfully defined the band's sound on this 2012 release. "Batavi" catapults the listener directly onto the north-western European battlefields of the Roman Empire.

i am surprised the use of two singers is not more common, back in the 1980's i used to see this hardcore band from Rhode Island USA that had two singers and it worked so well. that band was called the idle rich...worked in hardcore then and still works in pagan metal...should see more of it today, and yes Heidevolk is awesome.
Okay this song did it, Heidevolk is now my all time most favorite band.
I'm proud to say that Batavi is a milestone in Folk Metal history. A true masterpiece!!!
This song can't get out of my head for three days now. I don't understand a word they sing, but I can understand when I hear good metal. And that is an epic metal! There's something in the vocals that makes this band absolutely great and unique

Ik had graag gehad dat deze mannen al bezig waren met hun muziek in de tijd dat ik mijn examen moest doen voor de middelbare school (1994) Dan had ik wel geweten waar ik veel inspiratie vandaan had kunnen halen voor het vak geschiedenis.

What I noticed after listening a few times, is how perfect the flow of the music carries the story they are singing about, At first I didn't notice, but now I see how much effort they put into the flow of the song. I love it!

this is one of the best bands I've ever heard it makes my blood stir with rage. their lyrics really explain what a Barbarian fought for in those times.

I saw them play Winnipeg Canada for Paganfest 2013. Totally awesome, as in I really was in awe. I picked up "Uit oude ground" and a tee-shirt. at the show.. wish now I had also bought "Batavi". But Pagan metal does get me a drinking and after spending $ on other bands merch at the Paganfest show, I blew the rest of my $ on beers.. If I am ever lucky enough to see Heidevolk play live again, I make sure to bring extra beer and merch money..

@kalehagridNL Ik geloof niet dat Heidevolk ooit 100% folkmetal is geweest, maar folk-/vikingmetal. Met Batavi zijn de behoorlijk de kant van de vikingmetal opgegaan, maar ik vind ze nog steeds geweldig.
