Many, many thanks to you and your priceless video. My fog lights were busted due to road debris. I ordered my replacement bulbs from Amazon for $73 and installed both bulbs in approximately 15 minutes. Now I feel nothing is impossible for me with my bmw. I thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills
I just wanted to change my light from the traditional bulbs to LED, since they color much nicer to my xenon headlights. I saw another how-to-video but that didn't look right after mounting the foglights back. So I clicked the next video... this one. So I changed my lamps within 10 minutes, following these (very) simple steps. Thank you for taking the time to record and share.
Passenger Fog Light w/ adaptive headlight was delivered today & within 10 minutes the busted one was replaced by the new. Thanks again you saved me some $$$
Hey guys, an update on the repair..I took the liberty to call BMW get the actual cost of repair. Blieve me when I say this $580 to repair one light. Then I called my trusted AAA mechanic and he quoted me $302 for 1 light. Said the lights can be sold separately and it's pain in the neck to install :) Guys. This video helped alot, i changed the lights in 5 mins. Don't be afraid of the DIY stuff, watch these great videos, comment and like them as they are helpful. Thanks.
My BMW has adaptive headlights so the replacement fog lamps are $180 apiece. After looking at your video, I found a used one on eBay for $66. Replaced the light in 10 minutes!
Awesome, just purchased my passenger side fog light w/ adaptive headlamp via amazon for $114, called the dealership, it was over $200 for the fog light & $100 for labor, I’m going to do it myself, hopefully it goes well, thanks again for sharing this video
Thanks for sharing the video. BMW dealer in SW Houston quoted us freaking $790 to replace SINGLE fog light on X1. My wife bought one from Amazon for $60 and replaced herself.
Can you please link which ones you ordered on ebay? Or similar ones? The price range is big and I’d like to get the same quality as yours! Thanks in advance
Excellent video with clear explanation. Girlfriend just got her 2008 X3 back from front end damage someone did. The fog lights have a gap around the light..isn't there supposed to be a rubber ring around them both to seal that gap or is that gap supposed to be there? (Not sure if there's a motor that moves them a bit when the X3 turns?). Thank you and happy holidays!!
If I recall, there is a small gap around it. I thought it was strange, too, but then realized the light is a sealed unit so there's no need to have it completely sealed tight around it. I know mine DON'T turn (mine's a 2013)... perhaps later models do. Happy holidays to you, as well!
@@haskam9615 Has, I believe the 2010 and earlier have a separate cover piece that is in front of the light. At least our 2010 does, and I suspect your 2008 is similar to ours. The 2011 on new were changed.
I'm sorry... I don't honestly know. My guess is they would be similar, since it would make little sense to change something like that from model year to model year.
Purchased what I thought was the exact replacement you’re showing for my 2013 x1. However mine showed up without a bulb, no metal flange. Please give link to proper replacement piece, thank you!
I replaced one of them but it fell out of place later. Now I can't get it back in place no matter how I angle it in. I can't tell if something may have broken inside. Anyone know where a clear pic of the inside might be so I can compare?
he did change the bulb it was with the new light....one thing I do dislike is the different color of the bulbs in the replacements. When I did this I reused the bulb that came with the X3 and just swapped housing. Good luck. Easy job.
@@ronm7781 I meant to a higher temp. I have the Halo's on my BMW and the fogs are halogen, which is annoying to me. (yes I do know a certain color can do worse in inclement weather)

Glad you found the video helpful AND entertaining. That's the exact reason mine needed to be replaced... rocks and road debris.

Whoa!! Amazing!! Never thought this would be so easy.
Fantastic video, short & sharp and the beginning was truly excellent!

Thanks for this video. It really gives me a good place to start with replacing a broken fixture on one of my fog lights for my BMW X3 2006.

Outrageous price for one!!!! Glad this helped.
can you aupply the link on Amazon?
Mine are milky/ cloudy so I’m going to use your extremely helpful video to remove them and then polish etc them back to new
Great tip. Local dealer quoted £300. I sourced part locally (original manufacturer) £97. Less than 5 minutes to fit.
Thanks to you for this video. Easy fix for a few DIY dollars. Less than $75us
Awesome quick video! Just like you said >10min install awesome!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you. I did less 8 min with your help and save a lot money!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. This saved me so much.
Love your humor brother! thanks for the video!
Thanks a lot for the video! Does the same technique work on a 2013 X1?
Not 100% sure, sorry.
My bulb burned lut. One can just replace the bulb or is it only sold as a unit? thanks for the video!
Great question! As far as I know, the whole thing is a sealed unit. I don't think you can replace JUST the bulb.
They are 760$ each in Australia and that doesn’t include the 250$ labour cost nor tax
Yikes! That's not cheap!
Very useful 👌 Thanks
6 bmw mechanics disliked the video lol
I'm sure that's who it was! LOL
This video is awesome! Where did you get the replacement lamps from? I’m also in Canada
I think I got them on eBay. Unfortunately, their order history doesn't go back far enough for me to confirm... but it WASN'T Amazon.
excellent video. well done.
Are you able to replace just the bulb and not the whole thing?
No. As far as I know it's a sealed unit.
Can you please link which ones you ordered on ebay? Or similar ones? The price range is big and I’d like to get the same quality as yours! Thanks in advance
Unfortunately, eBay's records only go back 2-3 years and I bought these well before then, so I can't find the specific ones that I bought.
Loved this! Any chance replacing a cracked headlight cover is that easy to replace?
Sadly, I think the headlights are a lot harder to deal with.
Where did you buy these fog lights from?
I got them from Amazon. It was many years ago now, but at the time I just did a simple search and found them.
Does anyone know if the fog lights on the bmw 1 series f20 have clips to pull out like these?
Great Job.
Keep it up :)
great video. I'm going onto ebay now.
I have a X5 and my front fog lamp is out. Will that be the same method ?
Yes, it's my understanding they are are very similar, if not identical.
Well done. Thanks!

Hello! Is the procedure the same for 2018 F15 X5 ?
I'm sorry... I don't honestly know. My guess is they would be similar, since it would make little sense to change something like that from model year to model year.

I just looked on Amazon/eBay. I don't know of a specific link to the part. Sorry.
@@AnimationGoneWrong This is for an X3 - for an X1 things get more interesting : e84.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1413307
Info is always on the bulb itself, similar to info found on a tire. Just match exact info when purchasing new

Maybe the retaining clip got bent up too far. Check that.
Is this the same for a 2016 428i?
I'm sorry, I don't know. It should be easy enough to try removing one of them to see. They pop back in pretty easily, too.
👍👍👍👍👍👍 thanks
Great video, but I am sad that you didn’t change the bulb lol
