I couldn't describe playing medic more. I went from "I'll play a support role and heal my team! This should be fun!" to "My team can't get hurt if the is no team to hurt them."

At the last Free Roleplay Gaming Day our P&P club offered I played a dwarven cleric. I was kind of the medic of our level 1 team. As it came to the boss battle with a Hobgoblin general, a foe our GM accidentally thought it was a much lower threat than it actually was, it was for me healing my crew every round just to get them whacked into negative again. I wasted a natural 20 on healing the wizard instead of attacking the boss, only to know that my attack would have killed the boss... So, never play a healer.
Usually I Either Play As The Medic Or The Spy.

I love this song so dang much. I may be 9 years late, but I just need to talk about this.
This is a song about madness. About Medic's gradually deteriorating mind. It starts with Medic expressing annoyance at his job, commenting on the "...screaming in my mind", already showing his insanity. He then says, "The only real solution's absolutely homicide!", which shows the idea of murder crossing his mind, and Medic completely agreeing with this idea. The next part is Medic resolving to put these plans into place, as he talks about deciding let the injuries stay, and tearing Heavy apart. Medic is usually associated with Heavy. It's a kind of symbiotic relationship in a way. Heavy provides protection for Medic, and Medic provides healing to his tank of a companion (This is in no way a guide on how to play Medic. This is just a statement of what is usually seen.). But Medic has decided that he doesn't care at this point. Sure, he may be referring to the BLU Heavy, but the evidence points the other way. Medic then begins to compare his abilities to others. How they are so much better at combat then him. So how will he become a weapon of mass murder? He contemplates, but only falls further from grace. Well, further than he already was. It is here we note a shift in the music. The previously orderly music has devolved into discordant slams onto the piano, as Medic decides his entire team should die. He really WAS referring to the RED Heavy. He then says that at this point, he doesn't "...care about points or payloads, only psychopathic sprees. Nor which color team you're playing, RED or BLU!". Medic only thirsts for one thing: Blood. It is during this part of the song where he ignores someone screaming "MEDIC!", something he acknowledged earlier in the song. It serves as proof positive of how firm Medic is in his new belief. After this, however, the music shifts again. The music sounds far more triumphant and righteous. Along with this, Medic begins justifying his actions. Examples include:
"I'm a physician on a mission, and contrition's not my style!", where he says that it goes against who he is to feel remorse for what he is doing.
"There's a high price to pay for the health I've purveyed! All I do, you've ignored! All I do, I've abhorred!", showing how he says this rampage is sufficient comeuppance for no one appreciating his work.
During this entire segment, one can see light near Medic. The light shows how he thinks of himself: Correct, and just. But that comes into question at the next part. He remembers his past, of how he used to be "...valiantly healing everyone crying 'MEDIC!'", showing how, in a ever so slight way, Medic does regret his resolution. But, right when one may believe he decides to return to his original work, he brings up the fact that he "...once healed a Spy who then knifed me goodbye! That's when I learned to just, let people die! LET THEM DIE!", showing his true motives, and how these murderous ideas have been in his mind for quite some time. The rest of the song is him giving threats to the RED team, before being promptly executed by the enemy Sniper. The song closes in the most poignant way a TF2 song could: A recording, from before Medic became such a monster. If things had gone differently, maybe this could be him. Maybe that last person crying for Medic could have saved him. Maybe that person in the recording could still have been the person we see today.

Medics don't heal Scouts: New game. Medic and heavy are separated, and "Scout" is holding up Medic. Medic gets doublecrossed by Spy and this leads to..
MEDIC!: The after effect of the last two. Medic has finally had it, and doesn't care if people live or die. He mentions getting stabbed by the disguised Spy, which helps prove this takes place after Medics don't heal Scouts.

Good theory but in medics don't heal scouts he says look the heavy needs my help so mabye when he respawns he went to the heavy which would also explain the wording he used. he said I ONCE healed a spy indicating it took place quite a while ago but maybe I am just REALLY over thinking this.

Pyro can reveal the Spy's cloak with his flamethrower, and the Heavy... you all know him.
And yes, I just checked, it turns out the Pyro is best for Spy-checking, because his flamethrower can nullify BOTH the Spy's disguise and cloak.

I think that the "Medics Don't Heal Scouts" musical is a prequel to this musical. In the song, the Medic says "I once healed a spy who then knifed me goodbye" and in the "Medics Don't Heal Scouts" musical, at the end, he gets knifed by the scout. He never said that the he knew that the spy he healed before he got knifed was a spy. And in that musical, the Medic seemed nicer than in this musical. So, here's what I think what happened:
AJ saw a scout begging for the Medic, and although he was resentful a first, his heart overrode his "status quo", but before he could heal the scout, the scout, who was really a spy, knifed him. This sent the Medic in a state of confusion and depression until he grew insane and decided to kill everyone. Then he got shot in the head by the Beard.

Revisiting this after “Engineers Are Your Friend.” Such a classic! I enjoy it more each time. Epic! Dramatic! Honestly a great character study for his TOTALLY RELATABLE motivations. Love the lines “All I do, you’ve ignored. All I do, I’ve abhorred!” and when it picks back up again all dark: “Leave the Demo man for dead! Let the Heavy fill with lead!” All culminating in my favorite part: the pain in his voice as he yells “May you LOATHE this WRETCHED game, without the Medic!” 🥲
Definitely the best TF2 song, easily a top 10 RE song in general.

G-Toywell YT if you’ve watched older musicals by them then you’ve seen Peter. He’s the guy with the black beard. He does the voice for Medic in all the TF2 songs, he’s the main guy in Papers Please the Musical, he’s the first guy singing in Friday the 13th the Musical, he’s the second guy in the Vaults of Fallout Musical, he is the Neighbor in the Hello Neighbor Musicals. I could keep going but that’s enough examples, I recommend watching older musicals because some feature other members that have moved on from RE.

Musically, this is legitimately a masterpiece.

And the record player at the end lends itself to so many theories.
This was actually all part of the Medic's Lip-synching routine along with his interpretive dance routine
I was thinking along the lines of the fact that record was playing the whole time. It was a song that sounded similar to the song the Medic was singing. It was a song that the Medic made when he first joined Mann Co. and it was made before he had this breakdown and decided to become the ultimate Battle Medic. That's why the background song refers to him as a "friendly PHD".When he declared that he wouldn't do his job anymore, Mann Co. had him snuffed out by the Sniper (The Beard) so that he couldn't inspire other classes to revolt.
But hey, that's just a theory.

@@blazeblue1257 Actually, it gives a mini Crit, different from a full Critical. If matched up with the Bushwhack, which crits all the time when you make a mini Crit, great with a buff banner Soldier, or Jarate, to deal major crits. That, or a headshot does Auto Crit.

Well, I actually enjoy playing as the Medic because it gives me the feelings that Im importing something to my team.
When I hear someone call for Medic I will try my best to dodge the bullets of Heavies and Snipers, the rockets and pills/grenades of the Soldier and Demo, always Spy-checking more often than the Pyro, and just to get to my patient who needs my help. Usually I will be on the back of my team healing everyone while watching my back since no one really cares if I die, depending the playing mode as capture the flag to MvM mode. Iam that Medic who will sacrifice my life to save the life of someone else if Im not holding my Crussader Cross-Bow, the one who will be next to you saying "Everything will go fine". If I dont find a teamate to heal, I will go Combat Medic to fight for my life until I get reinforcement from my team. Iam the Medic who will make sure you dont die on the front lines against the enemy team or the robots. Iam the one who will uber you to make you a God ..

As a Medic main(formerly, cause it's SO DAMN STRESSFUL), i can safely say this is what it feels like to play Medic
UPDATE: I'm back to being a Medic Main again. No other class can change the tide of a battle other than a Medic, and I also love being the anchor of that the team needs to push forward and win the match.
(Plus I also got an Aussie Medi Gun so yeah :D)

It's very high stress, so yeah. Bit abnormal. While a normal person only has to focus on one or two people on the enemy team, a medic has to focus on everyone on the field, making sure everyone has a bit of overheal, keeping the pocket at full overheal, watching ubercharge, making sure there's no spies... And keeping a nice line of patients between you and the enemy.
