wow excellent and smart rental, you will do really well in future with bigger things. I always love the idea of rental business - passive income. Can you give break down of rental income for each equipment per month? What do you do if there is damage, or a customer simply run away with your equipment? Have any experience?
Thanks for sharing this info! Are you using a credit card processing service for payment and deposit or are you writing down people's credit card numbers in case none of the gear comes back? (I'd be surprised if people are comfortable with that). The security deposit I assume doesn't cover the gear if not returned, so is there a credit card service that allows you to initiate a new charge to cover the cost of what doesn't come back or how would you handle that to protect yourself?
Yes we use Square and Stripe. We take a driver's license and record their # DOB and license and mention we have their info so that we can always get our gear back. Also we require $150 security deposit separate from the rental fee. We hold that in Venmo until our gear is back. Plus we have property stickers and record our serial numbers. If anyone was crazy to not return gear we have all the info to file a police report. But there is always a little bit of risk.
Good idea. We add on wireless if they ask for $20 for cheap Soundtown or $50 for Shure. The cheap mics are bad at feedback so we just add the wired in the basic package.
I’m wanting to start a front of house business. I’m wanting to offer my services to other peoples events weather is DJing, doing sound for bands, speeches, choirs, and presentations. Would this fall under a rental business?
Rental is when you just charge a fee for someone to use your gear. So people are free to pay us the rental fee and security deposit when they pick up. But if you set it up or run it for them that is considered a service. For a service we do not require a deposit because the gear does not leave our possession. We sometimes setup and leave gear for other DJs for their events. We require 50% for booking and they have to pay the other 50% the day before the event unless they are a DJ that we have worked with and we ask them to pay the other half by the next day.

That sounds like a smart way of doing it. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you lil bro so much juice 🥤
thanks wavy dago
Would you care to share approximate rental prices? Looking to do the same in my state (SC) and curious what folks charge and how they find you.
We started at $50 for two 12” and powered mixer, then $60, now $70. We might go to $80. We use free classifieds and FB Marketplace.
Maybe you could add a pair of wireless mics to your power amp rack setups.

cool 👍🏼
thanks David that is our dad's name!

Where are you located? I'm thinking of doing the same thing in Denver.
We have been to Denver cool city. We are in Salt Lake.
Hi! Why don't you put a Bluetooth receiver instead of a Lightning adapter?
We don’t use Bluetooth because it drops out sometimes. We have a shure wireless mic which we can rent extra if they need wireless.
Also do you have any examples you could show of your packages?
