Seven league boots was the name of the original song. The melody and parts of the chorus and hook were repurposed by C, S, N and turned into the massive hit heard here.

After a band tops out, there's always that one towering masterpiece - Maybe I'm Amazed, Good Vibrations - that rises out of the ashes. Southern Cross is that song. It would be one of the best tracks on either CSN or Déjà Vu. I actually like these covers better than the originals because I hate the way Stills processed the vocals to make it so hard to hear the polyphony. It's hard to do a perfect cover but this is it. The guitar has all of the groove and the vocals are just sublime.
Absolutely wonderful cover. Solid guitar work and the three vocals harmonized perfectly. The added bonus was the fourth bandmate- once can’t ask for better accompaniment then a friendly golden retriever wanting a piece of the action. Seriously, that was a superbly fantastic cover.
Fortunately, I'm a You Tube junkie. This time it started with a friend of mine doing a heart wrenching cover of Don't Let It Bring You Down. Neil right! I know - be patient. So of course ended up listening to an early Neil version. Well, growing up when all this stuff was brand new, never left the house without an 8 track under a seat or in the glovebox of the usual suspects - All the mutations of The Springfield, CSN, CSN&Y, all the solo projects, Burrito Brothers, Crazy Horse...you get the picture. Flash forward a decade and I find myself navigating the Atlantic and Caribbean. You have to pay attention on the water which only meant relaxing in port. I'm not sure how many watering holes I've enjoyed, but always had live music. And fitting with the territory, mixed with a plethora of Buffet songs, were guys and gals doing Southern Cross. Strong as death version guys! Y'all are the cream! First music of anything you have done. Guess I'll take another detour on this winding You Tube Road and listen to more of your stuff. And the adventure continues ....

Awesome acoustic version of the Crosby, Stills and Nash classic! Beautiful harmonies! Almost sounded as if I were sitting in the same room listening to this performance! The sound is amazing! Very well done! The pet dog appearing is a nice, touching addition!

What's funny is this song was copied from the Curtis Bros. They wrote the song Seven League Boots. Same style, chords and wording. Oh, it was sung by Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. :)
