What is the difference between 99ti and 98ti alliance? The reason why I’m asking is because I am a guy, 5’6” and only weigh about 130lb. I heard that mind bender 99ti are quite heavy and they seem like a little too much ski for me even though I’m advanced and aggressive skier due to my height and weight. I was wondering if 98ti would be better skis for me if the skis are a little lighter and also little easier to bend. Right now I’m on a pair of QST 92 that are a ton of fun but looking for something that will ski better through crud and the pair that don’t have as much tip chatter at high speed as QST 92 does. Thank you. I always enjoy watching your reviews as a ski geek.

Basically the only difference is the wood core. The 99Ti uses aspen and maple, the 98Ti Alliance just uses aspen. Slightly softer flex in the 98Ti, but similar weight overall. Maple is a denser material, so there is a difference in weight, but it's not super noticeable. I do think the 98Ti would be a better choice for your weight, however. Both are going to be better through the crud and won't chatter as much as your QSTs.
