- In 1987 a documentary was made about my pal Moishe on the occasion of his going to grad school - since he was a graduate of NYC's famed Stuyvesant HS, we went down to tape some teachers recollections of Moishe....we happened upon future pulitzer prize winning author of Angela's Ashes, Frank McCourt (and one of Moishe's teachers) and this never before footage was shot of Mr. McCourt musing about his former student - this was incidentally just before he retired from teaching to embark upon his second career as a famed writer....he was also my teacher as well and I have very fond memories of him....rest in peace, Frank.
I'm so glad that my English teacher made me read Teacher Man last year.
Rest in Peace Mr McCourt.
Good video....captures him well. He was my teacher at McKee 64-68
Frank McCourt; one of the finest Americans this country has ever known. I listen to his audiobooks in my car. Great stuff.
I went to this high school and the first book I read was by McCourt. The book was amazing. It was the first time I've ever cried so hard reading a book: very, very well written. I'm saddened that I never met him in person, especially since he pretty much retired before I was even born.
And he was always insecure about his looks. What an intelligent and handsome man he was.
That Is Brilliant! Thank You For Posting This...RIP..Frank McCourt.
Awesome post - thanks a lot for sharing this bit of historical video of a great writer. RIP Mr. McCourt.
Thank you so much for sharing this. l really wish I could have sat down and had a pint or a cup of tea with him.
Great to see this. Thanks for sharing it. A man apart was McCourt.
That's a great video. Just as I imagined him. A Great American teacher, author, person, Frank McCourt; epic. Do read his books.
Wow, you really hit the jackpot there. That's just great. Thanks for posting.
And Moishe, you really missed out bro. I would have LOVED to have had Frank McCourt at my wedding.
R.I.P. Francis "Frank" McCourt
@alwaysflowers Yeah I just finished reading 'Teacher Man' and for some reason, I loved it more than the rest, as well. Totally agree with you there!
@alwaysflowers Angela's Ashes is tough to read. I meen its a good book and easy to follow. It is just so depressing. First few pages a baby dies.
Moishe - why didn't you invite him to your wedding?
cool!!!
