A masterclass in totally accurate explanation < in this case, 2-way wiring > using TOTALLY accurate language in the shortest possible sentences, no mean feat! Amazing! A must watch!
I must have watched 10 + vids prior to this one everyone more confusing than the other, then I clicked on this one and it all became clear, a great video a nd explanation thanks fir posting 👍
M8, that was so good, as are all of your vids. I wish my boss could explain wiring to me so simply! Please keep it coming, I regularly watch these videos on site when I need a reminder or a confidance booster. Thank you so much for your help.
Great videos you have, very easy to understand! I’ve also seen before when working on jobs, and I was taught this way too. The 3 core and earth that is wired between both the two way switches. It doesn’t really matter which cores you use. Obviously earth is earth, but I’ve seen brown (from the 3 core and earth cable) go into common and the black goes into L1 and grey into L2. Both black and grey identified with brown sleeving to show they’re switch wires. Then mirror image the same at the other two way switch.
It took an hours of watching usless explanations until this one aaved the day! This is the best explanation of how to wire one light with two switches!
Watched a few so called professional videos trying to explain the same, but none were as simple or as good as yours. Top work. Will definitely subscribe and follow your videos. Thank you!!!
What if you've got a 2gang switch instead of a 1 gang. Do you just add an small off cut and link between the same terminals? So you control upstairs and Downstairs light from any point.
In this case you will need to run two 3 core cables instead of 1 so that you have 2 strappers controlling both of the 2 ways. It’s hard to explain in text.
I want to install an outside light, I have a light switch inside close by to where I'm going to have the outside light fitted too the wall, is it possible too make the inside light switch into a two gang switch and have a wire going from the switch directly to the outside light.
Great videos..🤟 Staircase two way Sw.. If DB is next to bottom Switch and Lamp is near top switch ..if using 3 core cable..can I use third core as Neutral? Thank you
Great explanation .. one qusation , is there any regulations about hot line colours 😕 allowed to use in pvc conduit single wire as red yellow or pink or orange or green ..
If you are referring to the colour of the cables then yes, current regulations state that new colours (brown, blue and earth) have to be used in oppose to old colours (red, black and earth).
I've learned a different connection from technical school. The live wire goes to the COM of the first switch, the L1 and L2 of the first switch go to the L1 and L2 of the second switch and the COM of the second switch is the live to the lamp
@@m101ist this way is mostly used when the wiring is in tubes, inside the walls. From the DB you get the live wire to a switch of a specific lighting circuit (because a breaker often controls multiple lighting spots), and this wire goes under the floor. Then, 2 other wires will be connected from the one switch to the other (that's the connection I was referring to before), and again, these wires will go under the floor. Finally, you connect a wire from the other switch to the lighting spot, and that's the live connection. Now, for the neutral, you just take a wire from the neutral terminal in the DB, and it goes to the light through the ceiling. The reason for this, is that you always have to design an installation in a way so that you can use as less as possible wire length, and trust me, lighting installation is probably the worst part of an electrical installation. Note that I didn't mention the earth wire for simplicity.
best explanation I have seen to date

man you do it so so good and easy way.really really appreciated.
You simplified that so much super helpful video much easier to follow
thank you for the video - what would be really useful at the end is to explain how the two-way switching actually happens
every single video out there will explain how that works, but will miss this bit, you can't have everything :)
Your the man ,best explanation online
Very good explanation and useful information 👍👍👍
First class video very well explained 👍
Thank you very much. I fixed my lighting switch issue .
It very nice and easy way to make understanding
Thanks
Great explanation amazing
My son was almost waiting to see how the contacts operate inside your😁 2 way switches, so i did him a diagram
Love your videos easy to follow

Brilliantly thank you 😊
Very easy to understand.
found the video very informative and useful
Absolutely Brilliant, thanks
Excellent channel
Sorry, by the drawjng, is that the l1 and l2 on the second switch wrong wired?

Thank you for your work.
How can this work with your lights put together with the switch connection method where all the wires are at your switch
Old video, but do you really need to put brown sleeve on grey and black cores? Those colours also indicating live wire.
It’s good practice, you’re indicating that these are switch wires.
Very good video
Thanks for sharing it with us
How do you do this when you’ve spured off socket then to fcu?

It will work wired that way, brown wire to first switch, where does the blue neutral wire go. If one using twin and CPC ?

brilliant thank you
Może lepiej żeby Ruch Oporu to zainstalował?
Thank you
Is 1.5mm cable still allowed to use for lightning.
yes
For the most part, 1.5mm is universal for domestic lighting.
Non electricians "live, neutral, earth"
Us electricians "line, neutral, cpc" 😂
Thanksអគុណ
How do you connect spot light where there is no ceiling rose.
Junction box in the ceiling.
@@bitTorrenter where there is no ceiling rose.
@@Billy_Bull_Sheeter The existing wire( if the is one) will be live neutral and earth.
@@antonios4926 there is 1 wire. Do all the spotlights come beck to the 1 wire?
@@Billy_Bull_Sheeter No just one spotlight after another no return. Was the existing cable a light that came on with a switch?
No video for inspection & testing?
That would be a very long and complex video.
Why would it go right from the consumer unit to the light, then to the switch, thats so weird
A lot of electricians now go to the switch and then to the light. No junction boxes to mess around with
Wow
👌🏾
Don't you mean 3-way switches?
Wire a light

Do you REALLY need to play "music" over yourself talking ,
Excellent x
