I've got an M57 X5 myself that I'm investigating vehicles to do the conversion. I've seen plenty of patrols and defenders in Europe but this is the first troopy/cruiser I've seen and even better that it's right here in Oz!!
Hey mate got an update on the old bus. Keen to hear how the conversion is going after being in the ar for the last few months. Any problems that have occurred. I did a td5 swap in my disco 1 and now feeling like it needs more power and I know the m57 make more power stock than a remapped td5 so keen to have a mapped m57 in my disco
One of the most reliable BMW engines out there. The only issues you'll have after high mileage is with the EGR, intake manifold, turbo and etc. At least those were the issues I had with my 240,000 mile M57-D30. If you have the newer models with the DPF, it can be a big problem to deal with.
