Sorry there is no option to write a new post when you are logged in. The interface doesn't match. Its f***ed, hovering the mouse pointer over my profile produces nothing.

For individual blog posts, make sure you fill in the 'Search Description' box (and include your main keyword there). Also make sure your Permalink contains your main Keyword (but, keep it as short as possible). Shorter Permalinks rank higher over time. And, make sure the Headline of your posts are not too long as well. These are the important things to look out for while publishing any blog post. Cheers.

Yes, you can blog professionally using Blogger.
But to get an Unlimited range of functionality, I'd recommend you blog using Wordpress CMS.
