  • In this video, I take a few minutes to address a comment made on my channel about Jimmy Johnson's intrigue with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1993, and attempt to bring the incident back into its proper contextual place in history. It's another story of Jimmy & Jerry, that timeless duo which has provided sports fans with no shortage of talking points.
    Enjoy!

Probably not much different than when he coached the Dolphins. Jimmy was a great coach and (functioning GM) who caught lightning in a bottle with the Herschel trade and rode it to the HOF. If Jimmy could've amassed the same level of talent at Miami (or JAX) and as at Dallas, the sky would've been the limit.

Furthermore, Mike Fisher is a ‘Pro’ Jerry Jones guy. He’s going to knock Jimmy down as many pegs as it takes. Why? Because Mike gets permission to access as much benefits as Jerry allows him as long as he shows LOYALTY. He even has a “Jimmy quit” t-shirt in Fishers online store. Careful what you (not you Ryan) believe from Fisher.

Yes, the Fisher factor was definitely part of that story. And it's also fair to realize that Fisher worked for the Star Telegram at the time, a paper that was getting mutilated in sales by the Morning News, so Fisher and his editors were a little more willing to go ahead with a story without necessarily crossing all their "T's" and dotting all their "I's" so to speak. Anything to beat the Morning News to a juicy story. I'm not trying to bash Fisher here, but his sources - whether you're talking about in current times or way back then in the early '90s - don't seem to be overly accurate.
