Still fresh after 10 years. I smile every single time I watch a reaction to this. Shaun is missed. His and Corey's joy is infectious. Pure Joy. Imagine the eargasm the engineer is having.... Enjoy the rabbithole! Sounds like LCR panning... I bet a Atmos mix would be something to listen to...
The guy who couldn't and left - Shaun Martin, 7X grammy winner. We lost him in August. Incredible musician. The man who tipped him over the edge? Cory Henry. More Snarky Puppy, please! (Not certain, but I believe black headphones are audience, red are members of the band.)
that was my introduction to snarky puppy.. what groove, what mastery.. what joy :-) snarky puppy has been on all my playlists since.. i am sure you will enjoy the hell out of it 🙂
Fun facts: “Lingus is, for the most part, in 5/4; the middle 8 is twice as fast as the verse (composer Michael League said it’s SP’s version if dub step). This was also written on the way to Europe (flying on Aer Lingus) then, recorded in Amsterdam. The audience members are distinguishable from the musicians because they are wearing ‘silent disco’ bluetooth headphones which are connected to the main mixing board output, giving them a ‘clean’ version if the recording. Snarky Puppy was formed from musicians at University of North Texas, a mecca for the best jazz instrumentalists for decades. The band currently calls Brooklyn NY home. The song was composed in “Logic” and each performer learns all parts. They are all consummate musicians and deserve every accolade they receive.
These guys are so creative, surprising, and satisfying. I never tire of hearing this band or this tune. Great recording also. Since you seem to like complex music played by wonderful musicians you must dive into some early Genesis (almost anything from the '70s). Genesis was greatly influenced by jazz and classical music. One of the MOST creative and tight bands ever. Another band that plays this type of music is Brand X (Phil Collins was their drummer). They sound like a mash-up of the best of Mahavishnu Orchestra and Weather Report.
Snarky Puppy is a rabbit hole that leads to more rabbit holes, via their albums "Family Dinner - Volume One" and "Family Dinner - Volume Two", which feature many great guest acts and artists. Some you may have heard of, but others not.
Hi there Gina!! It's been a minute!! I LOVE that someone had you react to a musical experience that might be considered "out of the mainstream." 'Eclectic' might be another description. They are VERY popular within a somewhat instrumentally focused audience. Snarky Puppy does some amazing stuff! A LONG time ago, when I first "found" you, I mentioned a group called "Dirty Loops" in a live stream. If you appreciate outstanding musicianship, they are a must. I will try to find a way to pay for a reaction to them! You should add Snarky Puppy to your "Ginx Warren." 😄
lol, Oh I assure you, Snarky Puppy has been added to the warren🤣😉 And I do actually vaguely remember making note of Dirty Loops! Like I forgot about it until you just mentioned it!
Cool fact the Drmmer had never really played this before. He studied it on the plane to the recording, he had a very rudimentary practice & then they recorded it...
None of the members of the band had played this song prior to arriving in the Netherlands for these sessions. The bass player wrote the skeleton of this piece on the flight over, the band worked on it for a bit prior to these sessions but the drummer wasn’t there yet being a last minute replacement for their regular drummer. He arrivered on the first day of recording, had one rehearsal and then it was go.
If you want more asmsing things from this bunch of music wizards - MUST SEE is ANYTHIG from this Live recording session in Holland "We like it here".... btw Shofukan ist magical!
Welcome, you as an audio engineer have a lot of material to study here with Snarky Puppy. Finish this album then move to Empire Central. 126 individual tracks. They have a short documentary on "We like it here" album and "Empire Central" well worth the watch.
I just love how all new reaction creators are instantly fludded by those who try to re-live the first time they heard Corey when he lights up the solo by watching so called Linus-virgins. Including myself.
I've seen them live. They're off the hook. I had a friend that played with them a few times. I love all types of jazz. I really think you should react to these artists. I would really be interested what you think of them. When musicians are in the 'zone' they all know and appreciate it. This tune has many special moments and connections. Spectacular.
Welcome. This will be an epic journey. ❤

Funky Big Jazz Band! Nothing like Snarky. Immaculate and Delightful. And a lot to chew on.
Welcome to the Snarky Puppy rabbit hole. They're 5 time Grammy Award winners so a bit surprising you weren't aware of them.
