Thanks so much for this! Adding a vellum rest blend to the initial cloth geometry was such a good idea. Thanks a bunch

Great tutorial. I have watched Paul Esteves' and Entagma's versions as well but yours bypasses the kineFX part and makes it so much easier. Good Job! One thing i would change is the last part where you use the restblend to fight the crumbling issue. In my opinion using it tells the sim don't listen to physics, but rather to the unsimulated result, which partly defies the organicness. I solved the issue by simply dialing down the compression stiffness in the vellum constraints.

Thanks! Yeah it takes some fiddling with the rest blend amount to get it to look organic. I'll have to try your method too, thanks for the tip!

Thank you for this! Super nice and clear in your explanations and I love how simple you kept the solutions without sacrificing proceduralism

THANK YOU IAN. Youre right, there arent many resources out there. John Kunz has a really good one on his patreon but its a pretty complex set up even for me.

A premium quality tutorial. Thank you Ian and hope we can see more Houdini stuff in your channel. :)
PS: I found a way to avoid vex in for loops but your approach is also pretty understandable.

Hi, thanks for this. I've been trying to work this stuff out watching the quick run throughs on the houdini channel but no one explained it as well as you.

I was following along with the tutorial but at the end, my petal wont bend at the created origins & directions that you made with start & and points, They wont bend on these individual axis. i also have no direction coordinates for the start and end groups aswell.. would be nice if you can help me! Thanks man

Hey I am using houdini 19.5.773, everything in the tutorial works except anything to do with vellum. My scene is set up identically, all values too. The vellum just explodes at the values you have it at, was vellum updated ?? Vellum rest blend also does basically nothing for me. ;( Great tutorial though perhaps I will try it in an older version of houdini!

Once again I love your tutorials
Edit: This is definitely easier than the vex one I did a year ago that wrote a page of vex to have a series of leaves uncurl

I did the lights and textures in redshift, but didn't show that part in this tutorial.
