I was just tired. Tired of wash days, Tired of feeling bound by my hair. And what made me really realize it was time to loc was that I was doing mini twists ALL the time.
Same here! I am super fed up with being a slave to my hair. I am getting it locked very soon. I have spent loads of money to just be a hair care slave. 😠
This right here, I currently have in minitwist and I am thinking of just letting it loc. The new growth is crazy and its 100+ every month to 6 weeks to get it redone with deep conditioner and everything.
About to start my journey and these are all of my reasons. I feel I need a W2 for the amount of time it takes to do my natural hair. 11 years of fighting my hair.
15 years of detangling super thick and long kinky hair will make you think about it at least once. Edit: Another sign would be having this real concern about “fighting” your hair. If your hair has the tendency to easily mat together, you may decide not to continue preventing it from doing what it naturally does.
This is me. It locs itself WEEKLY, which doesn’t match my lazy natural ways 😫 Been natural 11 years… and after all this time of feeling like my hair fights me, this video and your comment are making me face the music : it’s ME fighting MY hair. I suppose I need to finally let my hair be, so I can be ME ❤️
I want to loc my hair because I want a change. Not only physically but spiritually. I feel like it will help bring out more of my femininity, break away from fear and commitment, and just being deeply rooted in myself.
I loc'd my hair two weeks ago because of all of the reasons you pointed out. No regrets. I love my hair even more and I have so much freedom with my time
Wow I’m 5/5 here!! Whew! I have always been one who loved my hair and trying different styles… I took so much pride in it… relaxed and natural. But I kind of reached a point where I was just looking in the mirror and exhausted just thinking about it. I gave myself 2 weeks to decide if I wanted to change my mind. I could not stop thinking about it. So I did it. I’m 6 months in and still as excited as I was on day one.
I shaved mine off cuz it stressed me out way too much. I had gotten to the point where I couldn't take care of it anymore with my work and course load. It'll grow back though..then I just may get on the loc train! Great video! :)
Hi! I have an appointment for two strand starter locs this weekend. I'm excited! I've tried locs in the past but felt I didn't have enough. I had about 40-45. I'm just tired of not enjoying wearing my loose natural hair. The humidity ruins my beautiful hairstyles, it gets so tangled when I do wear it out, my hair is always in twists or 2 braids, etc. Yep, it's time to give locs another try! Thanks for the video! Your locs are beautiful! 🤗
Yes!! All the reasons I’m thinking of locing my hair! It takes me 3 days to do my hair the first I need to mentally prepare myself for the work I’m about to put in on my head the next 2 days 😩
It’s time. Lol I laughed when you said “if you keep your hair in protective styles to avoid doing your hair” 🤣🤣🤣🤣. I keep my hair out for a week and I’m over it. 😂 The following weekend it’s back in braids for 4 weeks.
It was reason #3 for me. My hair was getting, how to we say… “not cute” because I was just ponytailing it because I didn’t want to do my hair. Since starting my RUclips channel has been 100% more than I’ve done to it in the last 5 years. Loved this video!
Truly, Truly, my hair is lovely but I used to wear wigs most time, I was tired of styling buying products that did not work, currently I'm one month loc😍
I've been dabbling with the decision to Loc my hair (on and off) for about 4 years now. Each time when I'm on, I'm submerged in research and other people's Loc journey. I've decided to install some mini twists this weekend to get an idea of the possible transition...... Please pray for me lol 🙏😬
U finally 🔒 my hair after years of procrastinating. I finally commuted in August of this year. I must say it was the best decision I had made. I'm more confident then ever. 🤓
I NEEDED to hear this as I've been contemplating for a while now on getting my hair loc'd. I am one who HATES a lot of hair maintenace. I'm tired of the feedin and knotless braids. I just want a change!! And I think I am finally ready to start my journey in Oct 2024 🙂
The fact that I keep coming across your videos is my sign.been natural 5 years now and it's time for change. Been looking at locs videos for a while now and yeah the braids and crochet styles are getting old to me. So my goal is definitely to start within the next few months. Thanks for these videos your hair looks amazing. I wish I had the patience to do my own locs.
You only missed one I can think of... it's the casually bringing it up to family members, to gage their thoughts on natural locs and dreads. ☺ I'm going to be starting the micro loc journey diy in 2-3 months(around my 36th bday in Feb. to produce new growth) after being fully relaxed since the age of 5 years old. I have no kids but if I did I would never put a chemical in their hair. I'm looking forward to stripping out of my African American costume and stepping into being my black woman for the very first time🍒🍫!! The freedom I see in your eyes, makes me feel like a slave 🔗. I will be keeping my relaxed ends for a min. of 6 mos. How far Kween🍒🍫👑❣!?! 🌬 You look even more amazing than you think🌠

I feel like your speaking to me! I have been obsessed with sisterlocs/microlocs for the past 4 years, have a Pinterest board with hundreds of pics and wear protective styles because my hair likes to be left alone. Lol! My natural hair is just slightly above armpit length and wash days are just draining. I’m so ready to get my locs now but it’s difficult finding a loctician in my area so I’ve been watching your vids and other RUclipsrs with micro locs to figure it out. Hoping to loc my hair before the end of this month!

I wanted to try something new, I dived in head first not really knowing much about locs. When I tell you this is the greatest decision I’ve ever made in my life. Never seen this much growth in 4 months vs the 19 almost 20 years that I’ve been on this earth. I’ll be 20 soon but, if you are having doubts to anyone reading this. START THEM NOW! 💗💗💗
Lol, I just thinking how it time for me to lock my hair, while in that thought, your video pop up. It really a confirmation that it time for me to lock my hair. Thank you sis. By the way you are absolutely beautiful

Combing out my 5 month locs just because I feel like one side of my head isn't even plus I now want my hair dyed first 🤦🏾♀️sigh but definitely love locs, I'm always looking at locs, I cannot stand having to put on a wig and doing extra crap to wigs so yeah I'd rather have locs lol. @@KekeJ Exactly. 3 years was too long settling and not being happy with my how my locs looked. Now I won’t say they were bad they were gorgeous just not what I initially wanted.
The reason why I want to lock my hair it is because I am tired of doing different hairstyles and they are painful. Welcome to the loc community and welcome to the Pride!! 🦁💕
I'm definitely getting tired of the maintenance. I use to enjoy trying different styles and products. Now I'm team protective styles. This confirmed it might be time for locs.
All the signs! Once I had my baby and I no longer had the free time to take a day to finish a protective style (cuz im lazy), that was my first sign lol. & she has just as much, thick hair as me. Wash day is a marathon now.
What lipstick is that? 😍💋
It’s NYX lip lingerie “After Hours” and a brown lip liner!
I've been thinking about it a lot lately
