- Fulton John Sheen, was born May 8, 1895 in Illinois and was ordained a priest of the diocese of Peoria in Peoria, IL on September 20, 1919. In 1930, after just eleven years of priesthood, Sheen began hosting a weekly Sunday night radio broadcast called The Catholic Hour. This broadcast captured many devoted listeners, reportedly drawing an audience of four million people every week for two decades. In 1951, Sheen was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdioceses of New York, the same year he started Life is Worth Living. Life is Worth Living ran until 1957. Bishop Sheen hosted another television series, The Fulton Sheen Program, running from 1961 to 1968 that closely modeled the Life is Worth Living series.
In 1979 Fulton J. Sheen received his greatest accolade when Pope John Paul II embraced him and said, "You have written and spoken well of the Lord Jesus. You are a loyal son of the Church." With that last acknowledgement, Fulton Sheen passed into eternal life just two months later on December 9, 1979.
Bishop Fulton Sheen was scheduled for beatification (the process of becoming a saint in the Catholic Church) on December 21, 2019, at the Cathedral of St. Mary in Peoria. On December 3, 2019, the Diocese of Peoria announced that the beatification of Sheen would be delayed.
We're now in the year 2024 and I'm so glad there was a person in the past that cared about the future and the state of every individual. I pray that everyone gets a chance to see Archbishop's Fulton's videos and take away something they learnt to our broken world. We Christians are the light of the world and the salt of the earth.

Back in the day this man was faithfully watched on television by a great many people, whether Catholic or not. He won awards. How times have changed.
He could have said it last week and it would fit perfectly into our troubled world now...Where are priests/bishops of that caliber nowadays ??

Too many bishops just regard their work as a job, like any secular job, and are too focused on their comfortable lifestyle. Jesus wasn't like that. They are also mostly concerned with the survival of the institutional church, not saving souls.

The Reign of Terror mostly concluded with the executions of Robespierre and Saint-Just (and thousands of others) in July of 1794. As for how this all ties in, Thomas Jefferson was an Ambassador in Paris from 1784 to 1789. The American Revolution and the civil war in France occurred at relatively similar points but had vastly different results, as obviously the USA remains with its founding documents, yet the First Republic was short-lived and officially ended with Napoleon's First Empire.

This morning waking up I had a strong feeling of remembering something long ago. My Mom who passed years ago, and she listened to Bishop Sheen faithfully. So I looked up utube and as if my mom nudged me from Heaven...LISTEN to this...what Bishop Sheen said left Mr speechless . It was as if Bishop Sheen looked into our here and now.
Thank you Bishop Sheen it's as God gave His message to us through your great teachings. Please pray for us and lead us to trust in God and ourselves.
I just stumbled on this video and it has amazed me. I am not catholic, but this video has had a terrific impact. Bishop Sheens words are as relevant today as they were when he spoke them decades ago. Everything he says is almost scary in the reflection of the past few years. We are definitely living in a perilous year and the words he used need to be heard. Even if people are not religious. We need to build "UP' this country.
Bishop Sheen actually won awards when he was broadcasted on mainstream television. People of many denominations watched his show.

This man, the Venerable Bishop Fulton J. Sheen needs to be made a saint, soon. I know the Holy See needs to dot its "I's" and cross it's "T's" but its about time to make this holy man a saint. Venerable Fulton J Sheen does make a very good point and that is life is worth living. Some people think that their lives aren’t worth living for at all but I for one disagree. It’s true that we’re going to be encountering misfortunes but we shouldn’t give up at all and shouldn’t give up on God. Our lives are worth living for because God created us all. And I say, “God is good. All the time. God is good.” And in fact, I have a friend who’s a victim of Crohn’s disease and bipolar depression. And when things didn’t go well for him, he almost wanted to take his life but he didn’t and immediately changed his mind. And as his friend, I couldn’t stand him being emotionally upset about his incurable illness and bipolar depression. So I’ve decided to help him out by boosting up his positive attitude and tell him not to give up. And in May last year, when he was a student at Southern CT state university. He was struggling with his homework and schoolwork assignments and at first it seemed impossible for him but as his friend, I took out my Knights of Columbus rosary and prayed that he would finish off his schoolwork and homework assignments and graduate. And on May 20th 2022 was his big day of graduating. His parents and I were sincerely hoping and praying that he would succeed and graduate. And it became a possibility for him. His Crohn’s disease and bipolar depression are still with him but he will not let incurable illness and mental disorder ruin his life. And why? Because he has a friend like me for support.
Gosh if only we had listened to him 6 decades ago….we might now be in this mess today,
Found this video the day after the debate between President Trump and Kamala. The first minute of this video floored me on the prophetic words of Bishop Sheen. I hope it does NOT come true. The rest of the video could have been written for today. Wow!

But we MUST be willing to listen to what he says, and to then DO what he says. If you will do this then I can safely say that GOD will give you exactly what you need. But you need to talk earnestly. Everyday, And beleive he can do anything. Truly Anything. He will lalways be bigger than ANY of our problems. I pray for you. And i too am financially burdened EVERY day. But now I understand that with God he Will provide. We just have to trust, and Expexct him to deliver. I hope this helps you.
