Die Mecklenburg Vorpommern als Kartonmodell

Hello and welcome to a presentation of the Mecklenburg Western Pomerania cardboard model. The kit is published by Connys Modellbau and is on a scale of 1:250. It is the largest model that Conny has on offer and includes 30 sheets of DIN A4.
Let's briefly browse through it so you can get an impression of it. The length of the ship is 200 meters, and as a model it is 80 cm long. This is where you reach the limits of making models out of cardboard; the material simply doesn't offer anything more. You can continue to strengthen the frames and supporting parts, but at some point it will simply become too heavy. Afterwards I'll demonstrate to you how I can hold the large model with one hand without anything bending.
The Mecklenburg Vorpommern was built in Bremerhaven in 1996, so it is already 27 years old. But it still makes a modern impression and is used on the route from Rostock to Trelleborg. There are a whole series of films on RUclips that deal with the ferry in use. This video with the model represents a certain addition.
It takes a lot of time to build a model like this. I myself had to deal with it for a good 2 months. The construction itself was actually rather simple because all the parts were large and well numbered. However, you should have practiced on a few smaller models beforehand.
The big helicopter on the deck isn't Conny's and I don't think such a big helicopter could land there, but I borrowed it from another kit and it looks pretty good up there.
I downloaded the many trucks and buses on the loading deck from Conny and printed them out myself. They make the model more lively.
I documented the construction itself back then, but due to a stupid mistake these pictures were lost, so I can only present the model to you in this form. Only a single photo has survived and shows me at the beginning of construction.

Hier kann man den Bausatz kaufen. Bei einem so großen Modell sollte man aber schon etwas Erfahrung mitbringen. Wenn Du neu bist, dann fange besser mit einem kleineren Modell an. Viel Erfolg!
