It would me more useful the say what scale degree notes you are playing instead of what fret and what string, that teaches people to parrot not learn music. Are you playing the root, flat 7th / minor 7 and flat 3rd / minor etc, the 1, 7 and 3
Hi, thx for your comment. As this series is geared towards beginners, I feel it is more important to get an idea of what some basic chords/lines/rhythms are and how they might be applied. Most often in my lessons I do make a point of stating that it is not so important to play the piece "exactly" , but to try and take an idea or two and incorporate it into your own style. I certainly won't argue having knowledge and application of theory is of benefit when learning any style of music, I just don't feel it is MOST important. Also, theory can sometimes be more daunting and confusing in the beginning as opposed to helpful. Thx again for your comment. Cheers!
