Im subscribed m’lord
Politely, I have been for some time, good sir.
that beard is gorgeous
I am politely letting you know I am subscribed and I was here first.
Fake news
There is also the inspiration pick. I definitely picked Jin in Blazblue purely off of Fenrich's play. If you have gotten into this game by a particular moment that you saw, or player that impressed you, then try giving the character they play a go. You'll always then be interested in looking up that players matches for guidance. Even if that moment or player is from another game, what character are they picking in SF6? Maybe they'll interest you too
Happy for you bro
The inspiration pick is def helpful if you're an experienced player, but it's hard to tell that to someone new to the genre imo
thats what got me into playing ramlethal in strive, saw some random xrd? tournament years ago and remembered seeing her do some cool shit and then when I picked up strive I was like, hey I remember her. I have since moved on to other characters but it was a nice first step in
@@LordKnightfgc i saw memokarps baiken in xrd, never touch gg before, didnt know wtf was going but i told myself that character looks unfair as fuck and i love that. Picked up strive when she was added. Ik shes not the same but i found new reasons and players (you're one of them) that kept me interested in maining her. Looking back if it wasnt for baiken i dont think i would have picked up strive. The game is full of cool character but shes the only one that made me wanna learn the game.
This is what got me to play Balrog in SFV. Both Smug and Brian_F were playing him at the time and I had a great time watching them and learning the character.
1 fundamental
1 zoning/defensive
1 rushdown/offensive
I like this idea. I was planning on doing Juri/JP/Marisa this weekend and going from there.
I might also go with this route. Dhalsi. instead of JP though
"YOU are leveling up..." Thanks. I knew that, but I didn't...KNOW that...
smh implying Honda ISNT a waifu character
Are u sure
I'm in the "I like too many characters" boat right now. I was a previous Vega player in 4 and 5, but I have 5 characters right now that I can't decide between: Manon, Juri, Jamie, Dee Jay, Honda.
Deejay definetly would be the pick for me. The most interesting playstyle to figure out, and the most potential for development
Your video is by far the most realistic and helpful video to deal with a character crisis, thank you so much !
I've always had trash defense, so I thought I needed to be far away. I learned to zone decently well, but anyone with any skill closes, and there's my trash defense, but with a no-reversal character to make it even worse. I think "ok, but throws make em slow down so i can breathe..." and learned to grapple, which helped a LOT but...I can never seem to quite nail down one that just...feels right. There's always a wrong-motioned move or a weird-yet-crucial normal that, for me, just throws off the kit WAY too much, or the perfect kit will be on a character I can't stand.
That is why I end up above average but not actually good, every single time. I just keep jumping characters, because I can't ever find that one.
Huh, funny enough I gravitated to Juri, JP and Marisa as the primary 3 I want to play (Though I definitely have an eye on Kimberly), zoomed out enough I did a similar thing to your 3 Character idea.
I love how much I see veteran players giving the same initial advice I always do. Play who looks cool to you. Liking the character you play Genuinely helps you improve because you're enjoying the process of learning more. Because it's the fastest way to pick it gets you in games sooner, and the sooner you're in games the sooner you're seeing the whole roster in action which can lead to 'WHOA that character can do THAT? That's SICK' and boom, a natural desire to try a new fighter is born.
I know for street fighter as well, there can be a extra piece of advice to help expediate the process - whether you like charge inputs or not. Those who do not like charge inputs can more easily lock out some of the choices, and if you are cool with charge inputs it's a good idea to check out the charge characters earnestly, they tend to have some sauce.
Used to hate charge inputs then i played urien and now i'm completely fine playing charge characters, urien was the first charge character i found cool and it opened up that whole side of the roster for me.
ty for the video gonna try those method
I literally did the three-character strat when I was a kid playing SFIV. I wanted one charge, one motion, and one grappler. At least one of them needed a fireball and so I played Cody, Vega, and Hakan. I liked Cody the most aesthetically, but because I'm more of a defensive player, I ended up performing better with Vega and he went on to be my main in SFV. Unfortunately, I couldn't even try another character in that game throughout all the seasons because I would miss Vega's walkspeed and walljump when trying them out lol. I definitely want to play more characters this time around, so I'm gonna try picking three in SF6 like the good old days before Vega is announced and I get stuck again. Lily's the only one I'm sure of at the moment because she's too cute. SPDs on Hitbox are something else though...
Same except I would do well rounded/fast/grappler
Evolved to Neutral,Rushdown, grappler
Maybe try Chun li. She can hop on walls and stomp opponents in the air. She also have good range with her pokes and can be played defensively. DR + 3H is a relatively fast cross up. I know it's not as good as Vega but that the closest I can think of.
I'd argue Ryu is definitely huggable
I was stuck deciding between Ryu, Cammy and JP then you just nailed me with the 3 character recommendation. Thanks man.
You will pick Manon LK. She has everything. Waifu, neutral/footsie based, projectile invul, and super cool grabs.
I literally picked Honda this time around because of a sumo show I watched on Netflix. I used to suck at charge characters but I was really drawn to Honda this time around.
You’re content became 100x more interesting with the beard chief. Keep on keepin on and see you in the Streets!
Went with Marisa because of her command grab. Been having fun so far. Going to stick with her for awhile until I feel comfortable and then maybe I'll explore new chars.
But for now, just gonna press Superman punch and skip neutral as much as I can.
Thanks LK. I got to the three characters stage :)
I don't like any of the current characters and i don't like sf in general. I'm just playing to play with my friends, so I'm just picking Cammy because she's hot
Based.
Pants were the best addition to her
Even just choosing a character based on a tactic can go a long way. I literally only chose Guile because the Sonic Blade after landing a Flash Kick in the corner is like Piccolo Orb oki in DBFZ.
Before Asuka R# in Strive I felt I had to always play rushdown and any idea of zoning disguted me. I am glad Asuka made me realize there can be more than ungabunga and thats why I started playing JP in SF6
It's probably worth a mention that modern fighting games often have character designs and gameplay knit very tightly together, meaning that if you like the way a character looks, you'll probably like how they play, too. Like, you're not going to have a literal gremlin like UNI Mika playing a patient game at a distance. Of course, it's a bit more complicated in a game series as old as SF, but SF6 did go an extra mile making all the veterans more fun and fresh.
Personally, I like most of the character designs in SF6 equally, so it's hard for me to pick a main that way. I also have very little experience with SF in general, but I usually main characters with long buttons and command grabs, so I'll probably settle down for Manon. Her gameplan also seems to be simple enough for a newbie like me, so we'll see how that goes.
LK I actually really liked the 3 character theory, I didnt expect you to tell me anything new and I liked that a lot, Im having a mini character crisis cuz I really want to play Akuma cuz I mained him in SFV lol, until he drops Im trying to find another non shoto to play and Im going back and forth, Im very good with Ken and ryu but I already know once akuma drops the shoto slot will be filled so I want to learn a character with a different archetype in the mean time to expand my skill set as I've always been a shoto player, once Akuma drops I will be at peace and the world can heal again lol
Im almost always in a character rut if i dont get who im looking for, but im never sour cause i dont force myself to play something if im not jiving with it. That being said, i do buy the game regardless just to show support and i would still follow tournaments because i think the games are sick.
Like strive and sf5. No character's for me at all but i like how those games play. Never got my character in sf5 and am currently waiting for johnny in strive.
Now as far as team games. I think you get more leeway out of 2v2s moreso than 3v3s. You really get to see just how well a character can go with the cast in a 2v2 whereas in a 3v3 you have to worry more about shells, even though that can be fun too. But im derailing at this point.
Great video and stay blessed
Despite pro ranking tiers in mk11 i was a shao main. Despite him being consider weak his backstory, being the big bad and the atheistics were so awesome to me i grinded into Demi god status. It was my passion for shao that kept me motivated and focus enough to keep pushing my rank regardless of the meta.
Shao kahn is just so kuuuul
@LordKnight this is awesome, I’m really wanting to figure out how to pick the character I want to play in Mortal Kombat 1 which is the game I am looking into playing.
Honestly shout outs to this video. I already knew coming in that I really wanted to play kimberly, but I couldn't get the hang of playing neutral with her. But the 3 archetype strategy was legitamately useful. I'd already been playing kimberly cammy and luke ken, but not really zoners, so i playde like 10 games as guile and for some reason kimberly now makes more sense to me, maybe because I had to think harder about defense options while playing guile?
I’ve always been a ken main when I’ve played SF and they made him really fun in this one.
I'm ridiculous because I'll always pick my main because the littlest stuff. I love Manon's playstyle but I picked her up because the level 3 is amazing. Watching a gruff hardass like JP or a psycho like Juri do ballet is just too damn funny to me. I also like grappler archetypes. So it was easy.
That's funny I've been doing pick 3, it became pick 4 later. I have a balance, a zoner, a rushdown and a grappler in GG Strive. And it is more enjoyable than only focusing on one character, but I don't compete it's just for my enjoyment.
Lord Knight with a beard was not something I thought I needed in my life until I saw it
Bruh, that RPG analogy. I lit just heard it the other day from someone else too. If i had a dollar...
i will be putting your 3 character archetype theory into action, on my first fighting game, on my first fighting stick lets see
That 2nd to last one is definitely the akuma players
I'm definitely more of a function pick, I'm not a fan of Baiken's design at all, but she was the first character with good feeling air-to-airs in strive for me and that went a long way to keep my enjoyment going
I feel like Cammy and her looping hooligan combo pressure would be right up LK's alley, but I'm looking forward to footage of him playing archetype he doesn't usualy go for
whenever i am tasked with picking a character i usually just bring all the characters in practice mode and see if i can find something cool with one of them, or just pick a character with big buttons because its easy to beat most players by spamming them out
I picked ken as my main initially due to his drip. I then found out his combos are saucy so that sealed it for me
Since claw is no longer there, gotta go with my main from sf2 hyper fighting, Honda. Will work on Cammy as a pocket character, too. Edit: and just to have a projectile character, either Ryu or guile
I just got SF6 last night, and after watching this video I can tell the overall position of the community is to pick who you like or how you like to play.
That being said, the characters I like are Chun-Li, Cammy, and Juri, in that order. But I can see their playstyles all differ. In the future, I want to play a lot with that new character A.K.I.
Would the general advice be to just play all 3 characters for about 50 matches each and see who I like most?
Edit: I like characters who kick a lot in their styles.
This tier-list based choice is what saved Tekken 7 for me. When in season 3 DJin's uf4 was nerfed I experienced my first real character crisis. By that time Steve was considered top-tier, so I just picked him. He is fast, strong and hard asf. Since then no matter what, no matter how many nerfs he got, doesn't matter that current top tiers are 8-2 MU for him I always play him. Since then I learned a lot of characters, but none of them gave me that satisfaction as playing Steve. So even tier-whoreing can be good.
300 hours in sf6 but no idea who to main still ive just been drifting from character to character but i feel nothing for 90% of the cast
Man, I always get hyped about new FGs, but when I try them and start training, I get sleepy. Not an exaggeration. It feels like unpaid work.
The nostalgia of the early 2000s keeps me trying stuff and buying stuff, but I don't think I've spent more than 30 hrs on a fighting game since the days the early BlazBlue.
What gets me hyped? Cool character designs, cool moves, cool combos, cool setups. What keeps me away? Training.
You could always just jump in online
I spend like 5 mins in training and the rest getting beat online but it's still fun and I get experience on matchups
The thing that sucks is I like so many characters, they all look sick asf
Great vid sf6 is my first street fighter I’m a loyal MK player and idk sf6 is just so damn slow feel like my character is glued to the ground also I kinda hate everyone in the cast and all ppl do is grab not sure if sf is for me but I’ll keep trying
I don't normally pick zoners, but JP looks so damn cool. He got too much swag.
I'd love to hug ryu
This man speaks the truth.
“Team games you actually need kind of a plan”
Uh, I beg to differ. I just choose characters I really like and put them on a team. I don’t pick specifically based on who mechanically works best with who. If I’m playing UMVC3 and I want Cap, Spencer, and Hawkeye on a team, best believe I’m gonna have a team with Cap, Spencer and Hawkeye.
I think ill do the 3 character method but imma pick a grappler instead of the zoner 🗿😇
Ryu is definitely huggable 😍
I have a bit of character crisis myself because the game has no Bison
I heard your playing Honda. -4 headbutt and clap beating fireballs is pretty sick but spare yourself man an sub Chun or Jamie
Yeah I'm on step 5 right now. I had a bit of fun playing Ryu in the december beta but by the last beta I stopped because it's Ryu and there's a limit to how much fun I can have with characters like him and Ky before I get bored. I bought the game because the cast looked cool but none of them are doing it for me. Everyone fails by either looks, or gameplay. I like playing tricky rushdown characters who have a projectile. The only one that really fits the bill there is Juri and I tried her and I didn't enjoy playing her. For now I'm just playing Ken but I'll probably quit the game after a short amount of time. I need a character I really jive with or a fighting game may as well be DOA for me. I always like playing Akuma though so I might come back next year when he's out.
Did you try chun? She’s hard to figure out but rushing down with her is the most satisfying thing in the game. See “Moke” or “valmaster” gameplay if you’re not convinced. She has a fireball, good anti airs and really cool combos, probably the best in the game. Also, insanely good pokes. The only downside is that she deals much less damage. Like, you work twice as hard. But you also look twice as cool so 😎
@@xenodrake4008 I did but I hated playing her. I ended up playing more Jamie though and now he's my main
wait so i play chipp in guilty gear and i never really picked a character for sf5 but i know i like mix ups and fast attacks who would you recommend i play?
Is there any random fighter option in sf6 I'm not seeing it
Is there any tips on combo timing because I feel like there are some combos that I just can’t pull off because of their timing
Just practice
There's an option in training/combo trails for a bar that shows you when you're out of recovery frames and can do the next move. It's been super helpful for me
Juri! FTW!!!!
Hii, im new to street fighter but played a lot of Tekken 7 and played Hwoarang. Im still tryna figure who to play But Im curious out of all the characters who best suits Hwoarangs Playstyle in Street fighter. Hope someone can be of help with finding a main for me in this game.
I picked cammy cuz she's hot. Easiest decision of my life. Then i picked honda because his personality and facial expressions are hilarious
Is there a silly character in SF6? Think Faust (Xrd or Strive ver.), Neco-Arc, that kinda silly.
From what I've seen so far, you might want to try Blanka.
Lily's kinda goofy but you might have to wait for when/if they add Dan
“Juri, not really my taste…” 😤
No twelve no deal. 😢
Keep the beard. Looks great!
After playing Guilty Gear for so long I feel crippled in this games. Once you go anime it's hard to go back.
who is the grass starter of Street Fighter
Blanka is green
lol
Well, I picked JP because I just watched Succession and I like honest businessmen who don't like those who are not serious people, aka Ken Masters.
i wanna play juri cause shes cool but im not even "not a foot guy" i just HATE feet what the fuck do i do
Pick the character u like is abit annoying coz I like too many😂
Is "mahotsukai" a reference to the legend of five rings tabletop rpg?
Me : "Pick the best waifu, thats it."
As I'm typing this comment, LK : " I pick a lot of waifu characters."
Me : "My man."
*subscribes*
But I want to pick Vega.
The real woke take is to just pick whoever kazunoko plays. Its bound to be cheap
saw both kazunoko and momochi using deejay, immediately went "hum...interesting..."
Zangief for me. I like big grappler.
Let me guess, pick whoever looks cool to you? Because that's the only valid reason if you are starting. Going for top picks out of the gate is going to put you in such a grinding mindset you probably won't really enjoy the game
Its so weird that people cant figure out who to play. Isn’t it a simple “they look cool” and you pick that character?? Or if you think their moves are cool? Went to the command list for all the characters and found Kimberly and Honda to be the coolest. Its so surface level
You'd be surprised. I made a vid about character crisis recently, and the one of the most common replies was people not being able to settle on one character to focus on.
